  1. Yeah I have him #6 right now aswell. 6/7 with Cozens. To me its more about being a winger & what he projects as. I still want dig a bit deeper on his game but I've seen some concerns about IQ. So what does he project as? He's already played in the KHL, and he played a significant role at the World Junior (which is rare obv for draft-eligible Russians). So if he's going to be a 1st line PPG-ish winger (like say a A.Svechnikov type) then he's my #3 for sure. Otherwise I'll take the D or C ahead as I think Byram & Dach both have top line potential. I don't think playing style he's similar to Nichuskin, but I have seen that name brought up before in the Podkolzin convo. (as far as the IQ maybe? I'm guessing)
  2. I think after Jack/Kaak its Turcotte, Byram & Dach in the next group rounding out the top 5. 1. Hughes 2. Kakko --- 3. Byram - Dach - Turcotte And in any order you like really. I'm having a hard time between Dach/Byram for the 3rd spot myself. I think Dach's got the best pure upside in this tier but Byram has had a better year. Not to discount Turcotte either, who's the best NTDP guy after Hughes. He's talented & I know his all-around game is highly thought of.
  3. From what Ive seen Cozens isnt much of a PWF in any nasty or overly phyiscal sense. Has size, moves well & will battle a bit. But his game is more about goal scoring & trying to get into position to shoot rather than a net-driving power game. Imo
  4. Depends how far down the Rangers pick ends up being. I'd probably be inclined to just take Byram at #3.
  5. If we dont pick top 2 & Byram is available take him. Morgan Rielly like imo.
  6. Agreed. They need to try as hard as they can to move him in the offseason. And hopefully we don't have to give up alot as a sweetener. I
  7. Personally I wouldn't say 100%, he does try hard for the most part, more-so defensively, but I do think his effort waivers at times. I agree with Jimmy McG saying he's trying to cheat for the defensive side. But he needs to work harder getting to pucks IMO.
  8. Yeah I feel like Francesco wouldn't be too happy if he was paying Loui that money to play in the AHL.
  9. I still believe in Olli. Unlike Puljujarvi he hasn't been rushed. His D+1 year was a stall in his development, not that he regressed, but he just didn't move forward much. Ever since he joined TPS I think his development has been on track. I think he would be in the NHL right now as an everyday player had he not been hurt. Imagine if he hadn't missed the summer too where he could be at. If he doesn't feel right its better to deal with it now than have it linger. Hopefully he'll have the necessary time to get back onto the ice & in shape. (His conditioning seemed behind last training camp). He's a talented player, he's got some size, smarts & he's a good puck mover. He also seems to elevate his game when the games matter. He can definitely still be a huge part of this next core. Hopefully he can get through this & put the bad luck in the past.
  10. It depends whos there at that pick. I think some teams would. My list is going to change really soon but right now my #15 is Broberg. If he was the next up I'd trade him for Juolevi.
  11. #6 would be a great spot. If Dylan Cozen's goes top 5 we are getting 1 of Byram, Dach or Podkolzin.
  12. I can't wait for the playoffs to start.

  13. Lethbridge is playing Regina at 12:30 today on Sportsnet. Another chance to watch Dylan Cozens.
  14. I don't know I could see Benning trying to make a big splash. He tried to get the 1st pick in 2014 right when he started, and in 2016 he had a PK Subban trade all but done if Columbus took Puljujarvi. I don't think we will make a trade to move up, but I wouldn't say its totally unlikely Benning atleast tries to make a big move.
  15. If that's all it takes I would jump on that so fast.
  16. What do u guys think it would take a team like Ottawa, with lots of cap space that needs to hit the floor for next season, to take Eriksson off our hands? Its hard cause we are in a rebuild too, but is there anything we could give up that might suffice, or are we just stuck with Loui?
  17. I do think there's 2 tiers between Hughes/Kakko & that 15ish range but definitely alot of room for variance. This is looking to be a pretty decent draft. I wish we had another pick around the middle of the 1st. With that variance, there's alot of potential to get a really good player there that maybe slides a bit.
  18. Its too bad that Dahlen decided he wanted to go elsewhere. There was a great opportunity waiting for him if he stuck it out. He's not going to be any closer to the NHL in SJ.
  19. Perhaps. Aside from that brief stint I haven't watched him play alot. I know he's big & can play physical, but I'm not sure if intimidation & fighting (to a degree) are staples of his game. I was under the impression he was more of a 200ft guy that could chip in a bit, more so than being known for his 'toughness'. Could be off on that.
  20. I don't agree with much of this. The timing was right & it was the right partner. We desperately need a winger, Pittsburgh needed a defenseman. Both guys 2 years left on their deals at similar numbers & had been underperforming for awhile now. Pearson had been moved, but Guddy's play has been declining since coming here. So there are issues with both guys which is why it works. We won't miss him as a hockey player on our defense. His mins had been dropping & his role was getting smaller. He was surpassed by Stecher as a #4 & he's replaceable as a #5-6. Pearson can score 15+ goals, has had 24 in the past & multiple 40+ pts seasons. If he can provide some secondary scoring on Horvat's line then we need that alot more than Guddy. The toughness part I agree with, we already lacked some toughness & now we did trade our toughest player. That will have to be addressed in the offseason & hopefully it'll be a forward. Its hard for Guddy to be the tough guy people would love him to be b/c he's a defenseman. So hopefully we can add a winger with some toughness in the summer.
  21. Its too bad we've had to move on from Dahlen so soon. He wasn't a sure thing but I remember the hype when he got him about how he'd be a T6 goal scorer for us. If the players requests a trade however there's just not alot they can do. I know Utica has come under criticism in the market a few times this year, but from my understanding Dahlen was playing in a top offensive role & getting minutes. And he wasn't coming in & out of the lineup like Gadjovich/Lind. It seemed like he was getting plenty of opportunities & his season was coming along. I think Sekeras suggested he & Trent Cull didn't see eye to eye going back his brief stint last season, so if that's what led to this its unfortunate. Now I don't know if the guy we got is a good return, or if they should have waited for someone else (I'm kinda surprised they didn't get a D), but at the same time I don't imagine Dahlen's value is exactly sky high. All that being said if Gradin & our scouts like Karlsson I'm willing to reserve judgment.
  22. I agree. I mean its confirmation on the part of the organization. The timing of the trade was really bad for where our team was at & they targetted the wrong player.
  23. I sincerely hope Guddy turns it around in Pittsburgh. You'd have to be heartless not to like him as a person. Its unfortunate things never worked out for him here.
  24. Yeah we are going to have to address that. I thought the team already needed a bit more toughness with Gudbranson so now its definitely a concern. But the defense needs to be retooled & this is a great starting point for that. Gudbranson's play/value has been declining & now we get a winger that can play with Horvat out of him. To me the positive outweighs losing the toughness pretty easily.
