  1. I stated previously that my dream draft would be Johnson, Morrow, and Brent Johnson 2 outta 3 were out of our range it appears but I'm still hoping for Brent :p pleaaaaase
  2. Yeah I believe in coach brindy but not really in their management philosophy.. trading away a good cheap goalie in njedkolvich and their general reluctance to pay their stars like aho and we'll see how the handle svechnikov now
  3. Isles traded up for that pick I remember when Boston had those 3 picks in a row and didn't draft barzal my jaw dropped and then they announced a trade for that pick and I was super disappointed it wasn't the Canucks lol
  4. Yeah that's usually a dick move for a gm to do and it sours player opinions of the organization but I hear ya works be great to get another 2nd / 3rd
  5. Yeah but I think KHL would be better. Harder competition and bigger bodies for him to learn how to use his body against men instead of shrimpy kids
  6. Yeah I kinda wanna see what he's got in a non covid messed up season on the right side of a player like OEL
  7. I'm hoping we can get Brent Johnson or of this draft Smart RHD. Best at zone transitions rather than offensive or defensive but those are both tools that can be developed
  8. I would like this pick if he played against men in the Belarus League. At least to warrant using a second... Yet the jb crew have picked gems before sooooo I'm not overly upset
  9. Wish we moved down to get more picks but meh. I wanted morrow but fine with any pick as they have earned some leeway
  10. Quinn is pretty professional and quite frankly Canucks are far better than NJD... 3 years is probably a fair time frame but yeah i don't think he's going to come out and say trade me to NJD. If anything NJD will come knocking and hopefully will blow our socks off
  11. The NJD connection is too strong... There is no rush though, pay Hughes a bridge deal and we can look at a trade to NJD whenever luke and Jack become more solidified NHLers
  12. Toffoli keh keh Jk I would hope for a first but I am doubtful lol
  13. With Weber being confirmed out for next season and maybe for the career.... Schmidt to Montreal?
  14. Too true risto is garbage compared to Schmidt and still got a roster piece 1rst and 2nd... Just give us a first and take Schmidt full contact plz. That said I think Schmidt is good and would be a great line mate with OEL
  15. OEL and Garland are good adds but that 56m or so is nuts without retention remember with those 3 (Rousell, Beagle, and Erickson) thats 12m in cap but only 8m in salary I sincerely hope the 9th OA garnered at least 2m retained
  16. What's funny is that whether or not Glass was Benning / Weisbrod guy or not is that anti Benning people seem to harp on that as a negative... Fact is that it takes great managerial strength to be able to listen and trust your staff and shows personal strength to be able to sway your own opinions In short they try to impose a negative when it's actually a positive
  17. I was rummaging around some expansion protection stuff and the Canucks clearly have 1-2 forward spots and 2 defense spots available I will use Winnipeg as an example here where if you look at there probably protection list they will leave Logan Stanley and Mason Appleton exposed otherwise their other players are not worthwhile. I would wonder if peg trades use those 2 players and we trade them back after the expansion draft at what valuation would that be fair or at the list worthwhile for us. Both are useful players that are cost controlled so would you, if you were Winnipeg, trade the 17th OA ? Couple of seconds? Or would those assets be worth more than those two players. I haven't looked at other teams as of yet but this type of deal would be ideal for teams that have 1 or 2 viable players that they'd rather keep and would have players that meet the exposure requirements that they'd be fine with losing..
  18. Top 6 flexible forward here's why: Schmidt in a regular year should be an upgrade Rathbone for a full year will be an upgrade from what we had last year Brad Shaw attention to defensive details should help our system play specifically in the defensive zone transitions Forwards are also involved and to blame for defensive lapses... I feel like the high goal against numbers are immediately blamed on the defense but really the issue is poor zone transitions that lead to turnovers... In short a good forward and forward depth also leads to better defense Our cap space is limited this year and becomes more infinitely flexible the next years. In any year we can't fix every problem at once but considering the high costs for defensemen in trades and the potential UFAs (mainly Morgan Reilly and Seth Jones) for next year it may be more reasonable to target a top 6 forward this year and a high-end defenseman the next
  19. I know we are all Canucks fans here but remember that regardless what the victim or the accused say, we as the public have no clue what is fact or false allegations It is best to take a step back and recognize that a woman could've been victimized and respect the legal process in place to hopefully find the truth.
  20. I concur with this. Besides I said this before... Depending on the way Seattle wants to handle the cap it is quite plausible that the retain 50% to regain assets because hey 3m x 2-3 years for a 3-4 defender that has some unique traits and has PP ability could return a decent pick
  21. I think 9OA you go BPA no matter what. Whether it's Johnson, McTavish, Lysell or whoever. The 2nd pick you can lean more into organizational need and target a defencemen there but if there is a faller like hogslander than I'm in! And the latter rounds is typically a mixture of high risk skill guys and low risk role players. I like Lysell too but his ranking seems to be oddly varied. This draft will be insane to see where these kids will go.
  22. Surprised nobody has mentioned Eichel and Reinhart yet. They seemingly want it and Reinhart wants to be out west. Be a giant boat load of things though lol
  23. Yeah, Myer's analytically isn't great but in general a RHD with Myers size, strength and skating ability would be appealing for most teams in the league... Seattle could in theory pick him up with the intention of trading him at 50% retention for a decent kickback on assets.
  24. well retaining 3m is dead space on the cap.. See how luongo cap is biting us in the butt, it would be the same thing there.. For Seattle they are dealing with a blank book and this is less obstructive for them. I like Myers too but in the third year that 6m is probably better suited to be used on contracts like Miller, Horvat, and Hogslander.
