Burr is the heart of the Canucks. When are the Acquilini's and Gillis about to acknowledge that with a bonus like Bieksa's? Canucks.org immensely underpaid him for four years,it is the least they could do. Building harmony and equitable trust in a 'think outside the box' RFA destination.

Heart n soul Canuck. Underpaid by 3 schmil per year.

Kesler signed a six-year, $30 million contract extension with the Canucks on March 19, 2010. The deal will pay Kesler $5 million per season. The signing came a month and a half after general manager Mike Gillis announced he had suspended contract negotiations with all the Canucks' pending free agents until after the 2009–10 season. The Canucks were reportedly looking to sign him at $4.5 million per year, while Kesler was asking for $5.5 million. Kesler had made remarks the previous season in March 2009, after Burrows had recently signed a four-year, $2 million per season extension, that more players need to sign contracts below market value in order to develop a winning team. His comments later prompted his agent to refute the idea Kesler would not negotiate a new contract with the Canucks at full market value. Kesler was also contacted by NHL Players Association director of affairs Glenn Healy, discouraging him to make similar remarks in the future.

Pretty sad that the franchise won't honor the most loved Canuck with a renewed contract in which he is greatly deserving of. Burr has one point less than Kes and Kes makes $5m. Burr makes half a million less than Mason. Burr makes a quarter million less than the Canuck for a second,Marco Sturm (just to show what disparity is). Burr was fourth in playoffs scoring last year, three points behind Daniel and two points behind Kes. http://canucks.nhl.com/club/stats.htm?gameType=3&season=20102011

Burrows, what a player. Gillis hosed him so badly he should do the right thing and pay Alex is real worth. He hosed the Sedins and Burrows and there they are THE leaders on this team. Giving large contracts to Booth and Ballard and Sundin and others seems pretty sad considering the underpayment for the team leaders by the GM of ' We are all Canucks '.

Jordan lighting it up against the Oil tonight. Shorty saying he is having a very good game.
-
Archi was a no show tonight. Thought I would see more but it is what it is.
-
Archi did fine in his debut, turned some heads. Schroeder was flying all night long and means business. Lessard was moving in the first two periods. Polasek,Hannay,Erixon and Corrado all played well on the rear end in their debut. Erixon showed some real poise.

Most famously, Hammarström is credited with being the scout who pushed the hardest for Philadelphia to select Peter Forsberg with the sixth overall pick of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. At the time, the pick was considered a surprise — and a bit of a gamble. Forsberg had been ranked considerably lower by The Hockey News in its 1991 Draft Preview, and most observers expected the player to be taken late in the first round or early in the second round of the draft. And his best has impressed Canucks scout Inge Hammarstrom, who lives on the same street as Rodin in Gavle, Sweden, the city in which Brynas plays. “When he plays, he’s been good, and at times sensational,” said Hammarstrom, who is currently in Finland scouting a tournament of 1992-born players. Hammarstrom talks to Rodin on a regular basis, with the goal of mainly just trying to keep his spirits up. “I try to just give him advice, cheer him up, and keep pushing him to work hard,” said Hammarstrom. “If he can battle through this, he will come back to North America and produce.”

