Is SN Now an option in the states? Might not be an option unless you use a VPN to say your from BC.

Ah, I didn't notice the recency of these contracts. Hard to find a great comparable, but based on the list, Rust and Gaudreau seem like two of the closest. Though I would put him closer to Gaudreau than Rust.
-
When looking at comparable salaries, it's always good to look at context and determine three things: 1. How high was the salary cap when the contract was signed? 2. How old was the player when the contract was signed and how good were they back then, at the signing date? 3. How many years and what kinds of trade protection did they get? Not saying that you didn't think of these things OP, but as you say, there are a lot of factors to consider in attempting to find fair comparables.

NHL badge looks like the old orange one, unless they would intentionally do that for these jerseys.

If Boeser has his shot going, I could see Garly and Boeser being an amazing combo.
-
Pretty sure we bought him out and that is entirely independent from his court case. It is different from the E. Kane situation, I believe.

This is when you know you've met the standard of "unpopular opinion".

Cool to see a highlight package for a guy who's not a 1st line forward. 2nd line guys can have some pretty nice plays too.

[Signing] Stars sign Will Butcher

Is he bad defensively? Sounds like a steal. -
[Signing] Blue Jackets re-sign Patrik Laine
-AJ- replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Seems like an extremely team-friendly term for the Jackets. Probably part of why the price is so high. 4 years is practically perfect for a guy Laine's age. -
Lots of popular "unpopular" opinions here I think.

[Discussion]The Most Entertaining Canucks Games of All Time
-AJ- replied to BureBurrito's topic in Canucks Talk
I remember a few fun regular season games. The Canucks vs Flames last game the season in 2010 was fun. I also remember a game where Naslund had 4 goals and an 8-1 win over the Islanders where I think Bertuzzi had a hat-trick. Good games from my childhood from the WCE. -
This post is beyond misleading. The article doesn't mention Hughes once and it goes on to mention many times how much Podz likes being in Vancouver. I'm almost wondering if you meant to share another article because it has almost no correlation to your comments. Gonna do you a favour and lock this before you get roasted alive.

I was roasted for this one back when I made the statement, but I still stand by it and have added two more names to it. Bure had a very good rookie season, but Boeser, Hughes, and Pettersson all had better ones.

The unfortunate truth. Even though it won't mean much for us as Canuck fans, hopefully he eventually grows up, even if it's later in life.

Disgusting.

[Signing] Canucks sign Ilya Mikheyev
-AJ- replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Pastrnak's is a bit more, but as I said, I think the much larger point is what @HorvatToBaertschi says about considering where they were at when they signed their contracts. As hard as it is, you have to remember that we didn't know all these guys would become what they have right now. A more fair evaluation would be to look at guys with similar percentages of the cap hit (around 8.00%) and go back in time to look at their careers up to that point. Looking at Pastrnak now and claiming that he's a 7.33M (w/ cap inflation) player is ridiculous and doesn't consider what the GM at the time actually had to consider in signing him. When Pastrnak was signed, he had one season of 34 goals and 70 points in 75 games--his other two seasons he was a middle six forward. To be fair, you have to avoid using hindsight to your advantage and thinking of the 40+ goal Pastrnak. He was signed as a young kid with only one strong season under his belt. It was a gamble that paid off. -

Not only do you have to note the production/state of the player prior to the contract signing, but you have to consider cap inflation: Pastrnak's contract was 8.89% of the cap, $7.33M in 2022 Nylander's contract was 8.76% of the cap, $7.23M in 2022 Reinhart's contract was 7.98% of the cap, $6.58M in 2022 Debrincat's contract was 7.85% of the cap. $6.48M in 2022 Again, what @HorvatToBaertschi says is an even more important point--considering where they were at when signing the contract. Anachronism when looking at old contracts is one of my pet peeves. -
Ex-Canucks GM Jack Gordon, the man who traded Cam Neely, has died

Kind of feels distasteful by the writer at MSN to make him known only by one screw up. -

Had a few strong years in the mid 2010s with the Canes and Edmonton.
