  1. In any other instances involving spearing and Marchand, those two guys must think that the opposing team's player jumps on to Marchand's stick of their own volition.... regards, G.
  2. I'd prefer that the sound system had something from this decade, let alone this century... unless we're talking jazz or blues. regards, G.
  3. The difference in available talent might also be a factor in the current Utica team's success, yes? Does the current coach of the Utica team run his team under a set of requirements handed down by the parent team, or is he free to do as he pleases? The idea of coaching the minor league team in a similar fashion to the NHL team isn't necessarily a bad one, and I have a recollection that other teams have used this philosophy, and to great success. Whether that thought continued over different management teams, I can't say. regards, G.
  4. And also got Jokinen in that deal, who put up points at an even better pace than Vanek for the remainder of the season. regards, G.
  5. Canucks 4 - 2 Juulsen No pressure, kid. regards, G.
  6. Assuming Juulsen is playing, I will actually sorta' kinda' watch this game to see how he does. regards, G.
  7. Get back to me when we're down to blaming the ticket takers for everything. Those guys..... regards, G.
  8. I've been a fan of the idea that suspensions should be carried out in games versus the team which was "injured" by the action(s) of the offending player. I don't see a reason why the next three teams got an advantage against the Bruins at the cost of the Canucks losing a player to injury. So, in Marchand's case, where he injured Hamonic, the first game of his suspension would have been this last game against the Canucks. The remaining two games could be served in the playoffs (assuming the Canucks faced the Bruins in this year's playoffs), or next season in the regular season. Were Marchand injured when one of those games came up, then it carries over until he has missed a total of three games vs the Canucks. Money/fines happen right away. regards, G.
  9. Isn't there another version of this card (perhaps a foil card?), or another card which buffs this one, giving it the ability to to reduce Trample damage to 0, and also stop Flying creatures? Or is that aspect covered under "...block any number of creatures"? It's been a while.... regards, G.
  10. I see it as more of a cost too great to get these two RHD (in picks/prospects/etc), not the cap cost of their contracts. (Unrealistic example: Cernak's contract is only $2.95 million, and a young guy like Foote is still under $1 million, however....) regards, G.
  11. Sorry, not keeping up with current events, weren't the Canucks supposed to be tanking for somebody? regards, G.
  12. I'm tempted to say no shifts given, however, as with most things (?), it's probably going to be situational. Situational, but not regular shifts. It's nice that they say they want to PK, but what player doesn't want TOI, regardless of the role? Traditional(?) view, PK time gives the bottom-6 forwards a chance to get some TOI, and exert some energy so the top-6 can take a bit of a breather. If the game is tight, the team has a narrow lead and it's late in the 3rd period, I'm (probably) not starting Pettersson or Hughes in the defensive zone. On the other hand, if it's early in a game and the coach feels that a bit of energy being inserted into the game by some top-6 guys would be a good thing, then why not? If the faceoff is in the offensive zone, why wouldn't you have a couple of top-6 guys out there to try and score? This sort of risk could turn the game in your team's favour. And so on. regards, G.
  13. Don't disagree, but where would you have had the team (EVER) get a top-4 RHD in Benning's time? Often/usually those guys are acquired in the draft, and more often than not are from the first round pick a team has in any given draft. And what kind of guys are available in any given draft is usually a factor (lots of LHD but no RHD), and who has been picked before you get to select, etc. Let's look at the drafts under Benning, and which (if any) RHD could have been had in the first round: 2014 - took Virtanen (W) and McCann (C). RHD available: Honka, DeAngelo, anyone else was selected after Demko.(2nd rnd). 2015 - took Boeser (RW). RHD available: Juulsen, Carlo (taken 14 picks later), Cernak (taken 20 picks later Boeser), 2016 - took Juolevi (LHD)i. Maybe take McAvoy (RHD). or Fabbro (RHD), I'd still prefer Chtchrun or Sergachev (both LHD) 2017 - took Pettersson (C). Anyone want to give him back for Necas? How about any of the other RHD available? Foote? Jokiharju? 2018 - took Hughes.(LHD). Want to throw him back? RHD available: Bogvist? Bouchard? Dobson? Merkley? Johanssen? Bernard=Docker? Lundkvist? 2019 - Podkolzin (RW). RHD available: Soderstrom, Thomson. 2020 - no pick (20th OA). RHD available: Barron, Grans, 2021 - no pick (9th OA). RHD available: Cuelemans (taken 25th OA), Mailloux (there are issues with this guy) And trading for a top-4 RHD is pretty much not cost effective for most teams, particularly for re-building teams. Established teams have the picks/prospects which they might be willing to give up, or they are in great need of getting rid of cap/bad contracts, something which can hinder a team's progress. regards, G.
  14. I had a similar kind of day, minus working the 14 hours,,, Maybe something a bit quieter will help you get some rest. How about we throw this out on the back stoop and see if the cat licks it up. (it comes in at about 1:20) regards, G.
  15. I figure the DJ people should play Band Maid. It's new, it's high energy, with some really catchy melodies. And the team can (probably) get the rights for playing their tunes at a fairly low cost. People will be demanding longer periods of time between periods, heck even longer periods of time between whistles so the fans can hear the end of a song. Game attendance will likely go up because Band Maid isn't played on the radio here in NA. Problem solved. regards, G.
  16. Oh come on, don't be so negative... it might be only another 5 years of garbage.... and then 3 years of gomi. regards, G.