Archi pots goal number eight and his eleventh point in eight playoff games as the Dogs get set to eliminate Oshawa: IceDogs Drop Gens 6-1 To Take 3-1 Series Lead April 13, 2011 The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Oshawa Generals by a score of 6-1 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Semifinal Wednesday night in Oshawa. Share OSHAWA - The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Oshawa Generals by a score of 6-1 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Semifinal Wednesday night. Jason Wilson, Ryan Strome and Dougie Hamilton combined for 12 points while Mark Visentin played yet another stellar game between the pipes to lead the 'Dogs to victory. Darren Archibald also scored a highlight-reel between-the-legs goal, proving he has the pazzaz to go along with the grit and physicality. Wilson had a solid first period as he opened the scoring at the 5:52 mark for his third of the playoffs with the assist going to Freddie Hamilton. Generals top prospect Boone Jenner, who has ran into some penalty troubles throughout the series, took a minor for high sticking at the 8:42 mark, allowing Wilson to follow up with his second of the period with the help of Steven Shipley and David Pacan, increasing the IceDogs lead to 2-0. Oshawa's penalty troubles continued throughout the first as they took three more minors, but managed to kill them off to keep the score 2-0 IceDogs going into the first intermission. Both teams ran into penalty troubles in the second, but the IceDogs were the only to convert with the man advantage as Dougie Hamilton potted his second goal of the post-season at the 11:29 mark to put Niagara up 3-0. Freddie Hamilton picked up his second assist of the night on the play while Ryan Strome also added a helper. The remainder of the period was scoreless, but Christian Thomas took a tripping minor at the 19:08 mark, leaving the 'Dogs with 1:12 on the power play to start the third period. The score remained 3-0 IceDogs after 40 minutes of play. After serving the remainder of his penalty, Christian Thomas put his team on the board at the 4:09 mark of the third with his eighth tally of the playoffs from Lucas Lessio and Tony DeHart. The goal wouldn't take them too far as Darren Archibald answered right back (also with his eighth of the playoffs) under a minute later, while Ryan Strome grabbed his fifth by pouncing on a rebound at the 6:23 mark to make it 5-1. Freddie Hamilton and Wilson added helpers to both pick up their third points of the night. Later in the frame, the rough stuff picked up and eventually Jason Wilson took liberties against Scott Sabourin who laid a massive hit on Milan Doudera. Both players received fighting majors while Wilson received an instigator and misconduct. Andy Andreoff was also handed a misconduct on the play. Following he fight, Scott Laughton hammered Darren Archibald from behind and received a five minute check from behind penalty along with a game misconduct to put Niagara on the power play for the remainder of the game. Alain Berger took an interference penalty late in the game to give the IceDogs a 5-on-3 advantage and Dougie Hamilton was able to capitalize, putting home his second goal of the game to give the game a final score of 6-1. Niagara's convincing win gives them a 3-1 series lead going into Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal, which takes place this Friday, Apr. 15 back in Niagara at the Gatorade Garden City Complex. Puck drops at 7 p.m. Plenty of great seats are still available, and tickets can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location. Archi nabs a goal and nets an assist in a 4-1 win over Oshawa as the Dogs take the series lead 2-1: IceDogs Gain 2-1 Series Lead With 5-3 Win Over Gens April 11, 2011 The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Oshawa Generals by a score of 5-3 to gain a 2-1 series lead in front of a packed house at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Monday night. Share The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Oshawa Generals by a score of 5-3 to gain a 2-1 series lead in front of a packed house at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Monday night. Mark Visentin played another solid game in net stopping 46 shots to hold on to Niagara's lead. The IceDogs opened the scoring just 63 seconds into the game as Ryan Strome potted his fourth of the playoffs with the help of Jason Wilson and Jesse Graham to give the 'Dogs an early 1-0 lead. Niagara kept the pressure on early and Simon Gronvaldt picked up a loose puck at the point and blasted it past Peter Di Salvo to make it 2-0 with 17:38 left in the first. The Generals then got into some penalty trouble taking two separate minor penalties around the midway point the period, and although the 'Dogs didn't capitalize on