  1. Heiskanen was more relied upon by his team. I dont have time to go into all the details right now, but stats support that. EV toi, PK, zone starts, QoC.
  2. Binnington played a backup goalie's amount of games. A backup goalie shouldn't win. The Blues team defence made a night & day turn around. Pettersson's slow ending of 20 pts in 30 games would still be #1 in rookie scoring extrapolated over a full season. His worse stretch of the season is still a better pace than any other rookie.
  3. Heiskanen got jobbed. He's been Dallas best D all year. Was their best D right away too. Dahlin's number's are incredible, but Miro was the best rookie D this year. Its close, but he should've finished #2 IMO. Binnington shouldn't have finished top 3.
  4. So glad CBJ won. Legit call & finally a good Cbus PP to end it. Cant wait for game 3 in Cbus. That arena should be rocking.
  5. Atleast he's trying to provide some insight with what he's seen.
  6. Now that's how you stick up for a teammate. Not crosscheck a guy in the face.
  7. Seems a little young to retire but I guess outside the NHL its not the same. A little sad, now its not just the oldest guys from our great Gilllis-era teams retiring. Congrats to Jannik on a great career. I can't believe how his NHL career fell apart when he went to San Jose. Was playing some of his best hockey prior to the trade too. Thought he'd be a great fit there for sure.
  8. Yes. But I don't think Harley is BPA anyways, especially when Alex Turcotte's on the board. Soderstrom's the positional pick. And I was fine with him earlier on. But now I do think the forwards are separating themselves.
  9. I like McKenzie's list more. He polls scouts. Button's mock drafts are interesting, but sometimes I wonder if he puts too much emphasis on international tournaments. I appreciate he's willing to put so much variance, sometimes its great & sometimes it leaves you wondering. He had Virtanen late which was good. Last year he also had Kravstov really late (going to the Rangers at 28, atleast he got the team right). This year Turcotte is the glaring one. SN had Harley ranked 10th, so its not that he's high, I just can't see us taking another LHD unless its Byram.
  10. Really smooth player. Haven't seen him before this u18 but I like him alot. Skates well & good poise.
  11. I don't know what we're going to trade to get an extra first. We don't have many expendable assets. And if we are able to get one its probably a late 1st. At which point the players are projects, unless someone you really like is falling. Maybe if we take on a cap dump it could happen, but I doubt this regime has the appetite for that.
  12. Jake Gardiner would be another Harley comparable for me. Chabot would be if everything goes perfectly. Although I think Chabot was a better prospect. I think Harley has more work to do on the defensive side & limiting turnovers than Chabot. For Chabot it was more about strength. He was viewed as a smart defensive player. When I saw Harley in the prospects game he was a train-wreck. As much as he's got a high ceiling, I don't think he'll be reliable enough to be a top pair D.
  13. I've watched every game Canada's played so far at u18's. In the last game I watched vs the Czechs (still have today's game to watch) Button was pointing out mistakes Harley was making in on broadcast. And he's done it earlier in the tournament too. So its not that he's seeing something amazing that no one else is, he's pointed out the poor plays & the great plays. Now I think the sentiment with Harley is he's got alot of upside, maybe Thomas Chabot-like. But he's not a complete product yet, he'll be back in junior next year not dominating a men's league. Maybe if he becomes Chabot-like he'll be top 10 or even top 5, but I don't see him ever being the best player from this draft. With Pettersson you could see he had the upside to be among, if not the, best of his class. Same with Hughes (Dahlin aside).
  14. Getting back to my Neal proposition. Here's my rational. I look at this as potentially the next Joffrey Lupul / Jake Gardiner trade. If we take James Neal the return will be something significant that can help make our young team better. And then you also bet on James Neal turning it around & becoming a productive player. He's been in the SCF the last 2 seasons before this one, no time to train or prepare. Well now he has time & hopefully with the full offseason (finally) he'll be able to turn it around. If not, hold onto him for a few years, they try trading him as a cap dump when we need the room, but since his contract will they be shorter we'll have to give up less than what we'll return. My 'turn it around with a full summer' rationale is also why I wonder how desperate Calgary would be to dump him. But they do need the cap space. So its something I'd be considering.
  15. Its like hockey central at noon. Branded as some kind of overall NHL talk. 90% of the time dominated by Leafs. Today it was the full post-mortem with Dubas/Babcock pressers in full. Marek somehow remembered to remind the audience that "round two starts tonight" as the show ending tune was blaring & their air time was ending.
  16. Anderson's a beast. Boston trying to throw a little extra on everything to get a call. Ref's can't bite with how physical this game's become.
