  1. This is important to note. I think given big league revenues this year, we can expect some pretty big jumps in the cap soon once they finish their partial cap freeze.
  2. Well if it's six years, then it has to be big money or he says no IMO. That or big trade protection, which I think Allvin and Castonguay would be hesitant about.
  3. Definitely. Benning and Co. knew a lot better than I did.
  4. IMO there's virtually a 0% chance Miller takes anything less than $7M. The only way it's remotely possible is with strong trade immunity like a full NMC for all 8 years or something.
  5. I think I would rather find a deal with Miller than trade him, especially if they can find a reasonable balance between trade protection, length, and cap hit. Hoping that our group has just been really good keeping the news indoors and that all the rumours are relatively baseless.
  6. Will probably be a steal if he develops, but then, it is a relatively short bridge deal.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the return. Pretty much where I'm at too.
  8. I was just thinking the same. Refresh every 10 minutes and you have a new page.
  9. I think both, particularly the second, would be decent returns, but I'm not sure if Allvin can wrestle that much out of them.
  10. I was actually okay with letting Markstrom go, but Tanev was a big piece. He played every single game in the 2020-21 season for Calgary and he's one of the best defensive defensemen in the league. We sorely missed him and still do. If you write off a defenseman because he doesn't score points, you have far too simplistic a view of the position.
  11. I mean our miserable 2020-21 season where we finished last in the division.
  12. Let's be real, Arizona is playing 82 games on the road this year.
  13. I would tend to agree. It would be Tanev/Markstrom all over again.
  14. I am fully expecting to be underwhelmed with the return. Either way, if Miller is gone, that heavily hurts our playoff chances next year, as there's almost no way his level of play is replaced in free agency. The only way we'd make it is if we had multiple players with career years.
  15. Sounds a lot like he's resigned to his fate. I wasn't taking the Miller trade rumours too seriously, but it's really starting to sound like a reality.
  16. Almost back to normal start and end of season dates. Interesting to start the season on the road, including a three-game eastern trip. I haven't done calculations, but a cursory glance suggests we have more home games in the second half than the first.
  17. Probably gonna get paid big. He's good, but not as good as he was a few years ago. Probably a #2 guy at best, maybe a #3. Also turning 30 in August, so while he could still have several years of good hockey left, he's at that 30-year old mark.
  18. If you're so close to the sky train, it might be worth considering living a bit further out for cheaper rent, though the commute would be a bit longer, so there are pros and cons. I don't know much about Skytrain travel though, so maybe the ones that reach out to Surrey or Coquitlam aren't good options.
  19. Doing some more detailed research on him: - He doesn't penalty kill at all, so he would not replace Miller in that respect - Very strong CORSI numbers - One of the most frequent hitters on FLA last year - Played 14:07 per game last year, which is insane considering his production on pace for over 70 points. Florida is insanely deep. - Almost never blocks shots - Generally takes a lot of penalties, but draws even more
  20. Pretty sure he's been around forever. If he can hold down a full-time NHL job (which isn't a given considering his play in the regular season with the Avs), he would hit 1200 games next year.
  21. Pretty much this. Would definitely hurt to lose Miller at C and replace him with a winger though, unless Petey can get his face-off game up to snuff.
  22. He can definitely find another job somewhere. Probably a solid third line centre or a 4th line guy at worst.