the 5-on-3, Andrew Agozzino did score moments later while one man up to make it 3-0 IceDogs. Late in the period, the IceDogs managed to make it 4-0 when the play was brought to 4-on-4 with coincidental penalties. Darren Archibald potted his seventh of the season on a nifty backhand while Dougie Hamilton and Jesse Graham both recorded their second assists of the game on the play. Niagara would take the 4-0 lead into the first intermission, leading the shot clock 16-13. The second period didn't have quite the offensive urgency that was seen in the first, but the action was by no means dull as both teams picked up the physical play and laid some massive hits throughout the frame. Ryan Strome took a rough hit from behind which led to a scuffle and coincidental penalties, while Freddie Hamilton got into it with Boone Jenner later in the period and the two went off for unsportsmanlike minors as well. Late in the period, Generals forward Andy Andreoff was disturbed during a breakaway and awarded a penalty shot with just seven seconds left. He managed to beat Visentin with a nifty move to the backhand to give the game a 4-1 score after 40 minutes of play. However, on the same play, the Gens took a minor penalty for roughing after the whistle and the 'Dogs would start the third period with a man advantage. The Generals killed the penalty off along with a few more in the first half of the third and began to show some urgency, controlling the play in the IceDogs zone around the midway mark of the period. The momentum led to a goal as Scott Laughton picked up a rebound in the slot and put it past Visentin to bring the game to a 4-2 score with seven minutes remaining. The 'Dogs took a penalty late in the game and the Generals pulled their goalie in efforts to tie the game. They were able to capitalize, but the goal came due to Andy Andreoff tossing Visentin's stick behind the IceDogs net giving Visentin the disadvantage and allowing the Generals to convert to make it 4-3 with 24 seconds left. However, the IceDogs managed to score on the empty net as Agozzino picked up his second of the game to make it 5-3, giving Niagara a 2-1 series lead over the Generals heading into game four. Game four of the Eastern Conference Semifinal will take place this Wednesday, Apr. 13 at 7:05 p.m. at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. Archie nets his sixth goal of the playoffs in a losing cause: Generals Even Series With 6-4 Home Win Over IceDogs April 9, 2011 The Niagara IceDogs were defeated 6-4 by the Oshawa Generals in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal Saturday night to even the series 1-1. Share The Niagara IceDogs were defeated 6-4 by the Oshawa Generals in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal Saturday night to even the series 1-1. After a chippy start to the game, Alex Friesen opened the scoring with his first goal of the playoffs just under three minutes in, beating Peter De Silvo and giving the 'Dogs a 1-0 lead. Shortly after the tally, Ryan Strome went off for hooking and Alain Berger tied the game 1-1 with his 5th of the playoffs from Christian Thomas and Calvin de Haan. Christian Thomas then picked up his second point of the game on the power play with a go-ahead goal at the 9:38 mark to give Oshawa its first lead of the game. After the Gens scored back-to-back power play goals, the IceDogs got a chance with the man advantage and Ryan Strome capitalized as he ripped a shot past Di Silvo to notch his 3rd of the playoffs, tying the game once again. Neither team could convert again throughout the remainder of the frame and the two teams would head into the dressing room with an even 2-2 score. In the second period, both teams exchanged goals around the 11 minute mark starting with Nicklas Jensen for Oshawa and Darren Archibald for Niagara. Both players would notch their sixth of the playoffs to give the game a 3-3 score. Once again, the game remained at a tight score going into the intermission, with Niagara leading the shot clock 20-14. Early in the third, Steven Shipley thought he put the 'Dogs up 4-3, and although video evidence showed the puck crossed the line, it was ruled no-goal and the score remained 3-3. Mitchell Theoret would however regain the lead with a solid individual effort that resulted in a highlight reel goal where he flipped the puck over a defenders stick and made a nifty deke to give the game a 4-3 score. The Gens didn't give up and answered right back with two quick goals from Jensen and Boone Jenner to give them a 5-4 advantage at the approach of the midway mark. After taking a minor penalty for high sticking (which the Generals killed off), Christian Thomas made it 6-4 Oshawa by letting a wicked wrist shot go upon breaking into the IceDogs zone at the 12:45 mark of the frame. Coach Marty Williamson pulled Visentin early in efforts to tie the game, and the Gens took a penalty with just over two minutes left to give the 'Dogs a 6-on-4 power play opportunity. However, the advantage wouldn't last long as Alex Friesen took a slashing penalty shortly after, bringing the play to 4-on-4. Oshawa was able to hold Niagara off and the home team took a 6-4 win to even the series 1-1. Game 3 will take place this Monday, Apr. