  1. According to Hockey-Reference, since 1987, no NHL player has had more time on ice in a regular season game than Mattias Ohlund did on February 13, 1999, when he played 46:52 of the game. The game didn't even go into overtime. This was before I was a regular fan; does anyone know what caused such a dramatic amount of ice time?

      Ohlund was a horse, kind of like Horvat now.  I don't remember the game though.

      Honestly I'm guessing that it is a scoring error... they had Bertuzzi as playing 40 minutes that night, too.

      Either it's a scoring error or the Canucks deserved a bunch of too-many-men penalties.  I did some quick math.  The Canucks logged roughly 384 minutes of ice time that night.  5 guys x 60 minutes would only be 300.  And that doesn't take penalty time into account.
