  1. I can agree with some of what you say here. There's no doubt that Burr was a smarter player than Virtanen. I'm not sure Virtanen could really keep up with the twins if he were to play with them. I guess the only key similarity I was referring to was responsibility in aggressive play. They both play a tenacious style of hockey, though there are other differences in their games outside of that.
  2. Burrows is a perfect example. Was notorious for taking dumb penalties early in his career with years of 179, 150, and 121 PIM early on (1.83 PIM/Game), but lowered that to about 1.11 PIM/Game in the following three years.
  3. I went a full 75 minutes of work today before checking up on CDC. I'm so proud of myself.

I went a full 2 hours without needing to change my Depends.  I like these “I’m proud of myself for” threads.

5 days into my week long Mexico vacation...I have just broke.

  4. How about Brandon Sutter as the most underrated Canuck this year for the Fred J. Hume award? Man is an absolute stud on defense and is only scoring slightly less than last year.

many night's he's had 90-100% d-zone starts and still has decent possession numbers.

Joe said it best! Same way I feel about Granny and to a lesser extent Loui and Dorse.

I'd be ok with Sutter or Stecher

    Alex Biega | #55 | D

Biega has seven points and has tied his previous best of 7 points, but in 35 games compared to 51 games. Is he getting better or was he just lucky this year?
  6. Saw people complaining about his video gaming on here (mostly Facebook). Seems ridiculous to me. A man's gotta have hobbies outside of his job.
  7. I think he's said in the past that he's tired of conforming to writing standards as he's done all his life, so this is his way of doing things his own way. That said, I find it very difficult to read as well.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

It's not blind. Those who watch the game and look for more than points see his value. Goldobin is worth half of what Gaunce brings right now.
  9. I feel ya. I felt pretty helpless and lowered my standards pretty far just because I need something...anything to get going on my resume. That said, I really enjoyed all the time off, as I live at home, so finances weren't of much concern. It would've been a different story had I been living on my own.
  10. Ahh, keep pluggin' away. Took me like 50 applications before I finally got a job and even that was only a temporary one with an extremely small company, but it paved the way to a permanent one a few months later. Sounds like you have a masters degree (or are working towards one). Are you looking for your first career job or is this an upgrade sort of opportunity?
  11. How'd it go? I applied for PwC, but they didn't even give me an interview, so you're already ahead of me

    Daily Poll #29

We always do well against the Blackhawks.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Pyatt had no defense and a mediocre scoring ability. He had no defined role and couldn't fit well anywhere except when the Sedins carried him on their line. Gaunce is a defensive master and has a clearly defined role. He'll have a stable career as a shutdown forward. He's not the next coming of Todd Bertuzzi or Raffi Torres, but he finishes his checks and plays pretty hard in the corners.
  14. Fun fact: Since 2012-13, Edler is 6 for 10 on faceoffs, giving him a 60% rate. Switch to centre?

I have no problem with that , he'll still be able screen our goalie as a center  :P

Shout out to the time @Patrick Kane wanted to convert Edler into an elite power-forward.

its too bad we still don't have Frankie Corrado and Jordan Subban.... think of the potential of a Subban-Edler-Corrado line. Magic.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Ah. As you can see, I'm not watching too many games these days. Not much to watch.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Dang, he's huge for our defensive game. Having Tanev back is nice, but we're also missing our great defensive forwards in Sutter and Gaunce too.
  17. An upgrade in a physical sense, yes, but he's not to the offensive level of Burr yet.
  18. 9:48 on a broken leg. Incredible.
  19. This makes little sense. It's been 11 days since his injury. Has he really healed up? Please don't play him just so we can score some goals if he's still injured. That said, if he's actually healed up...that would be a miracle. Do you have to be taken off the IR first to be moved to LTIR? Maybe that's happening? The original estimate was 4-6 weeks, so two weeks would be insane.
  20. According to Hockey-Reference, since 1987, no NHL player has had more time on ice in a regular season game than Mattias Ohlund did on February 13, 1999, when he played 46:52 of the game. The game didn't even go into overtime. This was before I was a regular fan; does anyone know what caused such a dramatic amount of ice time?

@Alflives the late 90's were the "Dark Ages" of Canucks history - nobody wants to remember those games ;)

      Injuries, ejections to other d-men?

  21. Perhaps this could even be it's own topic, though maybe once the season is over and finished: I think an interesting discussion will be on who had a better rookie season, Bure or Boeser? In Bure's favour: - He scored more goals (34 goals and 60 points to Boeser's 29 goals and 55 points) - He had a higher points-per-game (0.92 points-per-game to Boeser's 0.89 points-per-game) - He won the Calder In Boeser's favour: - He played in a less offensive era - He was undoubtedly the best player on the team, whereas Bure had Linden, Larionov, and Courtnall to rival him - Boeser's 2017-18 Canucks were much worse than Bure's 1991-92 Canucks There's a chance Boeser plays a few games at the end of this season, so things could change a bit, but I think this is an interesting discussion.
