Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Ray Bourque, and Patrick Roy. Not saying Foote didn't play his part, but you can't honestly compare the Avs of those days to the mid 2000s Senators.
This has to be Benning doing Biega a favour. We lose this deal badly imo. Thankfully, it's not a hugely consequential deal. I still maintain that Biega was probably the better #7 option over Fantenberg.
I challenge you to find any player who played for a single organization for 17 years who doesn't have their jersey number retired. Phillips earned this fair and square with a long-hard working career. No jokes here.
...Melnyk these days though...there might be something there.
I agree with @snipes2539 here. Eriksson was and might still be the better player over Lucic. That in addition to the fact that his contract is less terrible makes him have much less negative value. The biggest issue by far is the necessity to protect him, though unless I'm mistaken, Calgary got around that somehow didn't they?
45 points would obviously pro-rate to 90 points if we're using the 41-game mark. Most of the time 90 points is too low to get into the playoffs. The safer bet is 93-95 points as the bottom wildcard teams. If we're at 45 points, we'd at least be looking at a significant improvement probably, but we'd need to be even better probably to make the playoffs.
