  1. Big chunks of snow in Abbotsford now.
  2. We're supposed to get 10 - 20 centimetres in Abbotsford today. I'm secretly hoping that one of my superiors comes in and just sends us all home early in concerns for the driving conditions.

    Ben Hutton | #27 | D

At this point, it feels like Hutton is in Green's doghouse and he's not being given much of a chance anymore.
  4. I'm concerned that we'll spend assets on acquiring a physical forward when Archie might end up filling that role anyways.
  5. At this point, there's almost no chance Boeser wins the Calder. If he's hurt, just take a week or two off, whatever it takes.
  6. Sven is outproducing both of them by quite a bit. He has 5 points and +3 in his last 5 games. Virtanen and Goldobin have combined for five points in their last five games and +1. That said, it's obvious that anyone playing with Horvat gets their numbers a bit inflated. I can see how Goldobin might work with Horvat, but I don't see Virtanen working. Horvat thinks the game at a high level and Virtanen's game is much simpler--just drive the net and create chances. Goldobin, like Horvat, Baertschi, and Boeser, thinks the game at a high level and could mesh well.
  7. I would say Granlund is a big part of our PK. Tanev is a big part of our entire defense, period. As soon as he goes, the goals against inflate.
  8. I used to think this, but I'm not as sold on it anymore. There's no way I'd say he's good defensively, but simply looking at his CORSI/Fenwick is only half the picture. His offensive zone start % is fairly low at 45.8%, which makes it more difficult to have good possession stats. The same goes for +/-, where he's -4, above Edler, Stecher, Del Zotto, and Pouliot. Again, I'm not saying he's good defensively, but I wouldn't be so quick to say he's one of the worst defensive defensemen in the NHL.
  9. No, I'd guess that HF Boards just all want him traded.

Last year, Hutton added a bunch of weight, turning him from average, to a fairly big defenseman. Somehting like 195 lbs to 207 lbs. That said, it seems like it largely just made him a bit slower and more sluggish. I've seen bits of his bigger size come into play, but not often enough given his size. If he wants to be 207 lbs, it makes sense for him to use that size more. If he played like Stecher does, he'd be smashing guys left and right.
  11. True. If it was 2 years, I could live with it. Three would be pushing it for me.
  12. At this point, I would be thrilled with anything less than $4M. I could live with up to $4.25. I wouldn't be that happy with $4.5M, but I would trust that Benning knows more than I. If it went to something like $5M, I would be frustrated.
  13. At some point, someone probably will, but it might be safe to wait until he's in the Ring of Honour.
  14. Maybe we should start playing him on the PP more. If his accuracy is anything decent, he could be a legitimate PP scoring threat.
  15. McDavid did it in 13.31 seconds. Jake did it in 13.471...with a cape.
  16. I loved those commercials. Best promotion the NHL has ever made.
  17. Honestly, I've really come to appreciate what Guddy brings, but I'm still concerned that he'll get too much. Let's hope it's not over the top.
  18. My first post in this thread. Can't disagree too much with myself 7.5 years ago here.
  19. Let's just say...he's not able to respond anymore.
  20. Vintage has notified me that I'm incorrect; the positioning is the same. Also, all rinks are a stanard 85ft x 200 ft, so the rinks are the same size. I guess Jake is just that fast.
  21. I think the nets were pulled in closer than for McDavid's lap, so Jake's lap was shorter. EDIT: Turns out, I'm wrong. Jake is just that fast.
  22. 59 games through the season, Henrik already has more assists than he had in all 82 games of last year. He's still on pace to get 50 assists.
  23. I can agree with that. I too expect his development to be on the slower side.
  24. Hansen was, in my books, the best third liner in the league for several years. If Virtanen could be an upgrade on Hansen, that would be incredible. Still, at this point, Virtanen is probably a notch below Hansen in every category except hitting ability (offense, defense, speed, and aggression). I too hope that Virtanen can step up his game to become more like Hansen. Those are the kind of players that really shine during playoff hockey.
  25. Maybe it's just my biased view, but Baertschi looks like a player who plays hard when I watch him. He goes into the dirty corners to fetch pucks and isn't afraid to get in front of the net either.