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Gatorade Garden City Complex in St. Catharines. Archi picks up one assist as the Dogs sweep the Battalion with a 4-1 win: he Niagara IceDogs completed a four-game sweep of the Brampton Battalion with a 4-1 victory in game four at the PowerAde Centre Thursday night, meaning the Battalion are eliminated from the playoffs and the IceDogs will advance to the Eastern Conference semifinal round. In his second game back after recovering from an internal injury, Johnson Andrews opened the scoring in game four by making a solid individual effort to break into the offensive zone and beat St. Jacques with a firm wrist shot glove side to give the game a 1-0 score. Philip Lane and Spencer Abraham created some quality scoring chances for the Battalion in the latter half of the first, while the Agozzino-Friesen-Pacan line had some good cycles going for the ‘Dogs to keep the pressure on. Niagara took a 2-0 lead with 4:47 left in the first as Myles Doan put one past St. Jacques for his first of the playoffs from Darren Archibald and Steven Shipley. The ‘Dogs would keep the 2-0 lead after 20 minutes while also leading the shot clock 8-7. IceDogs captain Andrew Agozzino gave Niagara a 3-0 lead just 46 seconds into the second as he tipped in a Dougie Hamilton point shot while on a power play that carried over from the first period. Ryan Strome also notched an assist on the play. Battalion defender Marcus McIvor then took a holding penalty shortly after the goal, and Agozzino picked up his second tally of the game with the man advantage to make it 4-0 IceDogs 3:02 into the second. Although the IceDogs started the third on the power play, Battalion forward Sam Carrick was tripped up on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot while shorthanded. However, Carrick couldn't come up with a move creative enough to beat the hot goaltending of Mark Visentin, and the score remained 4-0 in Niagara's favour. The Battalion finally struck back with just over 13 minutes left in the third as Stephon Thorne scored his second of the playoffs to break Visentin's shutout and give the game a score of 4-1. The play was brought to four-on-three late in the third as Shayne Rover and Philip Lane went off for roughing, and Mike Schwindt took a cross-checking minor shortly after to put the Battalion on a power play. The 'Dogs managed to kill off the four-on-three Battalion advantage, picking up a 4-1 victory to sweep Brampton in four games and advance to the Eastern Conference semifinal round of the 2011 OHL Playoffs. Archi pots one,his fifth of the playoffs,in a 5-1 drubbing of Brampton: The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Brampton Battalion by a score of 5-1 to take a 3-0 series lead in front of a sold-out crowd of 3,145 at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Tuesday night. The IceDogs struck first as Jason Wilson put the puck past Cody St. Jacques after accepting a pass from Ryan Strome, who created a turnover in the neutral zone to make the play possible. Freddie Hamilton then followed up with his second goal of the playoffs at the 14:37 mark of the first to give Niagara a 2-0 lead. Jason Wilson picked up his second point of the game tonight with an assist on the play, while Shayne Rover also added a helper in his return from a brief lower-body injury. The IceDogs had a chance to make it 3-0 late in the period with a shot at the power play, but St. Jacques made some big saves for the Battalion to keep the game at a close 2-0 score heading into the first intermission. Despite the 'Dogs 2-0 lead, Brampton was ahead on the shot clock 12-10. The opening of the second period scoring didn't come until the 7:34 mark as Alex Friesen made a nifty back-handed pass from behind the Battalion net to an open David Pacan, who made no mistake in snapping it in from the slot to increase the Niagara lead to 3-0. The remainder of the second period went both ways for the most part, but the IceDogs managed to squeeze in another goal with just 43 second left in the frame. to give them a commanding 4-0 lead. This time, Andrew Agozzino would get the marker to record his first of the playoffs, while Alex Friesen added his second assist of the game. After 40 minutes, the IceDogs had a 4-0 cushion over the Battalion, while also leading the shot clock 26-20. The Battalion finally broke Visentin's five period shutout at the 8:02 mark of the third as