  1. Back in the day, everyone would have had to stand for "God Save the Queen" at the end of the game... regards, G.
  2. Hmph, I figured it was because of the communist political system... regards, G.
  3. Dammit, if that had been Gaudette rather than Highmore on that play... well, he would have probably been sitting on the bench. regards. G.
  4. I would also be okay with this option. The caveat here is that it would cost assets to move up, while trading down brings in assets, .. unless there is a bigger deal in the works (eg. our well thought of veteran player for their highly valued prospect and an exchange of 1sts). Werk dem phones.... regards, G,
  5. Another LD? Depending on what the word on the floor is going into the draft, I might be convinced to trade down a few spots for one of those RD with size and defensive ability, unless there's something I haven't noticed in my quick scan of the prospects in that 15+ range. regards, G>
  6. I have a vague recollection of a Homer Simpson(?) line, how his family weren't quitters, they were losers... and when you think about it, being a loser is the better of the two options. regards, G.
  7. One of Michael Moorcock's fave bands. https://www.austinchronicle.com/daily/music/2019-03-28/qa-michael-moorcock-plays-hawkwind/ https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1985671.The_Time_of_the_Hawklords?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=WiSAJOJUhH&rank=1 regards, G.
  8. Well, Gaudette has scored a whopping 15 points this season, compared to Highmore's 10 points... but then there's that significant -9 that Gaudette is carrying around this season (to Highmore's 0). but then the +/- stat doesn't mean anything, and doesn't have any relation to wins and losses, right? regards, G.
  9. Ref: "Vancouver penalty, 2 minutes because we haven't given them a penalty in a while..." regards, G.
  10. Yeah, perhaps the wrist, and him not necessarily being prepared for "The league knows what you can do, so you'll have to work harder". regards, G.
  11. Yup, I am aware of the wrist issue. While the wrist can explain the lack of scoring earlier on, it also seems (at least to me) that Pettersson was a bit slow in other aspects of the game, no? regards, G.
  12. You mean like that Pettersson? He was kinda' MIA for a large part of the season. regards, G.
  13. In other sporting news, after two complete innings, the Giants are up 10-1 over the San Diego Padres.... regards, G.
  14. So, Seattle just went up 3-1, late in the 2nd period, and the commentators spent the majority of the time up to the face off, discussing Calgary chances, and how Gaudreau was gassed, coming back into the play late (as though it was some heroic effort on his part). regards, G.
  15. I haven't played any of this in while: regards, G.
  16. Yeah, I just noticed the Carter NMC. Good catch. The thing that gets me about some of the various teams/players in this part of the discussion, is that the players which are being mentioned as a "must sign" talent are all in that older side of their careers, being in the 35+ category, or getting really close to it. Some people around here mention that they think the team should re-sign a guy who is 27/28 and it's thought of as the dumbest move ever. regards, G.
  17. I don't quite see the issue with Miller going to Pittsburgh. Sure, the Penquins haven't re-signed Malkin, but do they really want to re-sign him? Is he still a good player? Yes, when he can play, and he has had a diminishing game count over the last while, with correspondingly lower point totals. He would also be covered under the 35+ clause, which would reduce interest by teams (I did not say negate, merely reduced). If Pittsburgh can't re-sign Malkin to a more conservative figure deal/term, and if they did acquire Miller, I would not be surprised to see Malkin go UFA. If I were Pittsburgh, I would be more concerned over losing Rust (edit: or Rakell) to free agency than letting Malkin leave. Letting Malkin walk, trading/extending Miller (for the proposed $8.5 million?) and putting the remainder of the Malkin money towards re-signing Rust could be do-able, no? The remaining signing could (probably) be handled by various player moves, and shipping contracts out to make cap room. Where it could get tricky is with Letang. Assuming Pittsburgh wants to re-sign Letang, the money from that could (probably) come from the trade of a forward (eg. Kapanen - again or Carter+ - draft pick), or they let Rakell walk. regards, G.
