  1. Based on a rough (and fairly high standard) estimate of needing a .600 point percentage to make the playoffs, we need to have a record of about .650 from now on to make the playoffs. An example record would be 42-21-8.

      It’s not as bad as it seems 4 pts out of 3 rd and the wild card position

      It's not as positive when you factor in games in hand. Vegas has ten points on us with the same games played. Calgary has four points on us with two games fewer played. Edmonton has six on us with the same amount of games played. LA and Seattle have four but we've got a game in hand. 

       

      Bottom line is we need to start winning more than we lose, and by a good margin, if we don't we're at the mercy of the rest of the conference like we were much of last season. Last season showed how hard it is to gain ground once you've dug a hole. 

       

      If we continue winning things get better, if we lose or simply play .500 hockey things get more dire as fewer games remain.