Zach Bell put home his first of the playoffs with the help of Philip Lane to cut the Niagara lead to 4-1. The IceDogs tried to keep the play in the Brampton zone as much as they could throughout the remainder of the third, and more rough stuff occurred as the period went on. Darren Archibald would however score his fifth of the playoffs with under four minutes left in the third to make it 5-1 Niagara. With a commanding lead late in the third, the IceDogs killed the clock and took their third straight victory over the Battalion, 5-1. Game four of the quarterfinal series will take place this Thursday, Mar. 31 at 7 p.m. at the PowerAde Centre in Brampton. Archi kicks Brampton butt: Darren Archibald led the Niagara IceDogs to a 7-1 victory as he notched four goals to help capture the first game of the playoff series against the Brampton Battalion Thursday night at the Gatorade Garden City Complex. Jesse Graham, Dougie Hamilton, Mitchell Theoret and Victor Terreri also had stellar games for the 'Dogs with multi-point nights while Mark Visentin played a solid game between the pipes stopping 39 shots. The game immediately had a physical tone to it as both teams were throwing their weight around and getting under one another's skin, which led to two assistant captains, Alex Friesen and Sam Carrick, picking up coincidental roughing minors early in the first. Dougie Hamilton showed how versatile a player he can be by getting the fans and bench going with a massive open-ice hit in the neutral zone shortly after. With an energetic crowd behind them, the IceDogs opened the scoring at the 14:28 mark of the period as Darren Archibald let a laser go from the point to give the home team a 1-0 lead with the help of Myles Doan and Victor Terreri. Myles Doan thought he had put the 'Dogs up 2-0 at the end of the second, but his shot hit the post and the score would remain 1-0 after 20 minutes. The IceDogs came out hard to start the second as Mitchell Theoret scored on a shot he took from behind the Battalion net after accepting the puck from Mike Schwindt to increase their lead to 2-0. To follow Theoret's goal, Darren Archibald put home his second tally of the game on the power play by letting a wicked wrist shot go from just inside the circle to give Niagara a 3-0 lead just over five minutes into the frame. Dougie Hamilton then made it 4-0 with a beautiful goal at the 12:29 mark of the period to force Battalion coach Stan Butler to make a goaltending change, taking out Cody St. Jacques and putting in Matej Machovsky. The next bit of action wasn't so positive for either team as Alex Friesen laid a bone-crushing check-from-behind to a Battalion defender in the Brampton zone, which sparked a brouhaha behind the net. No individual fights occurred, however, Friesen was given a five minute checking-from-behind penalty and a game misconduct, while Dominic Alberga was given a two-minute roughing minor. With the play at four-on-four for two minutes, Darren Archibald wasted no time in completing the hat-trick as ripped home another powerful shot to increase the IceDogs' lead to 5-0 with just 19 seconds left in the period. As the two teams killed of the remaining seconds, the 'Dogs would take the 5-0 lead into the second intermission although Brampton led the shot clock 29-19. Mark Visentin played a solid game in net through two periods to maintain the commanding IceDogs lead. The Battalion finally broke Visentin's shutout 6:28 into the third period as captain Stephon Thorne converted with the help of Sam Carrick and Barclay Goodrow to cut the IceDogs lead to 5-1. Darren Archibald obviously wasn't happy with a four goal lead as his big body presence in front of the Battalion net allowed him to score yet another goal at the mark to give him four markers on the night and the 'Dogs a 6-1 lead. Victor Terreri picked up his second assist of the night on the play while Jason Wilson also added a helper. Niagara capped things off with another goal coming from Milan Doudera with just six seconds left in the game to give the IceDogs a 7-1 victory over the visiting Brampton Battalion. Doudera was playing in his first game in months as he suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the majority of the regular season. The second game of the series will take place this Sunday, Mar. 27 at 2 p.m. the PowerAde Centre in Brampton. Regular season ends with Archie scoring a goal and adding one assist in an 8-4 win over Kingston: Shortly after the goal, IceDogs defenseman Simon Gronvaldt received a minor penalty for hooking at the 8:39 mark. Not to worry though as Darren Archibald gave a solid effort while shorthanded to strip the puck from Fronts defender Erik Gudbranson before proceeding to exit the zone on a breakaway where he made no mistake in sniping a shot post-to-post and in to give the 'Dogs a 2-0 lead.

