Managed to sneak up on Gabe and Jake and take a picture of them almost cuddling.

This is my new little guy Gabe. He's freakishly hard to get pictures of. He seems to think the camera is something for him to play with no matter how far away you are.

He has to clear waivers right? I would just grab him.
Nope. He had a NMC. Doesn't have to go on waivers.
-
Yes! Please buy him out! Please Sakic just pay the man what he wants. He's exactly the player we need to help the D. Can't leave all the puck moving to Barrie.
Um... There's a reason he was bought out instead of traded - nobody would take him.
The two years he played for the Canucks were the best of his career - putting up roughly half those numbers per year since. He is still a liability defensively - he was with the Canucks too but we were able to hide that a lot more than the Sabres could.
He will be picked up by another team no doubt, as he's still an NHL calibre defence man, but not worth the 4 mil Buffalo was paying him. I think someone will probably sign him for a short term deal worth 2.5-3 mil per year.Pretty sure the reason was the insane recapture penalties the Sabres would have incurred if he retired early. They could have had 10 million in dead space one year right when they should be ready to really compete. Probably made it clear he didn't want to be there anymore as well. -
3 first rounders not enough for 1st OA?
@TSNRyanRishaug: Just spoke to Tallon, said he’s probly going to make the pick. Said he knows he’s been a little greedy, and is comfortable keeping it.
Oh....
It wasn't last year but that was a better draft.

Tampa: Kucherov + 1st
Detroit: Mantha + 1st
Colorado: Rights to O'Reilly
Anaheim: Etem + Ottawa's 1st (10th overall)
Chicago: Teravainen + 1st
Pittsburgh: Pouliot + 1st
If Colorado re-signs Stastny, ROR for Kesler makes a lot of sense for them. Likely saves 1.5 per year in cap, and not committing to another long term deal.
If Chicago doesn't win this year, they may want to shake things up for one last hurrah. Kane and Toews are both UFA at the end of next season, and are going to need BIG raises. But with that coming, they are probably more keen on shedding a big contract veteran (Sharp? Hossa?) than trading a player on a cheaper ELC.
No, it doesn't. That's a terrible deal. At this point O'Reilly is better than Kesler and doesn't come with anywhere near the injury concerns and baggage. O'Reilly is Roy's favourite player and it's already long since been reported it would take a huge overpayment to get him out of Denver. Vancouver isn't getting O'Reilly for Kesler unless a younger top 4 D is coming back as well. There's absolutely no incentive to trade him even if Stastny re-signs. Parenteau or McGinn and picks/prospects will be moved first and for D not an over the hill injury prone center.

1 pm local time for both teams.
That doesn't make it any less ridiculous. It's a Canadian team at home in the conference finals on a Saturday. Should be on at 7 ET for regular primetime HNIC. Not in the bloody afternoon/morning. Brutal. NBC already gets their way with Sunday afternoon hockey. There's no need to extend that any further.
-
Seriously, big eff you to NBC for the game being at 10 AM. That's BS.

Has Boudreau ever won a game 7?
-
He was just a few feet away and got to see Kane put it in too, right in front of his face ahaha
Served him right for throwing another questionable hit on Oduya today.
-
Hawks Avs matchup would have been fun to watch.
I'm still convinced that even if we won game 7 we would have been swept but it still would have been crazy entertaining and exciting hockey. Looking forward to seeing each other in the playoffs for years to come in the very near future though.
-
Hope we get to see the Hawks and the Habs in the finals. Big thanks to Chicago. Couldn't be more pleased to see the Wild and more importantly Cooke knocked out.
-
Wow. Kane is so clutch. Way to go Hawks.
-
Ya too bad we won't see it. It'll be the Rangers that beat the Bruins.
No they won't. There's a good reason that you never see teams that went to 7 games in each of the first two rounds win the conference finals.
-
These people don't matter.
And I would say that it is the Penguins' shutdown making the game boring.
Can't just rely on the fans of both teams to drive up the ratings. Limiting your audience/ignoring segments is never a good idea.

Who cares? As long as you win
People who aren't fans of either team and want to see exciting hockey. It's not like it's working great for them anyways since they've been shutout in consecutive games by Fleury of all people.
-
Man even without Torts the Rangers are a boring team.

I didn't watch them most of the season, but in this series there were some real WTF moments with Hejda and E. Johnson. I never liked Johnson to begin with, of course in Game 7 he manages to score a goal ....
Minnesota just had more experience on their team, and Colorado's D would have been better had Barrie been in the line up.
The one thing I hated about the TSN crew is their analysis. They seemed puzzled regarding the drop in the top line's production after Game 2. Well, Barrie was a big part of that line's production, as he provided the outlet pass. I guess those geniuses forgot about that.
Losing Barrie just killed our transition game. As much as everyone was raving about Mack, Barrie played a huge role in the tying and winning goals in game one. Cooke for Barrie is a trade the Wild will make every time and it worked wonders for them. I give them full credit for being absolutely dominant for large parts of this series and they deserved to win based on the run of play but it will always leave a foul taste in my mouth because of that hit. Maybe they still pull this off without it and maybe they don't. Somehow lost in the whole thing was Cooke's attempted elbow to the head of Mack in game 3. It certainly looked like he was out to take out an important player to help his team and it worked.
Johnson has been great all year and sure picked a terrible time to just completely fall apart. Foote and Roy have just done wonders for his game and I'm confident he'll rebound and prove he really is a top pairing guy. He needs help on that back end. I think part of the problem was having to play him way more minutes that he should be. The D had a collective 12 games of playoff experience and it showed. Need to get him a better partner than Hejda or if he continues to play out of his mind then someone to play with Barrie. Would love to get a guy like Ehrhoff. Someone who can bring that puck moving element to to the top pairing as well.
-
Hope the Hawks sweep and Cooke injures himself trying to throw a dirty hit and can never play again.
-
lol Sharks may just be worse off, they need better defense as well. Avs are set for years just like the Hawks are.
They do but this is just the ultimate fail for a team that was supposed to be a contender. They need major changes. As bad as their D is anyone would be an improvement over Guenin, Benoit, and Wilson.
-
Avs just need to improve their defense and they will be a force. Varlamov could have been better too, but improving defence will help him. Good learning experience for them, they will be back.
Yea. The upside of this loss is it has to force Sakic and Roy to go out and get some veteran top 4 D as insurance. Maybe someone from San Jose will be available given this epic collapse. Varly needed to be better today but he bailed us out all year and it's high time to get him some help.
-
Get outta here Avs with your terrible puck possession and unsustainable shooting percentage. Fancy stats crowd wins this round.
Totally different series if Matt Cooke doesn't take out Barrie. We spent large parts of this series without our top center, 3rd line center, and best offensive D. Lets see the Wild get to game 7 OT if they were missing Koivu, Brodin, and Haula.

It'll be Ducks versus Wild won't it?
Nope. No reseeding. It's brackets now
-
Man Varly really needed to be better today
