  1. Can't do? I'm not so sure that they recognize any limits. It would be more a thing of them knowing what they can do well, and realizing that there are some things which they shouldn't do, unless perhaps it was for an April 1st gimmick. Something which I think they probably shouldn't do/try is "growling". I believe I've listed this video here from a Chinese talent show at some point in past: *** Just noticed that this particular video doesn't show on the Canucks page (although I can see it quite well on my cmpt. There is a link to another performance by these two located at the lower left of the YT image. *** I certainly do not see Saiki singing either of these parts. Not sure that I'd want her to make the attempt. As she has a fairly pleasant soprano voice (with a lot of range in her sound), I can imagine Miku carrying off the shorter woman's part. What to do with the growler part? Maybe Miku could do it as she has gotten kinda' low in some of her back-up/harmonizing for BM tunes, but not like this. Physical appearance taken into consideration, maybe Misa would be a fit, however, she has demonstrated a higher end singing range comparable to Miku (limited evidence) - 0:54 mark Misa sounds clearer/cleaner than Miku in this particular instance. Also, Misa seems to shy away from the front row. There's also evidence of a much smaller and a bit older Miku being a brat by bullying her somewhat larger and a bit younger band mate in this video (Saiki:: Of the remaining band members (Akane and Kanami), Kanami doing this would go viral regardless of how well she did, which Mincho being Mincho, it would probably be surprisingly good. There's not a lot of video which shows either of these two singing, although Kanami (on acoustic guitar and back up vocals) has performed a couple of songs on stage with Saiki . I could see Akane taking a stab at this as she has shown to possess a certain amount "hey, let's do crazy!" She might not want to actually sing the part, but if lip syncing was the order of the day then she might be your gal: https://www.facebook.com/BandMaidFans/videos/3306477229409091/ regards, G.
  2. Arriving late (as it is baseball season), has there been any comment on Schmidt's goal where it appears that MacEwen touched the puck when the Senator's d-man passed it up the middle? I don't see anything on the broadcast totals to reflect that he should be getting an assist. regards, G.
  3. Absolutely agree. This guy was so under appreciated during his lifetime. Whenever I hear this, I'm thinking violins. He had perhaps the greatest musician quote of all time, in response to someone's comment that he always looked so calm while playing. "I may look calm on the outside, but inside I'm screaming." regards, G.
  4. @Ghostsof1915 Found this on the interwebz. It's a collaboration between this group (Unchain) and Band Maid members Miku (song lyrics) and Saiki.(singing). On first listen, it's not really my cuppa' but it is interesting to see/hear group members pushing their limits. regards, G.
  5. Despite other fairly recent acquisitions by the Leafs, there is still a very strong belief in Toronto that d-men are just forwards who play on a line without a center. regards, G.
  6. Perhaps this has already been mentioned, but there has to be a Sami Salo reference in here somewhere. regards, G.
  7. The Apricots circa 2000. 2010.3.7 23:43 Kyushu Expressway-Chugoku Expressway : regards, G.
  8. Fast answers, on my out for lunch. Need fud. 1.) Perhaps I am overestimating, but I feel that being a bit "negative" (not my normal style) leads to happiness should things work out in the Canucks' favour. 2.) The incentive for a lot of the guys listed is that Benning overpaid them (ask around, it's a regular complaint ). In other cases, eg. Hamonic, he wanted someplace on the left side of Canada and that was not Calgary or (iirc) Edmonton. He was even prepared to take a pay cut in order to make things work. Will he be as willing to take a cheap deal for this year, and at only one year? Maybe, maybe not. 3.) While I'm not as onside with the anti-Baumgartner camp as some, players can make their own assessments as to what a team says will be the player's role and what might happen once he gets here. Putting on my Negative Nabob hat, if the Canucks aren't overpaying in some way, are they that attractive a destination, at least right now rather than in a few years, even with a clear understanding of roles? 4.) The Virtanen for Miller trade would be fine by me (even the Mayfield suggestion): - assuming that Virtanen is still here to be moved (ie. not taken in the draft which could be a likely thing if he is left exposed, so this deal would have to happen before said draft). - assuming Buffalo agrees to the deal. As I see it/understand it, the Sabres have Ristolainen and Miller as the guys who fit the trade rules. If they trade Miller then they would have to leave Ristolainen exposed, which I don't believe they want to do, so they would have to keep Miller for the draft or find another d-man to use who fits the exposure requirements. If they find that guy before the draft, then all is well. - assuming the Canucks could take on the additional cap with Miller (an additional $1,325 million). Anyhoo, I suggest going out for a walk. It looks great out there. regards, G.
  9. I was kind of neutral about Madden, but I always felt he really needed some extra weight/body mass to really be successful at the NHL level. regards, G.
  10. Unless Hammonic signs for a lesser amount than he is worth (again), I'm assuming that the team will need at least two new RD for next season. UFA targets: While the team might be able to get them for less than what the Canucks are paying Myers, paying for even one of these guys will amount to a savings of maybe $1 million (+/- but probably -), nothing to sniff at, but not anything huge. What is their incentive to sign "here" when they would likely be closer to being on a competitive team somewhere else? Term would (probably) be a problem in some of those cases (eg. Savard at 4 yrs? that would rankle some) and others on the list will want more than what they are worth (which will rankle those not already rankled by term talk), so I'm thinking none of them come cheaper than $5 million per. Trade targets: I would think that Buffalo and the Islanders still need these guys, so I'd assume that the price tag(s) will be high(ish). What sort of assets should the Canucks move out in order to acquire at least one of Miller and Mayfield? High pick(s), and/or a good level of prospect (eg. Lind)? Meh, I've run out of steam. It's baseball season. Thanks for your time. regards, G.
  11. I can't say that for this last year and some I've been following the guys on the farm. I'd have assumed that Rathbone would still be in the AHL next season, for further seasoning. Will Rathbone be ready to play an entire NHL season (of however many games)? Assuming he was kept up with the big team for next season, this would leave the Canucks with a starting left side of Hughes, Juolevi and Rathbone (with Schmidt, ? and ? on the RD side). Seems rather inexperienced, some might say vulnerable. If the Canucks signed on a free agent LD (for example Edler, at a lesser than current deal, to play bottom-6 minutes) how much does that guy play while Rathbone sits in the pressbox? Might be better to leave Rathbone in Utica so he can still game experience. regards, G.
  12. Assuming Seattle did take Myers, what asset(s) would you be willing to use as trade bait for a replacement? Motte? Lind? A high pick? RD aren't inexpensive in trade, nad usually seem to be more so if the other GM recognizes your team's need. And signing free agent RD (probably) won't be inexpensive, however, the Canucks can probably get someone who is of average ability. Any thoughts on who the team should target? regards, G.
  13. I wouldn't have gone with Vatanen if he had one more year on his deal, and met the draft requirements (an extra $2 million on the cap). As it is, Bowey will likely be with the Canucks next season (barring some kind of player move), on a minimal contract. The deal is better than the Nattering Nabobs of Negativism would agree. regards, G.