Archie scores his 40th in a losing cause: The Niagara IceDogs suffered a tough 2-1 loss to the Mississauga Majors in front of a sold-out crowd at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Thursday evening. Dalton McGrath played a solid game in net for the 'Dogs, stopping 39 shots and keeping his team in the game. Darren Archibald continued is hot-streak by opening the scoring at the 8:08 mark of the first on the power play to notch his 40th goal of the season and fourth in the last two games. McGrath, the IceDogs back-up goaltender got the start in net to give Mark Visentin a night off, came up with some monumental saves throughout the first period to help maintain the IceDogs' 1-0 lead. Shots were 14-11 in favour of Niagara after 20 minutes of play. The 'Dogs had a bit more trouble in the second as they spent much of the period in the defensive zone, but McGrath stood on his toes and stopped another 22 shots, keeping his team in the game and allowing them to hold on to their 1-0 lead going into the second intermission. Shots were 33-17 in favour of Mississauga after 40 minutes. Mississauga finally tied the game up on a power play at the 10:53 mark of the third, and after the goal, IceDogs assistant captain Darren Archibald was called for unsportsmanlike as he was disputing a missed call with the officials. The conversation didn't go his way, and the Majors found themselves with another power play opportunity. Devante Smith-Pelly took full advantage and scored his 36th goal of the season at the 12 minute mark to give the Majors their first lead of the game, 2-1. Although the 'Dogs had a final crack at a power play, the Majors were able to hold on to the 2-1 lead to pick up the win. The IceDogs will play their final game of the regular season at home this Saturday, Mar. 19th at 7 p.m. as they host the Kingston Frontenacs. Tickets for this game are still available and can be purchased at any IceDogs ticketing location, including the box office located at the Gatorade Garden City Complex which opens two hours prior to puck drop. Archie nets a hat trick! Darren Archibald's hat-trick boosted the Niagara IceDogs to a 6-3 victory over the Peterborough Petes Wednesday night in Peterborough, improving their record to 44-16-2-4. Along with Archibald's stellar play, Mitchell Theoret and Myles Doan also played a crucial role in the victory, while Ryan Strome and Dougie Hamilton both recorded points to continue their impressive sophomore campaigns. Both teams played well in the first period as they each created some quality scoring chances, while also playing well in their respective defensive ends. Goaltenders Mark Visentin and Andrew D'Agostini also played a solid game between the pipes in the first, and the two teams would head into the dressing room in a scoreless tie after 20 minutes. The Petes finally opened things up at the 1:58 mark as Austin Watson picked up his 33rd goal of the season to give his team a 1-0 lead in front of their home crowd. Just past the halfway point of the second, Darren Archibald tied things up with his 37th tally of the season with the help of Myles Doan to give the 'Dogs some life. Niagara killed off a couple penalties throughout the remainder of the period, but the score remained at a 1-1 going into the second intermission. Mitchell Theoret did a great job getting into the thick of things in the third period, and he drew a Petes penalty five minutes in to give the IceDogs their first power play of the game. Ryan Strome continued to prove he can shoot the puck as well as he can make plays as he sniped his 33rd goal of the season at the 6:10 mark to give the 'Dogs their first lead of the game, 2-1. Dougie Hamilton made a beautiful pass into the high slot to set up the play, picking up his 45th assist and 57th point. Shortly after Strome's marker, Theoret gave a solid effort racing to beat an icing, and he took a heavy check into the board from Peterborough enforcer Derek Mathers, who received a check from behind penalty, putting the IceDogs on the man advantage once again. Darren Archibald then converted his second goal of the game (38th of the season) at the 9:18 mark to give Niagara a 3-1 lead, making them two for two on the power