  1. Yup. I suspect that will never be mistaken for McDavid when it comes to skating (or perhaps even point production), but if Gadjovich can get around the ice, keep up with the play, and not take (too many) penalties because his guy is getting past him, then I'll be content. regards, G.
  2. In F-1 there is a strength/endurance factor, but there are also reflexes to be considered. I suppose my point is not that one is more than another, but rather that is one a sport, and is the second also a sport. regards, G.
  3. A couple of Band Maid MVs on Youtube have recently hit million view marks. Yay! "Onset" is a live instrumental. "Dice" has jumped over the 6 million views mark: regards, G.
  4. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/582784/zev-podolski regards, G.
  5. This would be very unfair to all of the Benning bashers around here. They are just starting to almost get sorta' kinda' okay at their jabs. Pull Benning aside and he'd be a distraction to them while they try to develop their dislike for the new GM. Best to leave him where he is so they can properly develop. regards, G.
  6. It's an annual rite of Summer. Think of it as Tradition! regards, G.
  7. I don't see that he's become a speed demon, but he certainly seems to be able to get to the front of the net and do something once he's there. regards, G.
  8. I haven't read the rest of this thread, so maybe my point has already been mentioned: ever stop to think that the GMs of the other teams didn't think as highly of Gaudette as a number of posters around here? regards, G.
  9. Yeah, I could see me doing that, and then I'd swap them back again, and again and so on. It's a bit of a tough call for me, choosing to protect Motte, who is pretty good right now at what he does (being a bottom six PitA LW, and maybe he will get a lot better), and MacEwen, who is bigger, is listed as a C/RW, and potentially will be about as good as Motte, but could become a lot better than Motte. regards, G.
  10. Here's hoping that these young'uns play well in the remaining games. I'll probably even give up time watching the Giants to see how these kids do. In Gadjovich's case, re: skating, I'm wondering what the Canucks have done to help improve that aspect of his game. Maybe he has been working at it and his ability has plateaued? If so then this reduces his value. Horvat also had skating concerns when he was drafted, and in a fairly short time (1- 2 seasons?) he had made great strides........ regards, G.
  11. The Staal contract was also for only one year. The point I was getting at is they have to watch their cap this year, just like any other year, so without a sweetner of say some cap/salary retention as at least part of the deal then I don't see Seattle biting. So who is on your protected list? I assume Boeser, Horvat, Miller, Pettersson with Gadjovich, Lind and MacEwen? I'd have been okay with this prior to the team re-signing Pearson, and even if it left Motte off the list (he would be picked for sure were this case). As noted above, I'll always have Boeser, Horvat, Miller, Pettersson on my list, but picking the last three from Gadjovich, Lind, MacEwen, Motte and Pearson is kinda' tough, for various reasons. Without knowing the reasons, I'm surprised that the Canucks re-signed Pearson prior to the draft, but now that they have done so, it does make it easier in some ways as they can leave him dangling as bait. It's just a bad taste kind of thing. regards, G.
  12. Solid answer, but there could repercussions to that move which could come back to haunt the team. The draft was a reason I was surprised that the Pearson deal got done early. The team wouldn't have to worry about protecting Pearson. So you'd be protecting Boeser, Gadjovich, Horvat, Lind, MacEwen, Miller and Pettersson? Or is Motte in and someone else is out? For me the only sure bets for forwards to be protected are Boeser, Horvat, Miller and Pettersson. After them, it's protect the three most valuable from among Gadjovich, Lind, MacEwen, Motte and Pearson. regards, G.
  13. For you this answers a question I posed in a previous comment, "How high of a pick would you be content to give up to Seattle so that they did not pick Gadjovich (or Lind or MacEwen - I've expanded the choices so as to cover multiple bases)", For clarity I'm assuming the Canucks will protect: Boesser, Horvat, Miller, Motte, Pearson and Pettersson, leaving two Gadjovich, Lind and MacEwen on the outside looking in. Yes, Lind will very probably be protected, get off my case... Or, maybe the Canucks will leave someone like Motte and/or Pearson exposed, although there is word that Pearson will be on the list. So the next question(s), are these situations that similar that Seattle should be willing to accept a 2nd for someone else's cap dump? What about Seattle's cap? Just because Detroit accepted Staal for a 2nd doesn't mean that Seattle would accept Eriksson and a 2nd rather than take a promising prospect in an expansion draft. In Seattle's case, I see Gadjovich (et al) as being worth more to them than just a 2nd round pick, based on how Gadjovich (et al) appears to have developed. Bird in the hand thinking. I'd be thinking, were I the Seattle GM, is how to milk this for all I could. At the very least (and I'm assuming that there would be a lot of support here for this idea) Seattle would want 50% salary/cap retention by the Canucks as part of the deal. Is keeping half of Eriksson's paycheque and a 2nd still worth it? What's the next notch up from there? regards, G.
