  1. Perhaps I'm expressing comments which have already been voiced here, but I think Eliot is somewhat wrong: I like Schmidt and unless the return was *extremely* high, then I don't see him being traded. There is also the modified NTC to be considered. And there's also the question of "who plays defense here next season if Edler, Schmidt, Hammonic, Benn, (maybe Myers lost in the draft) et al are traded away or are not re-signed?" Yeah, of course, someone from the UFA pile of all-star d-men that will be just lying around next off season waiting to play here for cheap... with Hughes, maybe Juolevi, (possibly Myers) and some of the AHL guys. Demko will be lit up even more. Hammonic has that pesky NMC to consider, and he likes being here on the west coast. Maybe he'll accept a trade, and maybe he won't. Motte is worth more to the Canucks than the value he will likely return in trade. So, unless the the guys are sending a 1st/really good prospect type of return, then I'm not interested. regards, G.
  2. Well, you do realize that if you were to go back and read this thread (or others), you would see that your view of realism involves a pessimistic perspective on past events, and how the future will unfold. You may say that you are being "realistic", that the truth hurts, or any other such comment, but the vast majority of your comments come down on the side of doom and gloom, and you're just waiting for ownership, management, the coaching staff and the players to fail in fulfilling the hopes and dreams of the fanbase... just so you can say, "I told you so. This is not to suggest that you are trolling or are engaged in other such activity. It does point out that if one attempts to be the voice of reason or realism, being somewhere closer to the middle is an advantageous starting point. regards, G. PS - didn't have to go far for these:
  3. Maybe covering for the guy who was supposed to be on the point to prevent a short handed goal? regards, G.
  4. I'm reminded of this. It's ska, not punk, but the feeling is similar (*LANGUAGE!!!!!* :0): regards, G.
  5. Hmm, so what's the problem then? Are the Sabres not reading Mittelstadt's press clippings, or are they just looking at his game results? regards, G.
  6. I think it was something like this: "Away, you starvelling, you elf-skin, you dried neat's-tongue, bull's-pizzle, you stock fish!" However, I could be wrong. regards, G.
  7. Hmm, it seems that my body liked the big glass full of ice cold water so much yesterday at this time, that it decided it wanted a round two...haven't a clue about dinner. regards, G.
  8. I need something to get me back to sleep: regards, G.
  9. Tonight's menu? Geez man, it's like 3:30 in the morning! I'm not even thinking about food. Just lemme finish this big glass of ice cold water and I'll get back to you later.... regards, G.
  10. An anecdote involving Walter G., Harry Neale (back in the day - post coaching) was asked who he would take in the upcoming ameteur draft. Neale replied, "Well, I'd draft Walter Gretzky and the Sutter boy's old man, and then I'd start a stud farm..." regards, G.
  11. Hmm, so I was late coming in during the 1st period, and Virtanen scored. I just got back in the doot from picking up a pizza, and I see that Virtanen has scored, again. I'm thinking I should go out for another pizza in the 3rd period to assure a hat trick.. regards, G.
  12. Possibly, but if he treated/responded to fans the way he has reportedly treated players then the feathers really would be flying. regards, G.
  13. Meh, at this point I'm happy to see goals going in, whether it's from a wrist shot or bounced in off of someone's butt. regards, G.
  14. So, I just got here and I see that Virtanen scored. Damn, don't you just hate it when the "useless" guys do something right? regards, G.
  15. Well, from what I can make it, players like Virtanen and Gaudette aren't at a stage of development which it is believed they should be at (and the opinion from the brain trust is that they won't ever get any better). Therefore, these guys should be traded for picks of a lower value than that at which they were drafted because that it good asset management, and the approx $3.5(ish) million in savings allows for huge contracts to be signed by other young players who are popular... or something like that. regards, G.
  16. Otherwise, anyone else heard of this guy? I've only found out about him fairly recently from a mention on the Herman Li TWITCH stream with Miku and Kanami from Band Maid (it seems I don't get out much). regards, G.
  17. I like this! It has a real Tom Waits kind of feel to it. regards, G.
  18. I have to admit that I have second thoughts about protecting Virtanen/Gaudette over MacEwen, but not so much for Beagle. In Beagle's case, while I do like his play, age and only one more year on his current contract argues against protecting him. regards, G.
