  1. I think some guys also just don't show their emotions outwardly as much and you won't see it by their faces or dramatics as much. That said, as a fan, I do appreciate seeing the emotion of a big fist pump by Horvat when he scores or the determination on the face of Myers as he defends a teammate etc.
  2. At this point, I'm indifferent. Give him another year, I guess. Another bad year though and something definitely has to change.
  3. I would tend to agree. I think the coaches were hoping he'd turn into Tanev 2.0, but that doesn't seem to be happening, and Chatfield isn't of "prospect" age anymore, having just turned 25 years old.
  4. I expect Seattle will probably finish somewhere between 3rd and 5th, but we'll see how their team works out. I could see Calgary also bouncing back in a big way. All that said, I think it's too early to make any sort of good predictions for next year.
  5. 1st vaccine dose done! Really looking forward to going back to life as normal eventually.

Got mine a couple weeks back. Felt like crap for a couple days but all good after that.

I have a sore arm for now. If I'm lucky, it'll just be that.

@-AJ- That lasted about a week for me. Pretty painful Day 2 and 3.

  6. In what regard? I don't know Reinhart's game super well.
  7. Yeah, he'll certainly be dropping off by the time he's at 1200 and 1300 games etc., but there's also a chance that he gets closer to a point-per-game in his prime during his mid-20s.
  8. To be quite frank, I think he's been given enough ultimatums and chances. This team has been infinitely patient with Virtanen and last year, it looked like it was paying off, but then the playoffs and this year have been a dumpster fire for him. He signed a 2-year deal, lucky for him, but there's a chance he's bought out if the Acqulini's can stomach the cost. I think he just needs a restart of his hockey career and it's not gonna work in Vancouver IMO. Similar to Big Bert after the Moore incident (but for different reasons), he just needs to get away from here and start fresh.
  9. Could definitely happen. His current rate would suggest he'd need about 1400 games probably to get there, so he'd need a long and fairly healthy career.
  10. For anyone curious, at his current career pace (93 points in 126 career games, it would take Hughes about 554 games to catch Edler's career point total and become the new record holder (obviously there are still two games left this year and who knows, maybe Edler re-signs). That's 428 more games or just over 5 more seasons. So the math would suggest that at his current pace, Hughes could catch Edler in his 8th year with the Canucks (excluding his 5-game year) when he's about 26 or 27 years old.
  11. What do you know, another 2-goal game. Looks like he's picking it up again.
  12. The Petey point is a fair one I didn't think about.
  13. I just noticed that Boeser's production has slowed a bit of late--to the point that now this year is looking fairly average for him. Prior to the last two games, he had a 10-game stretch with 4 points, which isn't that bad, but not up to Boeser's standard. That said, he has two assists in his last two games, which is good to see and perhaps a turning point back to producing.
  14. Hoglander, Boeser, and Demko are probably the best stories I'd say.
  15. Good call actually. Would definitely be better to get the best person even if a no name than a PR move. Of course, maybe there is a role in which Courtnall would thrive.
  16. Honestly some of the most obvious cap circumvention I have seen in a long time. Quite a load of bull. I'm rooting for the Panthers either way though.
  17. Obviously cool. I have no idea what role he would have. Does he have any coaching experience?
  18. Good call on the PK. I think you're probably bang on. His playstyle is perfect for the PK and I bet he could thrive there with some practice.
  19. I picked Florida. They've been needing success and haven't won a Cup yet. Shocked to see the Avs dominating so much. I'm just jealous of Makar and we'd hear no end about how great he is if they won.
  20. It's one thing to be a d*ckwad against opponents, it's another to be hated by many of your own teammates. DeAngelo has a history of pissing off his own teammates by being overtly arrogant, sometimes beating his own teammates when they're already down after a tough loss. There's a stark contrast between guys like Burrows/Roussel, heck even Marchand, who piss off opponents and a guy that does that to his own teammates.
  21. He's the modern definition of a locker room cancer. He could get 100 points and he still wouldn't be worth it. I won't deny that he's very skilled, but even skill will only take you so far, especially in the modern sports world.
  22. I absolutely get Kesler vibes. Hyper-competitive and real emotional.
  23. I do love Miller and actually think he's being underrated this year overall, but it's an interesting way to see his frustration play out statistically.
  24. After watching Miller take a hooking penalty tonight, it occurred to me that it feels like he takes quite a few penalties. Sure enough when I look at net penalties/60 (drawn-taken), he's 2nd last on the team of anyone with 10+ games this year at -0.71. While Miller does take quite a few penalties, he particularly doesn't draw many, being 3rd last among forwards with 10+ games in that stat. Compared to last year, I was surprised to find that the difference wasn't actually huge, but Miller was 11th out of 17 forwards with at least 10 games last year in net penalties/60 at -0.17, which is still better. For some context, the top three forwards on the team in this stat in 2019-20 were Pettersson, Leivo, and Sutter, in that order and this year so far, it's Boyd, Pettersson, and Vesey (Sutter is 4th). Roussel has been dead last for both of the last two years.
