  1. Wow. Henrik Sedin has the worst +/- in the team with -21. Because of all the empty nets of the other team or a reflection of his decline? Duchene and Barrie with a league-worst -28.

It's both.  I was kind of wondering how much the empty net goals were skewing not just Henrik's +/- but also the team's goal differential.  The Canucks never seem to score empty net goals but yet they get a lot of empty netters scored on them.

  2. It pains me to say this, but based on their shockingly rapid decline this second half, not sure about the wisdom of extending them at all especially given that we just signed young guys that are not too far away from being top 6 forwards in the NHL. Would we put the Sedins in the third or fourth lines? Best bet would be to split them up, but can Henrik still play the Centre position competitively? If Henrik's willing to move to the Wing and they're both willing to accept $2 mil per year, then maybe...
  3. We should all cheer for the following Eastern Conference teams to keep winning games for the rest of the season: Detroit, New Jersey, Carolina, Buffalo, Philadelphia.

Yes, the Sharks too. But if we can get a top 2 pick with all of the Eastern Conference teams having a better record than us...

  4. I personally didn't think it was risky given where the Kings D-man Derek Forbort was. Goldy spotted Forbort's bad positioning and took full advantage of it. Good for him.
  5. Nolan Patrick looking good. May be fully recovered from injury. Still confused as to why some people think that PLD is better than him.

Good point on the Center position. The biggest difference for me between the two is the hockey IQ. I know it's an eye-test, but Nolan seems to understand the game and sees the whole ice better. PLD's game is either one-on-one (and he was a beast compared to the opposition last year) or relies quite a bit on linemates (as seen during the past Worlds). PLD is actually putting up great numbers since being traded, but as he said in an interview, a lot of it has to do with his new linemates.

PLD hasn't had 2+ months of injury every year since he was 13 years old barring 1 nearly complete year.  Not sure who says PLD is better, but I wouldn't take Patrick simply based on his injuries at such a young age

Good point on the injury. And maybe that's the root concern of some of the prognosticators, but I don't recall that being mentioned.

  6. Surprised not much mention of Sbisa in the trade list...

  7. The Sens fans don't know it yet, but them being upset about what they paid for Alex Burrows (both Dahlen and the extension Alex got) is actually only going to serve to fuel him up to prove them wrong! All heart!

  8. A lot of Sens fans upset at what it cost them to get Burrows. It sounds like we got a good one.

He had a good showing at the World Juniors, and is the leading scorer on his regular team, Timra IK. He definitely has the skills, now we get to see how he looks at our camp next year.

  9. Expecting zero changes for Canucks during TDL with the reason being given as "limited trade options due to NTCs; likes our core and assets coming back in return are not worth the possibility of the team still making the playoffs; will look at potential trades prior to expansion draft instead". And if it turns out that I am wrong, then I'll be happy!

Everyone who doesn't want to be traded is probably over at the Tryamkin's tonight for dinner.

There's a simple test for mumps, it's transmitted through saliva so.... ya. I'm sure a prospective trade partner will want test results for a trade to go through, but considering none of the guys mentioned should be on the block, I don't see how mumps will factor into trades for uninfected players.

It would seem JB's future as a GM is in the balance, riding on this TDL.

He's proven to be an amazing scout, time to flex some business Jimbo.

  10. Would it be possible for someone to go start an "If you woulda, coulda Tkachuk, how much would a Matt Tkachuk score" thread so that I can check this thread to find out about how Juolevi's doing?
  11. I personally think they would be putting him on the Sedin line, but we'll never know...
  12. Tkachuk won't be scoring much in our lineup.
  13. Just checked the team +/-, and the Canucks have the THIRD worst in the league behind Arizona and Colorado. Are the recent losses finally catching up to what the stats have been saying all along?

  14. To anyone who is still lusting after Tkachuk, relax! Sometime in the next 2 seasons, Calgary will be offering him to us for either a second-round pick or a late-first-round pseudo-prospect.
  15. Pairing up with Chris Tanev would do that to you.
  16. The key word here is 'today'. If he's as "obviously" bad as what some of the other posters here are saying, then I'm sure other GM's would see that as well, and it's pretty much sunk cost until his contract expires. So might as well see what happens in a few years' time.
  17. I'd be curious to see you asking this same question 2 years from now.
  18. I can imagine Brady visiting the White House and his buddy Donald making jokes about who had the better comeback win...:(

Then bring up Trump was the one of geniuses to have the USFL switch to Fall games and the league collapsed not long after that. Such great business sense.

  19. Best part of this Super Bowl so far are the commercials...

I take full credit for turning this Super Bowl around and making it the most exciting Super Bowl ever. It's minutes after this post that a team finally scored. :P

  20. Wow, Gino actually wasn't a bad scorer. And Lars actually did it in less games than Bo too...
  21. Apparently, Dave Babych agrees with me as to Jake's ceiling: "I think Jake would be a perennial 30-goal scorer if they just let him fly down the wing." (from: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/jim-benning-canucks-future-nhl-1.3964190). Now, I'm not 100% sure whether he's talking NHL or AHL...
  22. ;-) I read from a poster here that Jake's biggest asset is his big ass because apparently, that means explosive skating. So perhaps Jake's butt weighs the same as Bo's head?
  23. According to nhl.com, Bo is 6'0" and weighs 223 pounds. Maybe at the end of last season, they told Jake, "I want you to grow up like Bo", and he missed the "up" part.
  24. Maybe some class can rub off Bo onto #17.
