  1. This was on the boob-tube earlier today. I didn't get a chance to watch it at that time, but I did find it on YouTube. It looks interesting. regards, G.
  2. From a few things which I've scanned, it seems like the Wild didn't think he was developing (fast) enough. He's also not all that heavy (maybe still at 180 lbs?) That video I linked earlier had some speculation by that local pod caster. He does appear to be more of a defense first type of d-man, so maybe the Wild didn't find him to be all that sexy after all? I wouldn't be hugely surprised if he started next season in the AHL (if for no reason other than the numbers game and he likely should be waivers exempt), or maybe he sees periodic duty as the 7th d-man until he shows what he can do. regards, G.
  3. Network issues? Ownership rights? Who knows? There is a bit of a saga for this show, both with the network affiliation and changes in the local station ownership. NBC seems to have always been drittsekks when it comes to restricting screenings of older shows. Perhaps you recall that "Almost Live!" was originally aired after SNL, and the local Seattle/Washington State audience demanded that it be put on before SNL, so they didn't have to wait until 1:00 AM to see it. KING complied, and put "Almost Live!" on at 11:30 (after the news). NBC network noticed the reduction in the SNL viewership (people were going to bed right after "Almost Live!" ended) and demanded that SNL be returned to the 11:30 time slot. This pushing back of "Almost Live!" to 1:00 was likely a factor in their revenues going down, which led to the new station ownership (from outside of the state market) cancelling the show. Perhaps they haven't seen high enough prospects for a financial return to put re-runs on. It was great while it lasted. Recurring skits like: Uncle Fran; Billy Kwan; their take-offs on network shows (like "Cops"); The Worst Girlfriend in the World"; Bill Nye; Speed Walking Man; or, perhaps my favorite, The Lame List (What's Weak, This Week); This person has a fairly lengthy list of skits: https://www.youtube.com/user/GeorgeBuford/videos regards, G.
  4. Well, I suppose he's as much of an expert as anyone else who does that sort of thing for a few years. As to the hat, there's a lot of Scandinavians in Minnesota, as in Ballard (down in Washington). I figured it was a cultural thing. regards, G.
  5. Minnesota podcast on the subject of the moment: regards, G.
  6. From the world of baseball: https://etcanada.com/news/904200/mlbs-los-angeles-angels-slammed-for-choosing-nickelback-as-game-anthem-continue-losing-streak/ Did the Angels eventually break the losing streak? Who freaking cares!? regards, G.
  7. Was it "happily", or was it something he recognized as being for the good of the team? regards, G.
  8. I'm still wanting the 2023 1st, a young RD (I'd be okay with Schneider), a young (not Kravtsov) forward, a younger NHL veteran forward, and if the Rangers want to throw in Kravtsov, then sure. Were the Canucks able to acquire Kravtsov's rights, where does he play? Looking at his past history, Kravtsov certainly wouldn't be inclined to do any time in the AHL If you were to ask him, he'd say he's the 1RW. Assuming Boeser is still here, does he then get put in as 2RW, and Podkolzin as 3RW? regards, G.
  9. I'm not seeing the appeal of Kravtsov. Yes, he has size, and he is a decent skater, with some offensive upside. He does have some defensive deficiencies, which may have been addressed over the last several years, or not. He also seems to have a large sense of entitlement, and looks to be a flight risk back to Mother Russia. The 1 yr extension doesn't make me feel all that secure, even though he is still an RFA at he end of this new deal. I see no reason that the Canucks would take on this problem child from the Rangers as a major piece in a Miller trade. If a deal had been successfully reached where the Canucks were getting the 2023 1st, a young RD, a not-Kravtsov young forward/center (potential for top-6), a youngish NHL veteran center/forward (25 - 27 yrs old, maybe as a 3C), and if it was a choice of Kravtsov or a 7th round pick as a throw in, then sure, . Maybe the Canucks could upsell him for a 6th should he decide he doesn't want to be here regards, G.
  10. I wonder if the thought processes in the Ranger's offices were along the lines of, "Look, we got a pretty good shot at getting to the finals with the team we already got. Maybe we do win the Cup this year or maybe we don't, but if we keep the guys that the Canucks are asking for, we will still have a pretty good shot at going to the finals in another year or two..." regards, G.
  11. I do believe the current management when they say they want to make changes, but those changes might be more efficiently handled by changing attitudes in the room, rather than moving out 80% (or more) of the current team. This being said, just how hard and fast is this 3 - 4 core number, and when does it actually come to mean "3 - 4 more"? Is Horvat's position really secure in this 3 - 4 core? One year left on his current deal. If he sees a 3 - 4 year (or more) re-build coming up, might he just say, "Thanks Vancouver, but My best chance to win a Cup is with (team X)." He could be quite helpful to a team making a Cup run. If the current management's intention is to not include Miller in this core group, then why are they talking about about trying to get him re-signed all while talking about how only the core will be here? Are they blowing smoke and they intend on doing a sign and trade? Or is Miller in cahoots with the team to make a deal which will get him paid and allow for a trade in the near future? What if Miller says "screw you" to Rutherford and demands a NMC or no deal? Or he decides he doesn't want to be part of a new rebuild and asks for a trade now, and he'll deal with the new team, or just go UFA. What about Ekman-Larsson and his NMC? Is Boeser in the same boat as Miller? Does he not believe Rutherford and he requests a trade outta; here? What about Garland? Good little player who puts in a lot of effort, and is on a reasonable contract. Not a core guy, so I guess he's gone too? There's rumors flowing around that Pearson, Dickinson and Myers are being put up for trade. Not core, so who cares, I guess. What about all of the bottom-6 forwards, lower level d-men and back-up goalies running around here? Are they all let go/traded and a whole new batch is brought in? Schenn? Martin? Rathbone? Dermott? Lamikko? Anyone sorry to see Hoglander go? What about Podkolzin? Is he still a project/prospect, or is he part of the young core? What do folks believe the Canucks might get for him? I suppose Lockwood is safe as he's still (mostly) a prospect? He should get a lot of TOI because pretty much everyone else has been moved out. I guess he'll get a lot of practice in passing drills... the kind where you pass the puck to yourself by shooting it off the boards. regards, G.
  12. This is along the lines of what I was considering. The observations on some the guys who might have come to the Canucks are also in the ballpark. I don't recall seeing Kravtsov's name from previous discussions. So, aside from the 1st, how much has the theoretical asking price to the Rangers for Miller gone up (considering one playoffs gone)? Schneider (in limited minutes/opportunity) didn't do that poorly, but didn't blow anyone's doors off. This being said, I do prefer him being more of a defense first type of guy. If asked, would the Rangers be willing to move out Lindgren as the young d-man? Might the Rangers be willing to add to the list of young forwards whose names were bandied about here? And do they try to get such a deal done prior to this year's draft? Otherwise, baseball.... regards, G.
  13. So, question of the moment, who thinks the Rangers would have gotten as far as they did had they traded for Miller (and lost whatever assets would have come to the Canucks in the various proposals)? I'm thinking they aren't that upset about not acquiring Miller by this season's TDL. regards, G.
  14. Currently listening to Herman Li's Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/hermanli (one of the guitarists for Dragon Force) Lots of info about playing guitar, etc and Metal. I don't play guitar, and I generally don't listen to Metal, but this is kinda' interesting. regards, G.
