  1. What in the ****ing world.... Why did you make this about race?? I'm sorry that my post hit a chord with you, but this is also way beyond where I was. I sympathize with you on a human level, but I don't know what else to tell you. I'm seeing news of government officials toying with the idea banning people from getting food & that isn't right. We've lost our damn minds
  2. Of course you don't like it, but I'm not going to couch the reality in more comforting language for you. I'm tired of that aswell.
  3. They are 2nd class citizens. Just barring them from gyms alone is a potentual health problem, plus the mental health problems that come along with social isolation & not being able to enjoy things with friends Then there's also restricting travel (planes/trains) where they can't even move freely within the country (see family?). It's insanity. Like you say, it's 10%. At any point prior to the mandate we would've all taken 90% of the pop vaccinated gladly. If I told you in 2019 you would gladly cheer on segregation & coerced injection of an expidited product (nvm the mass hysteria) I would've been consider Alex Jones 2.0 and dismissed. I'm not pretending the virus isn't serious, but god willing if Omicron turns out to be less deadly (as we are all praying) it would be nice to take stock of what we've done, go back to seeing people as humans rather than through the prism if hysteria, & try to move back to normalcy. The battle was lost at the beginning when the health authorities didn't push an extremely intense multi-month lockdown to isolate & potentially eliminate the virus. Theyve pushed the vaccines full force with extreme success (which has been good), but judging by that I think they could've pushed a more intense lockdown, it could've saved lives & alot of time. I'm tired of being conditioned to hate my neighbor. Then why are we setting records for cases??? If this reduced transmission we wouldn't be setting records. It doesn't seem to be translating to the real world. UVD can't workout at gyms, or join recreational sports leagues. Thats legitimately detrimental to people's health physically, nevermind the social aspect or being unable to travel. And some have lost their jobs. You see malevolence manifesting in the Maritimes (New Brunswick?) where unvaxxed can be banned from grocery stores - while other highly vaxxed provinces are simultaneously setting case records - and at some point a line needs to be drawn. I'd like to get back to a society where we don't show papers to move freely, and can view others as human beings rather than our view of the status on their paper. I don't think that's an unreasonable goal, but it seems like we are trending towards showing our papers & taking our pharmaceuticals forever.
  4. Bringing this over from the WJC thread for obvious reasons. FWIW I think after the winter / this wave they should de-segregate society. They (understandably) sold it as a measure to prevent transmission & that's proven to be false, so that should be rectified IMO. Once cases are back down & we are out of the cold (when these things transmit more) lets try to move back to letting people live their lives. I realize there's still the issue of hospitalization, but they could always rehire the fired healthcare workers that didn't comply. Our healthcare infrastructure was likely insufficient even prior to the virus, it would be nice to build that up more.
  5. I really want a legit Fender Stratocaster, but to justify dropping 1K on a guitar RN.... I guess life is short right? Yolo?

      @Ralph.

      That J 45 would be worth a lot if decades old....and sound amazing!!

      I miss my Studio but sold it to cover a few months in Mexico...I stand by my choice but loved that guitar...

      Update;

      Picked this up today. Used (but barely) for $675. It's an MIM but I'm still stoked.

    4. Gnarcore

      Awesome. Congrats!!

  6. He mentions Allvin but he said its down to 3, so I wonder who the other 2 candidates are.
  7. Boston turned Lucic & Hamilton into DeBrusk, Zboril & Senyshyn. Ouch
  8. I agree with @Devron44 I think we should be locking up Miller, & only trade him if that isn't going to be possible (recoup assets). He's the best forward on the team. I don't think your getting back anything that would be as valuable to us as he is.
  9. I'm with you except S&P. Swap in Rink Wide. For me it's Halford/Brough, Donnie & Dahli, then postgame go-to is Rink Wide (love Sat & Bik, but just can't stand listening to some 650 callers). Edit: also the Jeff Marek show has been a nice addition for Sportsnet. You get a mini 32 thoughts & good guests from around the league. (And Marek is a fantastic host)
  10. Drance is too self-absorbed IMO. He works hard & does do some good work, but he seems too concerned with - and committed too - his 'takes'. (Alot of which feel driven solely by whatever Natural Stattrick tells him). He can also be annoying on social media at times, but that's what the unfollow button is for. I haven't been as interested in the VanCast since Jpat left, and I rarely listen to the Canucks hour. On the other-hand going to Rink Wide has been a good move for Jeff, I like that show. Harm Dayal is really good IMO. Analytics based but he's open to other viewpoints, and even when he's steadfast in his view he gets it across in a level-headed way - without the arrogance of some analytics folk.
  11. Hopefully everyone is healthy & we are back against SJ. Cheering for Arizona & Seattle the last 2 nights hasn't made for the most confident sports viewing.
  12. I hate getting involved in this topic now, but wasn't that the core justification for segregating society? (The vaccine is highly effective at preventing transmission & unvaxxed are far more likely to spread, therefore are a danger to everyone in public settings)
  13. Played a bit of guitar & had a nap (mostly that) Then watched the end of Ottawa/Philly, not as good but nice to have some hockey nonetheless.
  14. It would be a great starting point for her coming in under Rutherford. She's very smart & knows the game, I'm sure she has alot of upside if she decided to get into it.
  15. Let's pray this continues to be the case, I know many are still cautious yet, but it's so nice to have a sliver of hope. Me too, I think the mandates are here forever.
  16. Can't believe we have Hughes signed long term at under 8M. He's worth 9-9.5 easy the way he's been playing. #ThankYouJim
  17. Canucks talent was the difference (including Demko) The Sharks battled but couldn't beat Demko, while the Canucks were sloppy (for most the game) but capitalized on their chances. Demko & Boeser picked up where they left off, and the beat goes on.
  18. I actually think Harman Dayal is among the best writers in the city already. Drance I'm not as crazy about.
