  1. WTF Iginla is Kesler v2.0 ? first.... Iginla is older so it would be Kesler = Iginla 2.0 second... Iginla had good point totals with boston, is a class act and is well respected around the league, he is nothing like Kesler
  2. I think Burrows is staying and just stating that Hansen isn't going to buffalo in a trade. Iginla I think would be a great fit, be a great mentor for Kassian and Jensen, he's a good finisher and he seems to fit the Sedins cycle play.
  3. NTC stops Hansen and Burrows, and i think at this point Buff prob wants young players rather than vets. Tanev + Prospect (Markstrom ?) + 2015 1rst probably But yeah I agree Myers + Iggy + (M or H)iller and we are likely competitive enough to make the playoffs.
  4. Not much wrong you can do in signing him to a 1-2 year deal. I'm not sure what we are planning for the 2nd line centre. Not sure if Bonino is ready for a full-time 2nd line centre, and don't think Horvat is ready for that role either, so my guess is that management believes that Bonino is capable of 2nd line minutes and his ability to put up points. I do like his playmaking ability of which exceeds Kesler's which may mean that the line may be able to work as a cohesive unit rather and may be able to put up better points. I believe that if we sign Iginla (top 6), we are likely signing a UFA goalie like Miller or Hiller (#1 goalie) and we may end up trying to trade for a right-handed playmaking style defensemen maybe Myers if there is actual meat to the rumours of GMJB targeting him. I like our overall look and mix of young players and veterans in this case. Yet who knows what Benning is planning but I'm sure him and Linden has an idea of what they want this team to look like for next season. As a side note, even if Iginla does sign with us and we end up missing the playoffs we can end up trading him at the deadline to a contender.
  5. Honestly I think it'd be foolish for florida to use this first overall, there's still a ton of great players in the later parts of the draft, they don't need the bluechip prospect at this time, and they need to start turning out wins and playoff games while Luongo is there.
  6. Fair enough, I think Florida would want a good prospect included but I too think it's ludicrous to include Shinkaruk alongside Tanev and 6th to target the pick. All I know is that the next 2 days are going to be interesting, grab the popcorn lol
  7. The bolded statement makes no sense in my mind, You don't want to trade our prospects but you are willing to move our roster player for prospects to flip around and trade them without acknowledging that they could be more developed or more talented than the prospects we have. If we got a player like TT from Chicago or Pouliot from Pitts, theres no way i'd put them in the proposal over some of our other top prospects. There never is a sure thing with prospects but most analyst are saying that Reinhart is going to be a great 2nd line centre at the very least. I just can't wait for the draft too much going on here that anything can happen.
  8. Yakupov and Reinhart are completely different players.. I think Reinhart will be a great player that may even be able to step in this season.. He's just too smart and willing to play a two-way game to turn out like Yakupov.
  9. Sharp is a 30+ goal scorer, I'd do the Kesler trade in a heartbeat but doubt Chicago would...
  10. Tanev was always great bang for the buck he was paid, but I agree once his bucks are levelled to his pay he'll seem more average. I don't mind trading him, but I do have an issue of trading Tanev - Shinkaruk to move up 5 spots. I'm also a bit reluctant to see Shinkaruk be moved but if it's needed to get Reinhart then so be it, plus Kesler deal should get us young talent to replace the loss of Shinkaruk in our prospect pool
  11. More and more I see these insiders talk about the top 5, I have more doubts on moving up in the draft. If a reasonable deal is available then I'm for of it and I also do like Reinhart mainly because of his WHL and BC connection but there is no way I want to trade a Shinkaruk, Horvat type of prospect.
  12. Definitely can make comparisons to Shinkaruk and Schroeder, I have been disappointed in Schroeder's level of compete in the previous years, granted he has been riddled with injuries his whole career here. (I also think he can make it into the NHL but I see him more of a RW than a center) I think the two things that separate Shinkaruk and Schroeder is Shinkaruk's agility in terms of his turns and his footwork to fool goalies and defensmen, and he's got a sick sniper-style shot that seems like it could beat any goalie in the NHL. It's all debatable until either player actually goes out and proves something, but overall I want to see Shinkaruk play more before dealing him
  13. The thing I like most about Shinkaruk is his drive and compete level, he is a little speed demon, whether his size hinders his ability in the NHL is undetermined, but he definitely has the speed and the capable footwork to get around anyone in the league.
  14. tanev + 6th is what i'd want to see traded for the first overall, I'd like to see shink have a chance before trading him.
  15. um he put a good amount of blame on himself, he also said Torts was a good coach and that he believes that the players have the ability to play a high transition puck-control type of game.
  16. different time, different market, different circumstances...
  17. Why is there such an outrage here, we all knew Luongo wanted out... the ship sailed the minute Luongo said something publicly. IMO both parties should've handled it better, and right now we are actually getting something tangible back for Luongo that seems like a win to me.
  18. Horvat will get a good look on the 3rd line next year, Shinkaruk I doubt will be in the NHL next year, top 6 forwards usually need development time in the AHL to learn the defensive side of the game and to get the minutes for the tuning of their game. Either way, no to trading Horvat because he has a good chance at being the 3rd line centre, an important role for a player with a veritable toolset.
  19. Proven = expensive, too much proven = over cap. You need a mix of proven and potential going at the right time to be able to do anything in this cap era. If Horvat can land a 3rd line centre role next year and put up 20-40 points then I'd say that would be a huge asset for our team.
  20. Pfft, hindsight man, CDC is angry and wanted a rental, Gillis got a rental, rental doesn't pan out, CDC is angry at Gillis for getting a rental... GM is an unforgiving job
  21. Kassian has great hands and a pretty underrated playmaking skills. I like his vision and is willingness to try a new move on the rush. I like him with Kesler at the moment and another big top 6 forward on the left wing would make that line pretty tough to deal with. I also think he needs to improve on his board play mainly his positioning of his body to keep the puck better protected and provide more puck control in those situations.
  22. I don't think anyone would trade for Booth right now... he'll likely be a buyout next season as we need to clear some cap for sedins new contracts.
  23. I don't understand the hate on the trade, two UFA swap but Vanek is far greater of a player than Moulson. Not saying Matt is a terrible player but Vanek + Tavares is going to be siiiiick. I'm not really sure why buffalo would want Moulson, he's likely going to walk next season... seems like they could've maybe went for a good prospect + first which would've made sense. hmm, unless if they plan on flipping Moulson in a trade at the deadline (if they can't sign him at that point). Seems alright...
