  1. I'd rather get the cheaper player who's also a 2x cup champ. If Soucy can do just as well in a top 4 role, then great, but there's less certainty with that.
  2. That's a better deal than many of the other D signings, including Soucy.
  3. As Craig Button would say, we're cornering the market on bottom pair defensemen.
  4. 1 year deal instead of giving a ton of term is perfect.
  5. Blueger was a 3C for some time in Pittsburgh. Hopefully he can fill that role well for us.
  6. I might have believed that if there weren't people calling for Provorov to be deported before he even gave a statement.
  7. I've explained the behaviour that caused the jerseys to be cancelled. These are the consequences you have to live with now. I imagine the denial phase will last quite some time.
  8. We could have had Sadin Pellikka But no, we had to trade the pick. So short sighted...
  9. You engaged with me in this conversation by quoting me this morning. Don't waste my time if you don't want to have a discussion. And to say I'm blaming the victims is just disingenuous as usual.
  10. I think the deportation comments are just a good example that people like to say extreme things online without thinking it through fully. Doesn't help that these type of comments typically get plenty of internet high fives from others who haven't thought it through. We disagree on the decision upsetting the majority of fans. As mentioned previously, point 1 on Avery's list is what I believe to be the crux of it all. Hard to have good ratings when it's so difficult to watch the product.
  11. The irony of you saying this while disagreeing with my position. The jersey removal is a consequence to the action of spewing vitriol towards players and wanting them deported. Time to accept the consequences and learn from them.
  12. It applies to both, and anyone really. I was just mentioning what I think discourages conversation. Looks like Kevin expanded upon his post, proving that when people approach conversation in a less hostile manner, more productive discussion can be had. Side note, but I expect some people will perceive those as his individual opinions rather than what he thinks a player may be thinking. I've seen that happen plenty of times already.
  13. Some players have poker as their go-to card game. While Meier prefers to play crazy eights.
  14. This is why I said these players shouldn't be asked about it. No need to give a player an opportunity to say something controversial. On the other hand, people wanted Provorov deported before he even had a chance to make a statement, so these jerseys were always going to get removed since fans/media can't control themselves.
  15. Just an observation, but maybe he, and perhaps others, aren't eager to engage based on how you approach the conversation. It's in poor taste to expect a reply from someone within an hour. Especially after twisting the meaning of his post. This is after making a poor statement in "you're either with us or you're against us". Then when challenged on it, you use the "not going to play this game" angle. It makes for very disingenuous conversation.
  16. You think everyone is a terrible person I don't think that way about Kuzmenko for example, but you go ahead and enjoy living a life full of hate.
  17. Read through all of my posts in this thread if you want a better understanding of my position.
  18. Yes, every fan is part of that group. You asked why I was concerned about fan reactions, and that is why. We can't control what a player does, but each of us plays a small role in the fan reaction. You accept your part, so I tip my hat to you for that, despite our disagreeing positions.
  19. Others have understood me just fine. It's conveniently the ones who participated in the jerseys being removed that don't understand my argument. And I've mentioned why that is. I have discussions with people I disagree with, if they put some effort in. Not going to waste time with those who don't. If all you come away with is "blame the left" when I haven't mentioned that, well that's on you and just proves my point.
  20. Considering who some of the people are that disagree with me, that doesn't mean much. Some people refuse to have a reasonable discussion, and have a history of reading only what they want to see and/or twist my words. Very few try to have a good discussion and actually listen to the perspective of someone they disagree with. It would be nice if more people were like this.
  21. I am part of the group who can give a reaction to things that happen in the league. I care about lies and nonsensical arguments. Both have been prevalent in these discussions. I predicted that the ridiculous amount of backlash would cause the warmup jerseys to be removed. Anyone who could look at this objectively should have seen that coming. Now that it has, many refuse to accept their role in this, which I find to be comically pathetic.
  22. When did I say anyone shouldn't play hockey? One side of politics has won? Oh please, spare me the dramatization. I'd have thought that if I were being called out, there'd be a sound argument explaining any errors in my posts. Yet you've replied to me multiple times and have offered none of that. Instead it seems you prefer to make up statements that I haven't said. If you can't figure out what I'm trying to say, that's on you for choosing to be willfully ignorant and/or refusing the accept the consequences to your actions.