  14. Third round, 64th prospect selected in 2017. Might be a birthday thing? regards, G.
  15. Not sure of your meaning here. I assume you meant to say, "Draft picks aren't players." in which case I do agree with the bird in hand analogy. And what if Seattle also agrees with this train of thought? Why accept a pick and an aged/injured vet when there is a promising young player/prospect right in front of you? How high would anyone agree to go in giving up a pick as consideration for Seattle not selecting Gadjovich (or Lind or MacEwen or whoever else the Canucks want to keep, but can't be protected)? What if Seattle wanted a 2nd (which is what Gadjovich was selected at), would everyone still be okay with that level of compensation? I'm doubtful that Seattle would jump at the chance of taking an underperforming Roussel (semi-injured with only one year remaining on his current deal) or Beagle (injured and maybe a LITR for the one year remaining of his contract) for something like a 4th round pick. True, Beagle could be traded to some other tea looking for cap relief, but just how much does one year at $3 million get you (I don't really know but I suspect that there are some here who have an idea). Or, does the team leave Pearson exposed (supposedly they won't do this) in order to protect Lind, MacEwen and Gadjovich? Or is Pearson protected and one of MacEwen, Lind or Gadjovich left dangling? In any event, I do have hopes of seeing a line comprising MacEwen, Gadjovich and Lind at some point in the future. regards, G.
  16. 73 Percent giving draft picks away like they were Benning's candy... regards, G.
  17. Well, if he plays really, really, really well, who do the Canucks take off the protected list for the Seattle draft? regards, G.
  18. I got lured and instead watched this: A visual and auditory series of expectations, sometimes which occur, but often you are pointed in the wrong direction. People in the film can see all around them through the glass walls/doors but there is little to no communication between them because there is no means of contact. It is a film about a day with chance meetings, which turn into lifelong friendships, only to have them dissolve with the dawn of the following day. There is next to nothing in the way of dialogue to advance the plot. Most everything which needs saying is done as if you were hearing a conversation but from a distance, such that you barely hear anything and have to rely on physical cues and facial expressions to fill in the blanks. Slightly exaggerated sound.effects from the various mundane objects (doors are a big one) also help complete the scene. regards, G.
  19. I think I'm going to go watch a movie. Option #1: Diva (1981) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082269/?ref_=kw_li_i This is quirky and lots of fun. The opening sequence sets the film up. A Jules makes a bootleg tape of a diva who refuses to record (and sell records etc.). The Jules is noticed by two Japanese "businessmen" who want the tape. Things get complicated when a second tape is introduced into the story, which involves a French crime syndicate. Now, the Jules is being pursued by two groups, neither one knowing of the other group in the mix, and he meets a young woman who may provide a way out, but what are the real motivations of his saviours? Option #2: Mon Oncle (1958) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050706/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Jacques Tati. Warm, nostalgic and a lot of fun. Adrienne Servante (the woman we see doing the domestic chores in this scene) is really good. Tati is, of course, Tati. regards, G.
  20. I'm undecided about this duo (leaning towards "meh" based on this particular song): Still kinda' meh: regards, G.
  21. I'd be down with that, but I've never felt that many people were taking a look at BM on any regular basis, if at all (outside of of @Ghostsof1915 and myself). Speaking of Band Maid: Here's something which I barely have listened to: regards, G.
  22. This is just pretty damn perfect. regards, G.
  23. So, I woke up at about 0230 this AM. It was my fault as I had screwed up my sleep pattern for the previous few days. I got out of bed and went to look at my e-mail, and was pleased to see that my badgering of various friends to try some new music had paid off (again). One guy put me on to a fairly new group named Dry Cleaning. Parts of their sound remind me of CAKE (more the vocals but perhaps without the horn section). I suppose this could be described as "post punk"? The use of the curtains in the previous video reminds me of fashion from the Tudor period: Maybe it's the lack of sleep (maybe not), but I think I like these guys. regards, G.
