This trade has a lot more tentacles than just a 3rd out and a 3rd in.
Think deeper and smarter.
AHHHA! you slipped up... Lost you're cover. You're a Kraken fan!!!!. Should have known! Trying to turn innocent canuck fans against one another.... Well it won't work you krackhead! Go back to the dark dank depth from whence you came!!!

I don't know, maybe they have lives.
Or they are on other social media platforms. But because none of them fall in line with the narrative here, the general consensus seems to be that it's voodoo.
So again - Trumpian; a very small, passionate group of fans are going to follow their beloved leader no matter what facts or logic tells them and whoever goes against that is either toxic or part of the conspiracy.
Go suck an egg

[proposal] Ryan Murray might not be such a bad investment
- He’s a defensive defenseman
- He’s 27 years old and will be 28 in September
- He’s had a bit of a history with injuries which will naturally lower the term and money that he’d be able to command.
- The presence of Murray could allow for OEL to be used in more offensive situations while Murray would assume more defensive responsibilities.
Given the above, the Canucks would likely be able to sign him at decent term and money.
Yes, he’s a LHD, but more defensive defensemen in any form right now is a good thing for this club.
Who knows? One of Rathbone or Juolevi could be moved for help in another position.
OEL-Hamonic
Hughes-Savard
Murray-Myers
Schenn
ps - if the Canucks were to go this route, I’d try and see what type of young RHD prospects that we could get for both Rathbone and Juolevi. Who knows? Maybe a Braden Schneider or Bode Wilde type returns of Rathbone and Juolevi respectively (and yes, I do realize that I’m being crazy optimistic here).
I get what you're saying but then our defence becomes quite old, with no ready to make the jump d prospects. Don't want to let go of Rathbone... I think that would be a big mistake. Also, if we let go of Juolevi now, we'd get very little back, not to mention after all these years of injuries and patient development, we need to give him a chance and really see what he can be.

Positivity here borders on delusions at times , while being critical is met with pitchforks and angst.
That's because criticism is all around us in relation to the canucks and for many of us, 'delusional' or not have had a very rough go since covid showed up... And even longer for those that suffer from other challenges. Our sports teams give us a break from it all... A happy place. So why sh!t all over it.... When much of this world is in chaos? Just one place, one place of reprieve. However, freedom of speech is our right still lol? So I get it... Just think its sad to focus on the lack rather than the strength.... Yah dig?

To be quite honest with you, this is the ONLY place in canuckland that is somewhat positive... Thank god we have one place anyway! What's wrong with that?

Better correct mistakes quickly than magnify them by keeping a bad fit. See Ballard and Booth for examples.
I was excited when we got Ballard but just like Schmidt he just wasn't a good fit. Was kinda awkward goofy too! Very similar kinda guys personality wise.

What is the motivation? More money for UFA? Money for EP and Hughes?
Or have they just lost faith in him after last season?
Probably Holtby not wanting to be a back-up. Seems that both Holtby and Schmidt haven't really jellied with the young core.... Probably also to do with covid and taxes. Anyway, not the perfect look on the outside but helping get the room all heading the same direction together. Everybody in that room needs to want to be there and battle together, for a run at the playoffs.
I guess another way to look at it is, we're fortunate that Demko performed so well last year that it made Holtby expendable. He was expensive insurance but now we know we have a #1 young goaltender going forward.

JB going to have to some salary back.
I'd be surprise if they will have to retain salary.

Even more to the point, I don't really think that Rooster and Beagle were "mistakes". Both did yeoman service while they were here.
As far as Jake goes, at the time of the draft, we needed the kind of player he projected to be more than we did Ehlers. If a mistake was made there, perhaps it was in the pre-draft interview stage? Surely there must have been some warning signs.....
Yes.... I recall there were some questions with his relationships with his teammates but Benning chalked that up as being just young and immature. Also, Benning hadn't come around or open to picking smaller players (in early rounds). Jake was a big swing and miss but all the drafts since have shown he learned from that.

17 minutes ago, Ray_Cathode said:If Benning pulls off this debacle, it will just prove that he has learned nothing from the Eriksson, Beagle, and Roussel trades. There is only ONE year left on each of those awful deals, where he acquired players over or approaching thirty on multi year vastly over-priced deals for players that either have, or are teetering on, these players’ years of rapid decline.
Each of those players’ production declined sharply from the time they were acquired. Oh, and add Sutter to that same list. Ekman-Larson has been in decline from the time he got his EIGHT year contract, two years ago. As a re-inforcer, he just added Schmidt to that list of rapidly fading, superannuated, overpaid failures. Can’t blame the player... they just took the money. An NHL career, for the vast majority of players, is short, and theses players are no exception. Signing the vast majority of players approaching thirty, to high price, long term contracts, is absurdly stupid.
Benning appears to be doubling down on daft. This ridiculous trade would commit us to SIX more high priced years with Ekaman-Larsen, in order to get rid of one year each of Eriksson, Roussel, and Beagle. Arizona should be sending us the draft picks for getting rid of six years of Ekman-Larsen. We are rid of Eriksson et-al in a year. Benning is trading the crippling effect of his prior bad trades for six years of Ekman-Larsen, and giving up a high first and a second for the privilege. If you think second picks have no value - Demko and Hoglander are second picks.
If the owner’s weren’t asleep at the wheel, Benning would be down the road. Enough already. If they do this trade, I am done with them, and who exactly is going to populate that team in Abbotsford, with no draft picks of any worth to develop there, because we don’t draft hardly at all from Canadian Junior leagues - normally the players who need multi year development in the AHL. Most of our development now happens in Europe, so why the heck should I get season tickets in Abbotsford.
I live in Abbotsford, time to cultivate some support for the Kraken. It looks like they may have a team worth cheering for. What an immense disappointment are the Canucks.
Sweet! You're out!!!! This is a great day!!! First Loui now you!!! 2 big anchors gone... All the best with the kraken... Can't say I'll miss yah. Combover you next?!

I would sign Anisimov to a 2x2 deal. Draft Fedor Svechkov and then Svechkov can take over after 2 years and play with Podkolzin.
Maybe we can convince Kaprizov to come to Vancouver as a UFA after he's played in the KHL for 3 years.

My opinion yes, im usually spot on with these sorta things.
Not here... It was well know in the industry that Gillis was not popular within the GM circle. Much of that was due to his shrewd negotiator that went to the wall for his clients. His rep preceded him as he was transitioning to the GM position. It's an old boys club and his forward innovated way thinking and past dealing with his peers made for limited opportunities to do business with. Case and point.... He hasn't gotten a GM job since.... And he came 1 game from winning it all.

He really does... I totally why he gets the public appearance amongst fans that label him as a bit slow; it's his honesty and the fact that he always answers questions that he sometimes shouldn't even be answering.
Luckily, he's a great talent evaluator and seems to have good relationships amongst other GMs.
Does anyone remember how much resistance to trades Gillis faced when he was hired as our GM? He came in from being one of the super agents, and then became a GM and a lot of GMs wouldn't make deals with him.
Sure do! Especially after he stole Erhoff off of the sharks. He was not liked amongst his peers.... He had to win trades and that rubbed the other GM's the wrong way. He just had an aire about him that came off as arrogant. Sometimes spoke in a condescending tone. He made some great trades when other GM's worked with him for sure. He had some good innovative ideas too. Just the worst draft GM in canucks history!!!
