Well, yeah, but if Hunt sits then who gets slotted into the whipping boy position? regards, G.

Potentially, but probably not the case. In any event, if the Canucks were looking to showcase Rathbone, then I would prefer that they did it over most/all of a full NHL season. regards, G.

What, is Hughes going to show Rathbone some old videos of how Pat Stapleton played? regards, G.

On second thought, I like this version more.... regards, G.

This is perhaps a bit late for the "official" season change... Hmm, someone with Youtube doesn't believe in Spring. Let's try this: regards, G.

I have to admit that in the last while I have not paid much attention to hockey (in general), and HNiC in particular. I have been spending more time watching baseball, and the play-by-play and colour commentators are pretty much a delight to listen to, regardless of the team which employs them. Case in point, a few nights ago, I was watching a 9 inning game which was already over by the bottom of the 5th, with the home team stomping the visitors. The home team guys calling the game were doing anything to try to keep fan interest, ears and eyes on the game. By the top of 7th inning they were discussing the best freeway route for driving to get to the stadium for the following day's away game. Once a particular route was agreed upon (factors considered: time, possible traffic congestion, etc), the conversation then evolved into what kind of food do you want to get for lunch while en route? One guy wanted a burger, while the other guy wanted chili, and neither could agree that the other guy's restaurant of choice could properly make what that guy wanted to eat. The conversation then became a further discussion of economy of time/distance; if you started from the same point, and travelled to each of the restaurants, which would allow you to get to the ballpark in time for the game? One location permitted a direct route to the park, while the other required a certain amount of back-tracking, so by the bottom of the 8th, it was finally decided that they were going to get burgers.... Glorious. regards, G.

Can't say that I disagree with any of this. There is a let's see if we can salvage something out of the Miller trade deal after it fell apart. The Rangers couldn't accept the Canucks' demands for Miller (and a package which included Motte), but just as they were about to hang up, someone said, "What about just for Motte?" The only thing that makes sense to me is that the team had no intention of re-signing Motte (for some reason). As he was a pending UFA, they got a 4th. I still think he was worth more. But hey, it's BASEBALL season just around the corner. GO GIANTS!!, Best wishes to you Jays fans, and for you Yankees and Dodgers fans..................... regards, G.

Well, what if Miller were "given away" by the equivalent level of bad deal? Rather than the 1st and multiple high end prospects which we were all hearing here, maybe the best offer was a 1st and one B prospect, who plays in a position which the Canucks don't really have a need? It would indeed be interesting to be a fly on the wall... regards, G.

I'm not disputing anything about the minutes Stecher played here, in the past. I'm not disputing that Stecher played behind Seider and Hronek in Detroit. I can't rightly say that these mean anything to the Canucks' current situation. Two years ago, Stecher became expendable to the Canucks because he fell down their depth chart, so he left as a UFA to Detroit. He is currently a pending UFA (again), and he was just moved in a trade for a 7th. Two different teams have set the current value of Stecher as a 7th, which is a bit better than being released on waivers, or just not re-signed (I guess). regards, G.
