[Waivers] Nathan Bastian
buddhahoodlum replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Where do the Canucks rank in terms of waiver pickups? And is it static for the duration of the season. Like do the Canucks have one of the first cracks at these guys and if they pick someone do they lose their spot? -
I think people want to trade Miller not because he's garbage, because he obviously isn't, but that he's the one player who can fetch us a really good return (deep draft this year and all), and also that he is very unlikely to resign with us. We absolutely cannot afford to let another quality player walk for free. So yea, as much as I like Miller and his competitive nature I'd rather trade him then lose him for nothing by the end of next season.

Hear me out on this one. How about we all pool our money. 3 banners- Fire Aquilini. Fire Benning. Fire Green. Maybe they'll give us a deal if we buy in bulk and we can get 2 others that say fire Baumgartner and fire King. The kicker- instead of paying for an airplane to fly around for a few minutes we buy a weather balloon and fly it over the city 24/7!

Have you seen our players play lately? Your average waiver wire garbage would be an improvement on some of these guys. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
buddhahoodlum replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Pics or it didn't happen. Or in this case picks or it doesn't happen. -
If the Canucks aren't planning on making a coaching change and let Green run out his contract then we have to assume the playoffs will be out of reach next year too. So they need to figure out who isn't in their long term plans (ie Miller) and trade them for picks, assuming we can get a good return. If we can stockpile a few extra low first rounders in the next 2 drafts maybe we can "retool on the fly" and be competitive sooner rather then later.

Kyle Rittenhouse. Murder or self defense ?

I would say good riddance except that China will be the ones to fill the power vacuum. -
I'm completely uninterested in this team anymore. Yet I keep coming back to these boards. I think it's the hockey version of stalking your ex. The owners and management don't care. So why should I? I've been a fan off and on since '82 and have seen more mediocre years then good. I guess I'm still here because train wrecks are fascinating AF. I keep hoping they'll win. But I get some sort of bitter pleasure when they lose. It's like ripping of a scab. It's gonna hurt. there's gonna be blood. But it's oddly satisfying. Win or lose, I won't be cheering anymore until changes are made. This product is defective and unfortunately for us fans the owners won't honour the warranty.

Didn't Linden also say that a rebuild wouldn't be fair to the Sedins? That statement really pissed me off. This organization didn't owe the Sedins anything. They were well compensated for their time here.

Seeing DOA there this Saturday. I know they'll put on a good show at least.

I refuse to go to any sporting event unless the tickets are free. I can't guarantee I'll be entertained. It's not losing that bothers me but a lack of effort. If I'm driving all the way in from Langley and spending money on parking and gas and all that time I want to see an exciting product on the ice. How hard is it to play hard for 60 minutes? Other teams do it. No team plays at 100% for 100% of the time I get that but still. I can go see 5 metal bands at the Rickshaw for $30 and be absolutely blown away for 3 hours or drop $100s to see the Canucks potentially crap the bed for 2 hours. For me it's a no-brainer. I'm also not blessed with an over-abundance of money so there's that too.
