  1. This is exactly how I see it. Unless we lose 12 in a row or something, I think the soonest Green is gone is early next year if we start poorly. If we miss the playoffs both this year and next, Benning is gone too, imo.
  2. Sad to see such a legend go. 11 Cups is dang impressive. The timing worked out perfectly for his career to be part of the entire late 50s Canadiens dynasty, the entire 60s dynasty, and the two cups in the early 70s.
  3. I can't see female coaches, but female GMs would be more plausible IMO. Probably a ways away though.
  4. I suspect that analytics will become far more advanced with puck tracking. The all-star game skills comp will become a lot less interesting with the hardest shots being tracked in regular season games and top speeds probably also being tracked some day.
  5. Obviously a puck shadow or trail would be annoying, but I would love to see more in-game data about puck speeds. Maybe someone somewhere had already hit 110mph and we just don't know it. I'm excited for this technology so long as it doesn't interfere with the visual aspect of the game.
  6. Must you construe everything as an opportunity to attack Benning?
  7. I feel like Green would be such an interesting interviewee if he were more open, but I understand why he's not. Hopefully, he opens up sometime later when he's retired from coaching.
  8. He's a dirty piece of .... that is only overlooked by fans sometimes because one of the few that's worse than him is also on his team. He's gotten away with far too much. I actually assumed he'd been at least suspended a few times, but to my amazement, it seems as though he's actually never been suspended, only fined.
  9. Notably, Lidstrom is the last rookie defenseman to hit at least 60 points though, which was nearly 30 years ago.
  10. It might be because he's not given that role that he feels comfortable to be more transparent.
  11. You could be right, but even then, there were other exceptions like the twins, who had beards and Kes almost always had a least something along with Juice. Maybe they gave veterans a free pass.
  12. Evidently Kesler, Torres, Lappy, and Burr didn't get the memo.
  13. I think if Hughes is within 0.05 points-per-game of Makar, you have to give it to him. Makar isn't bad defensively, but he's not as well-rounded as Hughes, which means Hughes doesn't need as many points as Makar to still be considered better.
  14. Holy smokes I live Domingue's new mask.

There’s a pic in his trade thread.

    3. DADDYROCK
  15. Fortunately, that's not what's expected of him currently. He may not be ready now, but give him some time and we'll see how he develops.
  16. He was decent against the Canes, just not amazing. Tonight, his save percentage was pretty bad though.
  17. Jake Virtanen playing out of his mind in what I suspect was only supposed to be a mid-game stint on the first line. The PP I don't have an answer for.
  18. Technically, none of us mods work for the Canucks (at least not for the forums) (unless I'm mistaken). We do what we do because we love this community and want to see it thrive. No money necessary.
  19. I don't think a lot of folks are terribly realistic with the idea of trading Eriksson. I honestly don't think you'll find any of the 30 teams who would be willing to trade a 7th round pick for 50% retained on Eriksson. We would need to give up more even if we retained 50%. Unless we're willing to give up another prospect/pick, we're not trading him. I think the most realistic way would be to send him to Utica in hopes that he tires of the AHL and then wants out.
  20. I think there's a great case to be made that Dahlin is below at least Makar and Hughes, but also keep in mind that he's 2 and 1 year(s) younger than those guys, respectively, which is significant at ages this young.
  21. Losing Tanev would hurt horribly and he'd be pretty hard to replace IMO, so I'd like to keep him if we can, but things will definitely be tight. Stecher is probably gone unless he takes a big discount. Sutter is still under contract for another year after this one, so unless we can find a trading partner, he won't be gone (though he could be plausibly bought out). I think Sutter's a terribly underrated player, but he's still being paid a lot and as such, probably has very little value on the trade market, so I don't think he'll be easy to offload. On the topic of Virtanen, he's already almost a 50-point player. He's on pace for 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists) in 82 games.
  22. I was on the Makar train up until recently. Hughes has taken it to another level. He has my vote now.
  23. Playing on the third line affected his February numbers, as I think almost all those games were on that unit. He has less of an excuse for January, but December was excellent. I even commented as soon as he was placed on the third line that there would be those who would neglect the difference in third line and first line for those games and here we are.
