  1. Sounds a lot like "x person is rich, let's find a reason to sue him".
  2. This video made the front page of YouTube when that was still a thing. I remember being beyond hyped for the 2010-11 season after this:
  3. Yeah Bo isn't really even close to Top 20 Cs IMO. Average defense, solid goal scoring, and face-off ace. That said, if this were based off last year alone, Miller could be a spot or two higher. Who knows if he can do it again this year or not though.
  4. I remember when Virtanen beat out McDavid, but honestly that one was at the end of a shift for McDavid and Virtanen had the earlier start. This one looks pretty fair for both parties. Crazy how fast he is.
  5. I somehow passed my CPA CFE. Still having trouble believing it's finally over.

I still have to get experience to become a CPA, but the worst of it is over.

Guy goes to his lawyer and asks what is 2 plus 2? Lawyer says it depends on a number of factors but we will try to convince the Judge it is 4.

Guy goes to an engineer and says what is 2 plus 2? Engineer pulls out a slide rule and says I think I can prove without a shadow of a doubt that it is 4.

Guy goes to his accountant and says  what is 2 plus 2?  Accountant closes the door, pulls down the blinds, leans in and says, what do you want it to be?

@fanfor42...that's some Enron kind of accounting.

  6. Rather boring player, but could be effective as bottom pairing depth in case Rathbone isn't ready. Might be better than Burroughs as a #7.
  7. Agreed. I'm not really sold on the idea that he needs to be 185-190lbs to be effective. I think 180lb Petey is still good enough to score 100 points and play a solid 200ft game if he's in the right mindset.
  8. Ehh, I'm skeptical. Last year, everyone was goin nuts about how big he looked and he turned out to be the same size as always. We'll see if the numbers are actually different though.
  9. Feels crazy that it's not Kreider tbh, but I guess I don't know the locker room like they do.
  10. You make good points for sure, though I do think it's notable that Garland was not only producing less than the 1st unit, but less than all of his fellow 2nd unit guys. 5 on 5, however, he was amazing, so my guess is that it was probably some sort of weird statistical anomaly.
  11. He spent the entire year on PP2 and was the worst producer of all forwards on that unit on the PP. Maybe it was an anomaly, but he really struggled to produce on the 2nd PP unit. That said, if we're still comparing the two, Boeser was the worst regular PP1 forward. *Note that the stats below eliminate guys with less than 17 minutes of PP time to capture only regulars.
  12. Brock scoring goals is music to me.
  13. Love Burkie's candidness, but as as Canuck, my heart is more towards Juice than Burke. Loved the Hey Burkie animation and story though.
  14. I do miss a lot of the big strong players like Lindros, but as for a guy who could succeed more in today's game, it's probably more skilled guy. I think Naslund would have scored 50+ goals in his prime in the modern NHL. Ziggy Palffy would also be an interesting watch. He was already great in the dead puck era, but with more space, I can imagine he would be one of the best in the game in today's league. Would also be really interesting to see how older legends like Howe, Richard, Lindsay, Kelly, etc. played in todays game. Goaltenders would have the biggest adjustment, I suspect, as no position has changed more since the Original Six era than goaltending.
  15. Interesting deal. He's a very very good player, but that's also a lot of money. Could be one of the few expensive deals that are worth it if he performs. That said, Weegar is almost 100% leaving at the TDL or via free agency now, unless I'm just way off on my guess of their cap space.
  16. Is it? What are other comparable one-way forwards who can score 30 goals paid?
  17. Would have loved to see the twins smoke all the kids on the Grouse Grind despite being 42. I wonder what their times were like compared to the kids.
  18. I do like how Allvin leads his management and scouting team. A real people person who's relatable.
  19. I could reasonably see us finishing anywhere from 2nd to 6th, but I'd guess probably 4th or 5th. Maybe 3rd if things go well.
  20. A bit sad, but I was expecting him to sign somewhere else after we didn't sign him.
  21. Basically Chris Tanev of San Jose. Should be good for them.
  22. Over a month until the pre-season starts, so I'm not particularly worried. Something will probably get done. I imagine there are still enough people that care about radio calls for it to still be a worthy contract.
  23. Interesting hypothetical. If we somehow won a Cup in 2023, and then he left the team, where would he rank? I think a fair bit would go into his play during the run. If he scored 15 goals or something in a run, then he would be legend status. I personally lean towards needing a bit more in the sense of longevity as captain. As far as best captains, I tend to put less emphasis on individual leadership and more on how they inspired the team to perform while there. For instance, I'd rank Linden as a better captain than Markus Naslund, but Naslund was a better player. Luongo was better than both, but the worst captain out of the three. He was also only captain for three years, if I recall.
