  1. IMO we were the better team for about the last 45 minutes. The Oilers capitalized on some brutal mistakes of ours, but outside of that, we were dominating the play. We just couldn't finish our plays.
  2. Even though I'm not predicting it, I have no doubt at all that Pettersson can hit triple digits as soon as this year.
  3. To be fair, most pundits had us at dead last in 2018-19 with below 70 points. We finished quite a bit above that.
  4. Wonder how much his amazing season merited. One good season for a goalie is notoriously unreliable.
  5. Have you shared it on Reddit? I'm sure they'd like it there.
  6. Of all four guys, I think Tanev is probably the least likely to be captain. He's experienced and knows the game really well and even talks and directs other younger defensemen, but he's not exactly oozing charisma.
  7. Definitely gonna take the time to watch this at some point. I think I recall watching some of your other stuff and it's always been of a high quality. EDIT: Watched the whole thing now! Fantastic job! Loved it all.

    Alex Biega | #55 | D

I genuinely feel that Biega will be the better choice over Fantenberg, but I suspect Fantenberg being new and a bit younger than Biega have him an edge. Fantenberg historically has almost no offense, in stark contrast to Biega.
  9. In the same way the 90s Canucks were Bure's team, sure.
  10. Dang, are they really gonna give it to EP? He's a good choice, but Bo is better imo. Hoping they just switch Bo's A for a C.
  11. They keep him in the AHL and eat the $2M remaining cap I guess. Still not sure if he's worth that for AHL dominance though.
  12. Thank freakin' goodness. Now I hope Sven somehow takes this in stride and kills it in Utica to earn a call-up. Last time Baer was in the AHL was 2014-15 and he had 15 points in 15 games for the Comets. Hoping he can at least match that now.
  13. VC Reported that all Canucks passed through waivers. I'm honestly stunned that the Oilers didn't want him. IMO, he would instantly become their best winger. I guess the injury history combined with a noteworthy cap hit was enough to scare people off. Now it's up to Baertschi to prove that he's far too good for the AHL (for the second time in his career) and earn a job back here. EDIT: I realize that it's now also much easier to trade Baertschi with him having cleared waivers, so we still might trade him if we want the additional $2M off the books.
  14. Not likely. What's happening with Benning and Green is "behind closed doors" from our perspective and his.
  15. No. If he's moved, we have an "alumni" section to which it'd be moved.
  16. I don't think much will have changed. I'd say Schaller, but they could've done that now, so I'm not sure what would change in 20 or 30 games from now outside of injuries. Maybe Sven scores a point a game in Utica and Schaller has two points in 30 games. Is that enough to change things? I'm not sure anyone, because their priorities are evidently different than I thought.
  17. I think you've hit the nail on the head. His injury history almost certainly played a big part in this decision. I'm ever hopeful he can be healthy again, but I guess Benning & Co. don't think it'll happen.
  18. Imo Baer did beat them. He's better than both of them. He had 4 points in 5 pre-season games. How was that worse than Ferland or Pearson? I think Jim made his decision about the top two lines before training camp began because Baertschi played better than both of them and still got the short end of the stick.
  19. His last three years project to 22, 22, and 28 goals. He consistently scores at a 20+ goal rate.
  20. All this is true, but a healthy Baertschi adds 20-25 goals--definitely more than either Virtanen or Gaudette unless Gaudette really is that good now.
  21. I wish I could justify creating a new thread, because other than their comments on Goldobin PITB here perfectly encapsulates my feelings on this issue: https://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/canucks-camp-cuts-sven-baertschi-nikolay-goldobin-and-alex-biega-put-on-waivers-1.23962094 For the record, I also disagree with the waiving of Biega over Fantenberg.
  22. If Gaudette produces 40 points, I will chill out. I really hate to put this on him though. It's Benning's decision, not Gaudette's.
  23. Honestly, this is freakin' insane to me. Aside from injuries, I'd have Baertschi as a better offensive player than either Pearson or Ferland. I think there's a very very high chance he's claimed. I support Benning and what he's been doing, but my knee jerk reaction is that this is a very stupid move. I hope Benning proves me wrong again, but I have a bad feeling about this one.
