I think someone on Twitter already made the point that white people have destroyed the planet, and are the root of all evil, so maybe the UN is on to something - if they actually think this way.

Has the Moderna U30 thing been posted/commentated on yet? I'm just dropping in.

Kulinski is a left winger, very opposite from Shapiro. Is this comparison coming up because he's an 'internet' news source / commentator?

Exactly. Everyone complained only about Toffoli last year - despite the fact Tanev had a great season aswell - b/c we all knew Tanev's history & didn't feel it was worth the long term commitment. In hindsight Tanev is the bigger loss than Toffoli, but not even the biggest Benning haters would've signed Tanev b/c everyone wanted him traded years ago & there was no faith in his health. Its worked out for him in Calgary (and good for him) but I don't think anyone was keen on going 4 years on Tanev.

Exactly. People suggesting this are so out to lunch, imagine Benning explaining to Bo Horvat & JT Miller why they just traded their best player while the team was in a playoff spot.. Honestly the critics would've crapped over Benning if he'd done that too - as evidenced by the critique of Benning that the culture is bad & players are wanting out in the years since - its just a bad faith argument.

I think that was after 2013 not 2012, gotta remember the Keith cheap shot on Daniel that had him miss the first 3 games of the playoffs. I think most felt the Canucks still had a chance to compete for the cup but after being swept in '13 Gillis definitely went to ownership with a plan to alter course (I recall them shopping Edler at the same draft they made the Schneider trade). Maybe Benning told ownership what they wanted to hear. Regardless even if the course was wrong some of the targets they paid assets for (Clendening/Gudbranson/Sbisa) were still bad.

I do aswell. Seemed like a really good hearted person that cared & worked hard. Not smug at all (like Gillis), if anything honest to a fault - which I came to appreciate. I was not a fan of his through the first 3-4 years, I thought the direction they went was completely wrong & they wasted time + assets in the process. But after Linden left I thought he started to make some better moves as the inevitable rebuild was forced upon them. The last couple of years he improved yet got a somewhat unfair wrap. His drafting had really come through, he scored some great RFA deals, made better trades overall (Miller/Pearson), and the big ARZ move (which showed needed belief in the core) turned out to be one of his best, despite the team record. That said I felt he wasn't the guy to take this team to the next level. I hope one day this core will reach Stanley Cup heights & he'll be looked at as Nonis/Burke were during the Gillis years.
