  1. Not sure when you are going to notice but the Canucks are not a contender,never mind a Cup favourite.In fact,the team has fallen off the hockey iceberg. Three years ago they were tops in the league.Now they battle for basement honors in various categories. This is how it looks when management have their acts together: Season GP W L OTL Pts GF GA Finish Playoffs 2008–09 82 53 19 10 116 274 196 1st, Northeast Lost in Conference Semifinals, 3–4 (Hurricanes) 2009–10 82 39 30 13 91 206 200 3rd, Northeast Lost in Conference Semifinals, 3–4 (Flyers) 2010–11 82 46 25 11 103 246 195 1st, Northeast Stanley Cup Champions, 4–3 (Canucks) 2011–12 82 49 29 4 102 269 202 1st, Northeast Lost in Conference Quarterfinals, 3–4 (Capitals) 2012–13 48 28 13 6 62 129 105 2nd, Northeast Lost in Stanley Cup Finals, 2-4 (Blackhawks)
  2. Dude,it is now a full three years and the team has finished worse each and every year.Cup favourites ,huh? That would be Boston.
  3. This is a game that (some of) you needed.
  4. Minnesota moves eight points up on Vancouver with a game in hand. Dallas slaughters Nashville.Seven Stars score a goal apiece. The very next night they take on the #1 team in the West, scoring four times to beat them,as well. Vancouver is playing for the season and their third line center is their only goal scorer. And with that we have year 44 in the books.
  5. A healthy first line takes the heat off of Kesler. Then again,we should know on or before draft day what his intentions truly were.
  6. #NHLDucks Boudreau announced that Teemu Selanne (rest) will not play tonight.Lindholm (rest) will not play Saturday against the Canucks, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
  7. Yeah, the team that can't win three in a row for months on end is not going to lose in those nine games.
  8. During the last three-four games of the season the top teams in the league that have a chance to make a real, legitimate run at the playoffs are not concerned about regular season stats.Additionally, the management and coaches do not threaten their playoff chances by placing their star players in danger of injury in meaningless games.
  9. Dallas has three games in hand.As for Minny fading because they play leading clubs,I don't see it. Teams that have made the playoffs start mailing it in. Minnesota,Phoenix and Dallas are front runners until they are not.
  10. Contract must be coming.Been a no show most of the year.
  11. This team was #1 in nearly every category three years ago. It is now in the bottom of the league in shots,PP,GPG,Team Shooting %...... The buck stops with those paid the big $$ to make the decisions and they are the responsible party for the product on the ice-coaches and players and everything in between-the whole product. Period.
  12. Players play.Managers construct the product or design the franchise, including the players(team) on the ice. It's not a difficult concept to digest.
  13. Underachieving management.Players don't decide who gets signed by Gillis and Gilman.
  14. Winnipeg takes on the #1 seed in the Pacific in SJ and wins it. How can you dislike a Winnipeg team that has not seen the playoffs since Teemu was 25 years of age? Mathematically speaking, how are the Canucks going to cover 6 points(and a game in hand so a possible 8 points) on Minny in their 7 remaining games? The Nucks have to get past Dallas, never mind Phoenix.Nashville and Washington are easy fodder for a surging Dallas team. Forget about Minnesota and Dallas and Phoenix have more to play for.
  15. LMFAOHe said Gillis is stubborn and arrogant. There is full agreement on this board and anybody that listens to Gillis for half a sentence concludes that is the case. We have heard some six years of this man's condescending arrogance and yet you still act like it isn't so. You don't agree while the overwhelming majority got it 5. whatever years ago.
  16. Dallas with a game in hand and 3 points over the Canucks. Phoenix with 6 points over the Canucks with 9 games left to play. It would have to take a collapse for either team and that is not happening. Hank and Burr out with no world class goaltender in net is not reassuring.
  17. It is a GPG average, not games played disadvantage. If anything ,a shortened season actually helped the Canucks GPG average as the last twenty games get tight. This team's PP ,GPG,goals scored and team shooting percentage has decreased y/o/y since the Cup Finals. Kesler's injury and a shorted season do not explain three years of increasingly poor performance. Personnel decisions are the main reason.
  18. The team needs more then one UFA to compete. Boston has scored 230 goals this year while Vancouver has scored 176. This is the worst GPG seasonal record in 17 years for the Canucks. First place Bruins. 20th place Canucks. Penny wise and pound foolish Gillis.
  19. Winnipeg is three points behind the Canucks with just one less win and 26 more goals scored.Whereas,Buffalo is gutted and have 28 points fewer than Vancouver and with the lowest goals scored in the entire league, fall short of Winnipeg by 64 goals. Colorado,Minnesota,LA and Anaheim are huge opponents for the Canucks without their captain and leading scorer.
  20. Apr. 12,2012 Gillis on the TEAM 1040 Re: Head injuries "The reality is we don't know and may never know." Not really what one expects to hear out of a NHL GM referring to the most deadly injury in his business. After signing brain damaged Booth to a $19m contract and following it up with a $28m contract to brain injured Daniel one would think he could attempt to educate himself on a primary level. His knowledge level is basically one of ignorance. The game of hockey accounts for half of the brain injuries in children and teens in Canada: http://www.ctvnews.ca/health/health-headlines/hockey-linked-to-nearly-half-of-brain-injuries-in-canada-s-kid-teen-athletes-1.1216150
  21. The moment Gillis traded for Booth a new contract was signed. He is then Canucks property.Gillis agreed to Booth's contract just as Tallon did not agree to Luongo's. Shooting for 25th place,Dragon fruit. Pat Quinn and Jake Milford (five years as GM/one cup final) say hello.
  22. So far it is Matthias for Luongo and Schneider plus pay Florida $800k per year until 2022($8m).
  23. All Gillis had to do was get a winger for the second line when Samuelsson left and he has failed to do it. To make matters worse he signed a multiple brain injured player for four years and $19m dollars. That loss of cap space ,along with the Ballard loss of cap space, effectively shut down the team core window. Could have signed anybody in the league for the second line, made an offer sheet proposal, conducted a trade....... and he signed Booth. The team gave him cap space and the owner gave him cap space and he blew it.
