  1. Stop playing so much better, Myers. How am I supposed to justify my dislike of your contract?
  2. I believe the name "Utica Devils" was trademarked a week or two ago if I recall correctly, implying they will be getting another AHL team.
  3. I'm actually so pumped. I might actually go to quite a few games given how much closer Abby is (and with less traffic too). The pricing will hopefully be quite a bit cheaper than Canuck games too. Glad Utica keeps a team--they truly deserve one. Those fans should never be without a pro team again. EDIT: Already paid the deposit . Excited to see the start of the franchise.
  4. I believe you're right in that he will be protected. I'm just not sure if that's the right decision.
  5. He's having a good year, but even then he's not worth $6M. Never mind that the contract goes on for another three years. Unless he ages well (the deal takes him through his early 30s), the contract could look pretty bad in a year or two. I think it might be a good idea to leave him exposed, but a) I'm not sure if Seattle takes it (they might given his better year) b) we would need to replace his top 4 minutes
  6. Officially no longer in control of our playoff destiny now. A 10-0 record will get us a bit short of where Montreal is at now. Montreal would have to start playing worse along with a perfect record from us to get us in. For anyone too thick to realize--obviously I'm just doing the calculations for fun, I don't think there's a realistic chance we make it.
  7. And what would you have said if he had signed Tryamkin to a 2-year $3M/yr deal? There's no winning with some people.
  8. I'm pretty sure he thought very highly of himself and felt he was a bonafide top 4 guy in the NHL despite never proving it. His strong aversion to AHL hockey suggested that. Maybe Willie wasn't the problem there.
  9. I know most everyone (including myself) has realized we won't be making the playoffs, but for anyone curious, we need approximately a 10-0-1 record in our last 11 to catch Montreal right now at their current rate.

  10. I suppose there may be a case that this year is more of a blip, with a drastic drop in production. He almost certainly does better next year, but the question is how much better. You're correct in that he averages about 18 goals/82 games over the last 82 games, which is taken from a good sample IMO, the last three years. That said, he's always struggled a bit more with the playmaking side of things and he's gotten 28 assists in those 177 games, which is a 13-assist rate in 82 games. 31 points in 82 games isn't horrible and perfectly acceptable for a 3rd liner, but quite poor for a 2nd line guy (if one wants to argue that's where he's at). All we can do (if we keep him) is hope that he performs more like he did from 2018-2020 than he has in 2021 (and 2020 playoffs).
  11. The highlight of this game was the offense, but Dipietro was good too, saving 19 of 20 for a .950 save percentage.
  12. As I said, I'm not allowed to get vaccinated yet, because I'm only 28 years old and not in the "vulnerable" category. I'll get it once it's my turn.
  13. Too young and not vulnerable. I'll get it later once it's my turn.
  14. If my math is correct, Howe was almost 52 when he left the NHL, so I'm guessing Jagr goes for 53. Based on the article though, it sounds like he really feels like his body is finally giving out. It sounds like if he didn't feel as though he had obligations to Kladno, he would retire this year.
  15. Team needs about a 9-2-1 record to catch Montreal. Definitely pushing towards a no-go now.

Still proud of our boys for playing in such tough conditions.

Was never realistic without our best player.  Looking forward to a good draft pick and our assistant coaches replaced with people actually capable of doing the job.

It was extremely unrealistic to begin with.

    Ryan Miller | #30 | G

One of the best American goaltenders of all-time. Not sure how highly he ranks up there, but he's up there.
  17. Could be a make or break day for the team. If the same thing happens as on Monday (we lose in regulation, Montreal wins), we go down to needing about an 11-2-0 record to make it in, nearly impossible. Currently, we're at about a 10-4-0 record needed. If the best case scenario happens, we go to needing about a 9-4-0 record (8-4-1 if you want to be optimistic).
  18. How about you start arguing with evidence instead of throwing out smarmy one-liners?
  19. My calculations going into the game: If Montreal wins and we lose in regulation, we would need about a 10-4 record to end the season to catch Montreal. If Montreal loses in regulation and we win, we would need about an 8-6 record to end the season to catch Montreal. Obviously OT/SO losses can end up with something in between. A lot is hanging on these games. Need to keep winning to maintain our chances.
