  1. ... and the ability to protect both Schmidt and Myers... which is important to some. regards, G.
  2. However, if the goal was to get a guy who could fill the need for a d-man to be exposed in the expansion draft, Bowey fills that need, Vatanen does not. Assuming Bowey doesn't get picked by Seattle (which is likely) he has a minimal contract for only one year. regards, G.
  3. The Canucks needing to acquire a guy to be used in the expansion draft was something I was suggesting some time ago. I even suggested Chicago/Bowey as an example of a team/player who could be trade partners. Other posters remarked (and rightly so) that Bowey was probably Chicago's sacrificial lamb for the draft (so they wouldn't need to expose one of Keith De Haan or Murphy - assuming the Hawks wanted to protect all three of these guys), and I agreed with their point, but I figured a trade along these lines was something which the Canucks would investigate. So, what the heck happened? The Hawks look like they could still use Bowey to cover their exposure needs, so why give up Bowey? Or do the Hawks figure they will lose someone good regardless of Bowey being there, so why not get something for him? regards, G.
  4. I WILL BET ANYONE ON THIS FORUM ANY ANOUNT OF MONEY THAT very few to no one who makes that bet hasn't got any amount of money to bet. regards, G.
  5. Chicago aside, for purposes of having a guy who could be made available for the expansion draft, I thought the Canucks needed/wanted a d-man... regards, G.
  6. Not quite my thing, but I did like the Marvin Gaye flavour in "I'll Take Her" (1:10ish in particular). regards, G.
  7. Here's something which I may have submitted earlier. Albion is now defunct power metal band (2013 - 15). I'm unaware if they wrote their own songs or had things written for them. They have the look, and they play fast, but they were lacking *something* (imo). A real drummer might have been nice (a good drummer can save a song which is drifting from the beat), and perhaps a rhythm guitar to round out the sound. Mostly, I find the vocals were the most significant concern. They either needed to get a different vocalist, or a supporting vocalist to counter-point the sound of the woman who was singing. A more soprano(ish) voice to compliment the singer in this song might have helped rather than relying only on backing tracks and drum machines. regards, G.
  8. And you aren't getting it, I do get it, and what is being picked at here has little to so with my initial comments. In principle, sure Seattle could do whatever Seattle wanted to do. I am working on the assumption that Seattle wouldn't select Pearson because of his (at the time) impending UFA status, age, etc. I believe that they would select a different guy, still under contract with the Canucks, and if Seattle did want Pearson then they could wait until he reached UFA status (assuming he reached UFA status), and if they signed him then they would have two players, for less effort. regards, G.
  9. Pretty much my point. *Maybe* Seattle selects him now, with a new contract, but even then, why not go for someone younger etc. This being said, if Seattle did Pearson now, what does that say about the remainder of the Canucks forwards who will be left exposed? regards, G.
  10. Arithmetic... It's a joke that keeps giving. regards, G.
  11. Cool. I still don't see a GM potentially wasting a pick on a guy who may bolt in 72 hours. Perhaps it has happened in the past (there's a little project for someone who has nothing better to do on a rainy Friday ). Otherwise, this has drifted from the original point where I entered the discussion, so I'm outta' here. regards, G.
  12. Yup, and if they don't come to terms, then Pearson walks and Seattle is down a player. So why risk that? Take a guy who you know you have under contract, and if you really, really, really want Pearson, look for him after he has reached UFA status (assuming he makes it to UFA status). regards, G.
  13. QUOTE FROM PREVIOUS RESPONSE: True dat. This being said, if you were the Seattle GM, would you risk taking Pearson, and have him being on your roster for perhaps only that week, and if he says no to your offer you're down a player? I don't see this as being comparable to GMs trading lower middle picks for upcoming UFAs who have made it clear that they will not sign with their current team, just to get a jump on negotiations with said player. Or, would you take a younger player with more years ahead of them, lesser cap hit, lots of potential, but who is also a bit of an unknown quantity? And you could still try to negotiate with Pearson (assuming he and the Canucks didn't sign a contract. I'm more of a bird in the hand kind of guy. regards, G. PS = play as the Seattle GM, and select only guys who are pending UFAs. You could do this, but why would you risk it? https://rateyourmusic.com/list/sandiron/a-list-of-japanese-all-girl-bands/
  14. I'm not really a Metal kind of guy (Jazz, Classical, R&B, Blues with a bit of a revived interest in Punk, Hip Hop, and a slight re-emergencing interest in Rock/Hard Rock - Band Maid). My (limited) current interests are based on songs/bands I am finding from Japanese music sites, but I'll be glad to share what I find as I go along. This is a pretty good site: https://rateyourmusic.com/ and more with a focus on "Girl" bands: https://rateyourmusic.com/list/sandiron/a-list-of-japanese-all-girl-bands/ regards, G.

  16. Just doing a drive by on my way to White Noise... Pearson was going to be a UFA at the end of the season, no? Because of this, if Vancouver didn't re-sign him, he wouldn't be on the list of available players from which Seattle could select. regards, G.
  17. Perhaps this is the lack of sleep talking here, is the point that the Canucks choose to play Pettersson against elite competition, or is it that the opposition coaches (given the choice) will play their elite lines against Pettersson so as to get away from Horvat (who is far better at faceoffs)? regards, G.
  18. Such a great performance. I also liked this from her: And although the Screaming Jay version is far better known, this is so damn good: regards, G.
  19. Yes, beautifully talented. I was reading some stuff regarding this release, by someone who has more music knowledge than myself, and this person pointed out some of the things which make this a "better" song than some (me included) may have thought when just giving it a casual listen. regards, G.