play. Although Jason Wilson took a minor penalty for high-sticking shortly after the goal, the IceDogs scoring frenzy wouldn't end there as captain Andrew Agozzino exploded onto a breakaway after creating a turnover and made no mistake in picking the low left corner on D'Agostini's blocker side to notch his 42nd of the season shorthanded. However, that didn't end the Petes power play, and Luke Mercer took another minor for hooking to give them a five-on-three advantage. Lino Martschini capitalized on the Peterborough power play to cut the IceDogs lead to 4-2. To answer Martschini's tally, Mitchell Theoret continued his exceptional game for Niagara as he made a great individual effort to break into the Petes zone and pick the top-corner glove side to increase their lead to 5-2. Fittingly, Darren Archibald followed up with his 39th goal of the season to complete the hat-trick and give Niagara a commanding 6-2 lead. Myles Doan set up the play to pick up his third assist of the game and second on an Archibald goal. Peterborough continued the scoring trend to cut the lead once again to 6-3, but that's as far as they would get as the 'Dogs killed off the clock and took home their sixth straight victory over the Petes. The IceDogs return to action tomorrow night as they host the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors at 7 p.m., before playing their final game of the regular season this Saturday, Mar. 18 against the Kingston Frontenacs, also at 7 p.m. Both games take place at the Gatorade Garden City Complex, and there are still seats and standing room available, so don't forget to purchase your tickets and come support the IceDogs as they prepare to finish their most successful season since coming to Niagara. Archie nets the second goal of the night and his 36th of the year in a 4-3 win over Kingston. Andrew Agozzino led the Niagara IceDogs with two goals while Ryan Strome scored the shootout-winner as the 'Dogs defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 4-3 Sunday afternoon in Kingston, improving their record to 43-16-2-4. Agozzino's two goals give him 41 on the season, which is a new milestone for the IceDogs captain. Both goaltenders, Mark Visentin and Franky Palazzese, played exceptional games in net for their respective teams as they both stopped over 40 shots each, while also making some key saves in the shootout. Agozzino got things going early as he potted his 40th goal of the season just 3:44 into the first with the help of his linemates, David Pacan and Alex Friesen. This season is the first time he has reached 40 goals in his OHL career, having surpassed his previous season-best of 37 goals and 66 points, which he set last year. Agozzino's marker would be the lone goal of the period, and Niagara would take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, also leading the shot clock 14-10. The 'Dogs got things started again in the second period at the 4:07 mark as Steven Shipley sent a pass through the high slot to Darren Archibald, who dropped to one knee and one-timed the puck into the net from the right wing to put them up 2-0. Kingston answered back at the 8:54 mark of the frame as Mitch Gaulton picked up his 8th of the season on the power play to cut the IceDogs' lead to 2-1 - a score that would hold up after 40 minutes of play. Much like he did in the opening period, Andrew Agozzino converted early in the third to notch his second goal of the game and 41st of the season, increasing the Niagara lead to 3-1. Once again, the assists on Agozzino's tally went to Pacan and Friesen. However, it didn't take long for the Fronts to reply with a goal of their own coming from Derek Froats just over two minutes later, bringing the game within one goal at a 3-2 score. Kingston continued to put the pressure on in the latter half of the third, and Ethan Werek was able to beat Visentin at the 16:41 mark to tie the game 3-3, which would eventually force it into overtime. After a scoreless overtime frame, the game would be forced into a shootout with a 3-3 tie. After the first several shooters were unable to score, Ryan Strome continued to make his case as a top five draft pick as he scored the shootout winner, giving him game-winning goals in the