Alexander Chmelevski at 185 to NJD seems like a crazy good steal wonder why he slipped so dramatically
-
kids got an insane stat line probably won't turn out but any small player can overcome size with a good stick and a good low center of gravity
-
oh shoot i read that opposite lol my bad
-
think 4more picks to our pick at 157 then we got 181 and 188
-
lmao wtf NYI drafted Sebastian Aho at 139 Maybe they are hoping to swap them around with Carolina without them knowing http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=67208 for a profile page. Looks good in description some decent stats but age 21 is an interesting age to be drafted
-
112 for 135 and 181 kinda wanted Chmelevski but maybe he sticks 23 picks later lol
-
2 in a row they trade one to when they traded up for arizona's 2nd
-
rathbone longterm puck moving defensemen good pickup, what we wanted in the 4th since Farrance was gone
-
Weight means little for goalies Height is what you look for, most goalies these days are 6'4 6'5 6'6 and lanky he is quite small but that doesn't stop Quick, i think a good athletic ability and great positioning can overcome any size deficiencies
-
Henry looks pretty good too! we got 2 fourths could look like some decent picks
-
for one of these 4ths we have kinda hope we grab Popugayev. Russian, long term project playing in our backyard. Has all the skill tools in a large large frame. But then again wouldn't mind picking up some defensive projects late too
-
DiPietro don't mind that pick gotta get some Demko insurrance will be a good asset in the future. Looks like a good kid
-
Dang son thanks for the tip! if that sounded sarcastic it wasn't lol seriously those Sportsnet garbage sucks
-
Man these Sportsnet guys need to stop babbling and just call out names and short bios and move on
-
man did not want Kailer Yamamoto to goto Edmonton.
-
think if Liljegren is still kicking around with Toronto maybe Tanev to Toronto for 17th, Carrick (defensive replacement) + something smallish ?

Quick lets trade Gudbranson to Flda for the 10th OA

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

Wait a tick... Valardi has high-end skill and size to back it up. He needs to up his skating but he looks to be a better pick overall. just pointing out the Virtanen mention doesn't really compare to either player in any real way. i do like Petterson, guy is playing with older men and looking great, played with Dahlen for whatever that is worth and he can play in the AHL next year (I believe) so that is pretty cool too probably a better pick in the 8-10 range though -

This draft is so wide open it's insane. tanev for 3rd OA this year would be a great acquisition. we could hold that 3rd in case hischier or Patrick falls to 3rd and if so then we could take that player or move down for a heftier price. i wouldn't mind moving down from 3rd to 7th and pick up another first along the way. Arizona may do that to move up for valardi or Heineken who seems to be closer to making an NHL roster than the other names out there. With 5th/7th/24th/33rd/55th we pick 5- Makar/Heiskenen/Petterson 7- Petterson/Glass 24-33-55-- Yamamoto/tippet/fallers Im highly intrigued with Petterson because I believe he is AHL eligible and can play with Dahlen in Utica next year. He is also skilled AF -

Yup it's something to take a look at the least. Hutton is also exempt from the expansion draft which may push his value up to even things up a bit. I'm interested in seeing how much teams value exempt players coming into this year -
Because the mystical tea leaves he read that day told him virtanen wasn't going to amount to anything for the first few years.... my mystical tea leaves are telling me that he's still a prospect and has time before he is deemed a failure.

people want a gritty, aggressive, skilled forward like tkachuk so we drafted Virtanen in 2014. Virtanen has a similar profile, yet people complain we didn't draft ehlers or nylander because we needed skill now we have virtanen in the system and people are whining that we didn't take tkachuk because they want grit, aggressive, skilled forwards makes my head spin, sh*t sometimes doesn't work out and whilst it's inexcusable to miss on 2 top 6 picks both those picks were reasonable picks to take based on need of the team. course when I say its inexcusable it's been less than a year for juolevi!! Even for Jake it's early to judge. In the end a career is defined by all of the years they go through in the NHL not just the first 1/2 seasons lol.
-
every prospect thread turns into a QQ shlda picked tkachuk / ehlers / nylander debate... well debate requires 2 sensible sides of the argument so maybe debate isn't a well suited word. too early to be overly excited as well as it is too early to be overly negative, deep breaths and ride it out boys and girls.
-
Its not Jake's game that changed it's the quality of players that he is playing against. in junior Jake had a mans body amongst boys who couldn't contain him. in the AHL these are men that usually have the body strength that Jake is not used to. which is the point where Jake needs to LEARN to use his strength and speed against the heavier competition and will also need to LEARN different ways to use his skillsets to become a regular NHLer. Yes the current status of Jake is disconcerting but this is the battle of development.

You do what you do for every prospect. He comes into camp and if his physical tools and technical skills are up to snuff you give him some regular season games and continue onwards. on the subban topic.. most have been extremely patient with subban and overall like his development. Most fans just want to see him in the NHL so they can see how he fairs. its not a call for him to stick or too even play for an extended period of time. especially now where the rest of the season is more about developing than anything.
