  1. He's also 21. They're banking on future potential.
  2. I always get a laugh when Gary goes up to the podium.
  3. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Wright goes 10th.
  4. I suppose some people feel like Wright's ceiling isn't that high, so are shooting for the moon more than the safe pick.
  5. ahaha pass on Hughes and Zadina, now this.
  6. Coyotes execs have matching suits, haha
  7. We should have Emilie announce our pick since she's from MTL anyway.
  8. I love how the draft never goes as anyone expects, haha.
  9. Canadiens actually don't have that impressive of a list of #1 overall picks outside of Lafleur.
  10. Must feel so cool to get a message from Chara for him.
  11. This isn't really news IMO. Just old friends chatting up...probably.
  12. Giveaways are a borderline useless stat when it comes to defensemen. Third in the NHL's defensemen in takeaways, blocks tons of shots, extremely strong CORSI numbers. Pretty much the dream defenseman away from the puck and can still put up 40+ points.
  13. Not a crazy idea, especially if we can negotiate a half-reasonable extension for Weegar. He's a top 10 defenseman in the league--even better than Hughes, I'd argue.
  14. I think that @48MPHSlapShot nailed it on the head. Miller is better, but older and less team-controlled. Debrincat still very likely has 4-5 years of the chance to score 40+ each year left. Miller might continue to be a 90+ point player, but it's not super likely that he'll do that for years regularly going forward.
  15. My gut feeling is that Debrincat might actually have higher value than Miller, but hopefully I'm wrong.
  16. We'll see how it turns out, but Podkolzin was as high as 3rd at one point. Both Cam Fowler and Jakob Chychrun also fell pretty hard. Fowler was rated 3rd by the Hockey News (I think) and went 12th and Chychrun was hyped as the future #1 when he was 15 or 16. All that said, I'm not really on board for Lambert. Personality issues make me think we probably won't take him.
  17. Spent the better part of the morning and early afternoon catching up on this thread working and had some good laughs. Thanks for the entertainment, all, haha.
  18. Barely even know the prospects on the table, but I'm ready to be angry with whomever we pick.
  19. Interesting. Letang is currently worth way more than $6.1M per year, but a six year deal is very long for someone his age, so that's probably why he went for so cheap.
  20. The potential recession could hurt revenues, yes, but inflation would probably push the cap higher (of course, not real revenue, only due to inflation meaning bigger numbers). In the end, they maybe push opposite directions and result in a relatively normal increase instead of a larger one.
  21. Doan's contract was 8.83% of the cap ceiling when it was signed, which in today's cap is $7.28M.
