  1. 99% chance Jays will make post season at this point, unfortunately they will most likely play the D-Rays. Hope they can somehow keep playing them like they did last series. I think the D-Rays are suffering at least one major injury plus that dude who knocked up a 14 year old girl, I imagine he probably won't be in the lineup
  2. The Jays, now, somehow, have an 84% of making the playoffs after tonight's game (I guess taking scheduling and other factors into account) I think most figured they were finished a week ago (including me) This has been a strange season Now hoping they finish 6th so they can play Minny rather then TB, but I certainly can't genuinely complain about that
  3. Usually the Blue Jays have just one game a week where it looks like they have no business being in the playoffs, but this week they had two against the O's This Boston series is going to be very consequential. If they win this series, they are looking very good, as many as 5 and a half up on Boston. If they lose, very, very different story
  4. Manoah: 6 IP 1 ER 8 Strikeouts (Including the side in the 6th) Its not conclusive, he was fighting it somewhat, but very very promising. I think most important of all he looked like he was having a very good time. Edit: Also, he picked up the win
  5. I mean, if their ERA for the rest of the season is 1.00 they'll probably be fine... but I'm pretty sure they need more offense Not that I mind all that much, the kind of pitching and defense they've had ought to make most teams envious.
  6. They are in a playoff spot right now, but it's been a weird season If they can: 1. Generate more offense 2. Win more divisional games They'll make it
  7. Anyone else loving what Raimel Tapia has been doing? Another triple, another infield single, starting rallies, doing it the hard way. His throwing arm... well he's not perfect, there's some room for improvement there, sorry Raimel. That was the only mediocre play I've seen from him in a month.
  8. The other day they only used relievers and they won the game easily, so they might try that. Their relief pitching is very good and a lot of those guys can pitch multiple innings
  9. Alek and Alejandro dominated. Espinal has been playing great all season. 8-2 in their last ten.
  10. Biggio waved to his mom in the stands after his homerun Great reversal compared to the last time they played the O's
  11. Bipolar team this year. At least 3 times this year they've gone through stretches where they lose something like 8 out of 10 and yet they're firmly in a playoff position right now.
  12. The Kama Sutra would be a joke. Im trying to think back of when I was that age and I cant imagine anyone would just burst out laughing, and I can't imagine anyone's first impulse would be to grant him/her the excuse of "Oh maybe he/she is just a historian or a psychologist or something, so thats fine" Im not sure that warrants nuking the whole thing, but man it would be messed up. If you want a difficult to accept yet extremely valuable historical lesson then teach your high school students that the Nazis borrowed heavily from Americas own overtly discriminatory practices
  13. I agree there are factors that have nothing to do with religion fueling this conflict,, however I cant overlook the fact that the US backs Israel for reasons that are definitely religious. A significant number of American Christians literally believe that if the conflict escalates and Israel is victorious, it will cause Armageddon, and this is somehow a desired outcome. Don't ask me why these particular Christians are the ultimate nihilists because it makes no sense to me either.
  14. I still think the main problem isn't really how much money is spent, but how it is spent. If cops had mandatory education,, with (for example) a degree in Criminal Psychology (and/or relevant fields) as a prerequisite, perhaps they'd be much better off in situations that too often escalate into tragedies. At the very least a high school diploma alone doesn't appear to be enough.
  15. I actually post links out of consideration really. Ideally it saves people the trouble of digging into a claim themselves.
  16. The problem is that it's bad for the bottom line. People who insist on espousing unpopular beliefs in public are bad for business. If their employers ignore the controversy by keeping them on the payroll it's going to cost them. These people should have known better and shut their yappers rather then embarrass their employers for no good reason. If you are trying to produce a movie the last thing you'd want is one of your actors making sure everyone knows about why they think doctors should go to prison for performing abortions, or why mandating people to wear masks during a pandemic is tyranny. "Why am I not allowed to cough and breath on people with a deadly virus flying around?" They might ask. Some people have this silly idea that free speech means you can say whatever you like and not have to worry about any consequences. None of this happens at the behest of a bunch of feminazi snowflakes. It's just people trying to run a business.
  17. Its difficult to imagine a situation where it would make sense. (Although it is possible if the world was unstable enough) Any kind off proliferation on our behalf, as things are today, would almost certainly put needless strain on the relationships with many of our allies. After all, Canada has already signed a treaty promising we wouldn't: https://www.un.org/disarmament/wmd/nuclear/npt/
  18. His take on socialism is unbelievable and unbelievably misinformed for one thing. He insists, among the many other qualities he fallaciously ascribes to socialism, that socialism is based on resentment towards the rich, when it's most commonly summed up as a critique of capitalism. But thats just what he does. Peterson is all to often either being dishonest or laughably misinterpretive when it comes to the conclusions he reaches, and this phenomenon is no better demonstrated when he concluded socialism was evil via his reading of Orwell, when Orwell was in fact a particularly enthusiastic socialist himself. This "Cultural Marxism" he likes to rail about in a wobbly and uncontrollable spastic fit is a direct descendant of what the Nazis called "Cultural Bolshevism" Its ironic because that is the kind of thinking that has the potential to doom our civilization, not this "socialism" he paints without nuance as on par with Stalinism or whatever, along with all its nefarious perpetrators that don't seem to actually exist. Considering how willing your typical Peterson supporter is to believe what he says without question, I think this is a problem.
  19. Blatant misinformation needs to be contested because the consequences can be disastrous. Its vital to push back against dudes like Peterson and his unfalsifiable woo for much the same reason as its important to push back against people who deny global warming, or those who don't believe in evolution, or those who think the world is flat, or those who claim that condoms cause (rather then prevent) STDs to spread (This list goes on for a very long time) Its important work that is badly needed in as much abundance as possible.
