I dont totally agree with some of this, & I do think we lack trade assets to acquire potential top pieces. But fair enough. The time has come to take steps. It cant be backwards from here & part of taking the next step is going to be what we add in the offseason. The pro side has been hit & miss over the last 5 years, but im hopeful they can hit it out of the park this time around & we'll be in the playoffs next year.

Before this year it felt like a long aimless walk through the desert following this team. But after getting so close this year, & getting that playoff itch, im really dying for this team to get back to being good again. I want us to be in the playoffs next year & trending upward from there. Not that im not willing to be patient. I see theres still work to be done, i just wish we were further ahead & rightly or wrongly I guess thats why im critical.

In vs out being even for a rebuilding team isn't great. The vision was wrong at the beginning. Jim Benning started out wanting to be a playoff team when everyone could see this team needed a rebuild, he traded assets & tried to accelerate things to make playoffs happen. Now we are at a point where we've been patient, we now have young core players & this team needs to start making significant strides soon. But now its Jim Benning preaching patience & not saying playoffs are the goal. Not that I think he's wrong for doing that, don't get that part twisted, but this should have been the way all along. It wasn't, and now we are lacking depth & assets to trade in part b/c of that. And I know that point has been repeated over & over, but its only become more evident as time's gone on. Jim Benning has alot of work to do now to find depth, find players & find good trades to improve this team. Because the pressure's on. 5 years into this now, they need to be a playoff team by year 7. I don't know how a GM can go longer than 7 years at the bottom & keep his job.

That's fine the Baertschi trade logic was solid. Certainly wouldn't have hit on all 3, but with how well this regime has done at the draft table I'd imagine in with 3 picks we'd get atleast 1 player out of it. I said drafts from '14 - '16. The only 2nd in that timeframe has been Demko. I said that because draft picks from those years, if they make it, would be hopefully pushing for spots on the roster now, or atleast developing in Utica. And its been a concern now that there doesn't seem to be as much coming as we hoped going into the year. Dahlen trade was fine, it was a move trying to accelerate, but he was a good prospect. Its a disappointing part of the year in Utica that he didn't develop further for us & wanted out.

Boldy or Soderstrom are my 2 guys right now. Wouldn't be against exploring trade possibilities.

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

Big win for the Blades. 2-1 series now. 1-0 final & Dach with the only goal. -
He's an elite goal scorer but is he really dynamic? Scoring is his game, what else does he bring? He's a trigger man. As a winger its going to be harder for him to drive the play especially at his size. He certainly doesn't drive the play like Jack Hughes but he can definitely finish it.

Maybe look at trading the pick now that we are 10th. What if the Jets were to make Jacob Trouba available -

Not to take a shot at Krebs, but Virtanen & Pouliot were also #1 picks in the bantam draft. Doesn't necessarily mean alot. -

Well, now we know where we're picking. Everyone can bear down & focus on the guys potentially available. U18's right around the corner, alot of these guys in our range are going to be there. @ItalianCanuck1 I think the 4 names you listed are the ones I'm most interested in, can't wait to see them at U18's. Atleast this annual day of disappointment is over & the playoffs are starting tommorrow.
