  1. I apologize if this is a dumb question, but when a team fires a coach or buys out a player can the owner claim those as losses come tax time?

      Francesco - is that you?????

yeah you can claim all business expenses against the business's income.

  2. Back in the 80s and 90s unfortunately this sort of thing was tolerated more. You know, the whole boys being boys bullsh!t, that let @ssholes off the hook for being @ssholes. But for something like this to happen this day and age, I dunno. It just feels like society keeps taking 2 steps back for every one going forward. I feel bad for girls and women everywhere. There should be a Man tax on everything guy specific. Like an extra 1% or .5% on men's clothes, grooming products, etc with that money being put into various women's initiatives. I mean some black people in America have received reparations. And in Canada we're trying to make things right with Indigenous peoples. There's still at least one marginalized group out there though.
  3. Wow you mean people actually might change their mind when presented with new information? How dare they?! the message I'm getting from you: If you wanted Green hired, you can't later ask for his firing. Got it.
  4. How often do you hear an NHL player slam a coach, either past or current? Nobody in this league wants to rock the boat.
  5. Because this is a big opportunity for the league to step up and say how utterly disgusting this case is. Why do you think Blackhawks can't or shouldn't be punished by both the courts and the NHL? The Blackhawks won a Cup in part due to sweeping this matter under the rug while a young man suffered alone. I think rescinding their 2010 Cup is a good start. Also, why do you assume Beach is getting a big payout from the courts? Justice in America is often based on who can afford the better lawyers. I also think you fail to understand the gravity of this situation and the absolute sickening failure of the ENTIRE Blackhawks organization to take care of their own. The Hawks need to be f#cking crucified over this.
  6. If all the punishment the Hawks face is a measly $2m fine, someone needs to put a b#llet in Buttman's h#@d.
  7. Been listening to Anthrax's Among the Living. They had Not man as their mascot and Scott "Not" Ian.
  8. Spoken like a true fan. Not. HF boards are that way. --->
  9. I think the Canucks passed on drafting Kyle Beach in part because he was rumored to have character issues, but after reading his statement he comes across as an intelligent and thoughtful individual. I suppose the two aren't mutually exclusive. Anyway, hope he can begin the healing process. Best of luck to him. And to everyone who covered this up or mocked him- may you rot in hell.
  10. Enjoy! I had tix to the show before it was rescheduled. Then I had to quit my job and couldn't buy new tickets. Such is life. Going to see D.O.A. next month. That was only $24. Win!
  11. This "punishment" has to be another slap to the face of the victim. I think the message to future whistleblowers is don't waste your time. You won't be believed and the perpetrators won't be adequately punished.
  12. Society has become so divisive- just check out the Covid thread for proof. I believe this is an intentional plan on behalf of the Elite. Much like how they sponsored Occupy Wall Street, how they have fake protesters at G20 meetings destroying property, or how the CIA had (and probably still does) their operatives posing as journalists. So much easier to control society if they're bickering among themselves. I think Orwell's words will prove to be prophetic- If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.
  13. I believe this is censorship, and worse, it will lead to a form of self-censorship. We won't ever say anything meaningful to each other for fear of how some people will interpret our words. Those words will then fall out of use, and when we limit words, we limit the number of experiences and ideas we can discuss.
  14. Just finished an 80 minute Zoom meeting with the doctors at the UBC Sleep Disorder Clinic. I. Am. Exhausted. I think I need a nap now.

Hope you get somewhere in dealing with your insomnia.

They recommended trying a CPAP machine again in addition to cognitive behaviour therapy and sleep restriction therapy. Figured I'd start last night- turned the electronics off at 11:15, in bed by 11:30, and no late night coffee. The result? No sleep. Go figure. FML.

  15. The problem is the "fire Dave" mob are a hell of a lot louder (read: more obnoxious) then the "free Dave" crowd. I guess that's on us the moderate group, but I'm just not a stand up and shout kind of guy. Unless I'm singing along to Dio's Stand Up and Shout.
  16. Cancel culture will never go away. These people have too much power and they love playing god. The people who want to cancel Chapelle and everyone else have a right to voice their displeasure of course. The problem is that their "voice" ruins people's lives. Look at Johnny Depp. His show was canceled while Amber Heard gets a free pass to keep working.
  17. I remember their second year fans were demanding they be traded. It was ludicrous and proves most fans of this team are idiots.
  18. So many Canucks "fans" show their true colours after a (admittedly bad) loss.
