I guess we disagree on the Monahan and Dach moves. I personally don't think adding an overpriced, oft-injured center given away by his former team in Monahan (actually the Flames paid a conditional 1st for somebody to take him from their hands) as "solidifying" as you put it. And I've been following Dach's career by checking in on the Blackhawks forums and writers every once in a while: when he was drafted, he was being hyped as a Toews replacement; fair or not, even at his young age, for a lot of the Blackhawks fans, those standards have dropped to hoping he'll be a serviceable 2C. They're really not sure what's missing and some of them seem to be glad it's not their problem any more. If the Habs are somehow in a playoff position by the trade deadline, I believe they'll make some moves to improve their roster.

Last year, he put up 60 points in 65 games. Imho, there will be some interested teams in him despite his contract.

With Blake Wheeler and Scheifele both rumoured to be on the outs in Winnipeg, maybe there's a deal to be made there for the Habs.

Just read Scheifele's interview today, and my summary of it is that "this move sucks for Blake, and we will need to support him". I can't imagine Blake Wheeler staying much longer.

Yes, the Grizz were at GM Place. I was actually referring to Seattle (Sonics) and other cities. Stern likes using that stick of leaving in order to get a brand new arena. He justifies it as competitiveness, but it completely ignores the reality of proper use of public funding: help those that need it most (nurses, teachers, etc.) or fund a league owned by gazillionaires for entertainment purposes.

How I used to hate the threat used by ex NBA commish David Stern multiple times: build this team a new arena or else, the team will move. The amount of money used to renovate BC Place was insane. For as long as it's not paid by our taxes, I'm ok with whatever.

I think he signs between 6.25 to 6.75. If he signs 6.25, it will be long term and NMC in many years.
