Beating a dead horse doesn't make it any more dead. Most people, even those who once defended him (like myself), agree that Eriksson shouldn't be on our regular roster of 12 forwards. Continuing to berate and discredit him does no good, as he's already fully discredited. May as well be firing bullets into a dead body.
This has always stuck out in my mind and gets me so excited for him to return to the playoffs. Our top scorers in those playoffs were in a three-way tie, all with 3 points: the Sedins and Horvat.
I'm pumped to see him get another shot at playoff hockey.
I can see this as an issue if LE continues to get playing time, but is the spot of 13th forward really that valuable for a young kid? We could just theoretically keep him in that spot as a sort of limbo and just call up players straight to the lineup, jumping over Eriksson in the 13th forward spot.
I probably suspect that Green still sees more value in him that most fans and wants him around as a 13th forward for now. However, if we ever get a completely healthy forward group, I'd say he's in big danger of finally being waived since Gaudette is now playing far too well to go back to Utica.
To be fair, those are largely American terms from my experience. In my school, it was just Grade 9 though 12, no fancy names. Even in university, it was first-year, second-year, etc.
I'll miss the names a bit, but tbh, as someone who never went through organized hockey, I never knew which age group fitted into which name, so this is easier for me.