past two consecutive road games. The IceDogs return to action this coming Wednesday, Mar. 16 as they pay a visit to the Peterborough Petes at 7 p.m., before returning to Niagara to play the final two games of the regular season at home. The 'Dogs will host the Mississauga Majors on Thursday, Mar. 17 at 7 p.m., before finishing the season Saturday, Mar. 19, also at 7 p.m. in a rematch against the Kingston Frontenacs. Seats are still available for both home games, and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets early and help fill the Gatorade Garden City Complex in support of your IceDogs as they finish their most successful season since the team arrived in Niagara. - Jeff Blay, Media Relations Scoreboard: 1. Archie nets #33 of the campaign. In the first period, after the Petes killed off the first minor penalty of the game, Darren Archibald opened the scoring even strength at the 11:03 mark to tally his 33rd goal of the season with the help of Steven Shipley and Myles Doan. Niagara IceDogs rookie Joel Wigle scored the first two goals of his OHL career to lead the 'Dogs to an 8-2 victory over the Peterborough Petes in front of a packed house at the Gatorade Garden City Complex Saturday night. Wigle, along with Myles Doan, Steven Shipley, Mitchell Theoret and Freddie Hamilton all had third point games, while Victor Terreri and Ryan Strome each had two point games for Niagara. In the first period, after the Petes killed off the first minor penalty of the game, Darren Archibald opened the scoring even strength at the 11:03 mark to tally his 33rd goal of the season with the help of Steven Shipley and Myles Doan. After missing the past four games due to an upper body injury he suffered last Thursday against the Owen Sound Attack, Ryan Strome showed he hasn't missed a beat as he picked up his 28th goal of the season with just under 19 seconds left in the first to make it 2-0 IceDogs. Freddie Hamilton and Mike Schwindt picked up the assists, and the IceDogs led the shot clock 22-5 after 20 minutes of play. At the six minute mark of the second period, Freddie Hamilton scored his 31st goal of the season for his second point of the night with the help of Tim Billingsley to make it 3-0 IceDogs. After the goal, the penalty kill went to work twice and killed off both penalties, but at the 13:24 mark, Austin Watson picked up his 31st of the season to break Mark Visentin's shutout and cut the 'Dogs lead to 3-1. The two goal gap wouldn't last for long as IceDogs' rookie Joel Wigle let a wicked shot go to beat the Peterborough netminder and pick up his first career Ontario Hockey League goal. It was a solid effort by the fourth line, as both Mitchell Theoret and Victor Terreri added assists on the play. Just under two minutes later, Myles Doan continued with his solid game as he notched his 8th of the season and second point of the night, while Mitchell Theoret recorded another assist to give him back-to-back multi-point games. Niagara would take a commanding 5-1 lead into the second intermission, outshooting the Petes 36-14. The IceDogs fourth line continued to put the pressure on early in the third as Mitchell Theoret proceeded with his stellar weekend by scoring his 8th of the season with Terreri and Wigle picking up their second points of the game on the play. Shortly after Theoret's marker, Joel Wigle followed up and put home his second goal of the night (third point) to increase the Niagara lead to 7-1, causing the Petes to change goalies. The change in net wouldn't do much for the Petes as Freddie Hamilton immediately picked up his second tally of the game to make it 8-1 with the help of Ryan Strome and Jason Wilson. Peterborough would however get one more goal at the 11:16 mark of the third as Luke Hietkamp beat Visentin unassisted to give the game a final score of 8-2. The IceDogs will play their final game of the weekend Sunday afternoon as they will pay a visit to the Brampton Battalion with a 2 p.m. puck drop. Fans are encouraged to make the short drive up the QEW and support the 'Dogs in person as tickets are still available, but the game can also be viewed on TVCogeco, The OHL Action Pack or heard on 105.1 The River. - Jeff Blay, Media Relations Scoreboard: 1.
