  1. I've realized that I have somewhat of a superiority complex when it come to hockey knowledge with the "average" hockey fan. I find myself getting very excited to unleash my research and knowledge on their opinions to impress them or something.

CDC is a nice community because I feel like a lot of users are like me and can relate.

i have learned a lot from others during my time on these boards

so i acknowledge others have serious knowledge about hockey

and i have benefitted from what i have read over the years

I'm lucky in the fact I'm surrounded by hockey fans who get the game and are very cynical of the fancy-pants dork stats movement.

My colleagues are Sabres, Habs, Flames (and of course) Leafs fans. But none of them are uninformed and they all truly love the game.

My wife's from Ottawa and loves the Sens a little more than the Nux, but has two older brothers and naturally was born into the game.

Occasionally I'm confronted with all out stupidity, and I just stare deadpan, breath and count to three before walking away or doing my best to be nice about it because I'm obliged due to a business function or "networking event".

In real life, you catch more fly's with honey, so be careful to not come off as having a superiority complex when correcting peoples ignorance. Especially considering you're banking on being an accountant. Relationships are everything in the business community. It's very important to be likeable even when you really need to destroy someone.
