  1. Kevin Bieksa is someone you don't want to get into a fight with- he can beat you with his fists and his words.
  2. So your "proof" their is no anti-Canuck bias is that you claim you spent 50 years in the game? Also, anyone who thinks the refs are biased is apparently an idiot? I thought personal attacks weren't allowed on these boards? *there
  3. You're basing this on what exactly? If you have any special insider knowledge on this issue then please share it. Otherwise that's just your opinion. Which of course you are entitled to. However, 3 of what you label "missed calls" actually happened in full view of the ref, meaning they did not miss them so much as chose not to call what was obviously an egregious infraction. That is at best game (mis)management and at worse more proof of incompetency and/or bias.
  4. Honestly, same. I like other teams but if I didn't love the Canucks I'd drop the NHL like a hot potato. I absolutely loathe in game management. As in, to the point where it's not good for my blood pressure,
  5. This exactly. Do we call it incompetency or bias when the ref who is standing right there refuses to call a penalty on a crosscheck that sends Sutter into the boards but penalizes Beagle for doing the refs job and punishing dirty plays? Is it really whining to expect a level playing field? Anyway, the boys played great, showed a lot of resilience. They're going to have to be ready next game because the St. Louis Refs, err, Blues, are going to use every dirty tactic that they know.
  6. So because it's "always been that way" we should all just accept sub-par reffing. Even is there is no anti-Canuck bias from the refs, their non-calls/weak calls impacted the game and weighted it in favour of the Blues. There is only ONE NHL rulebook, and those rules should be applied as consistently as possible to both teams. Yes, it's a fast game and refs miss high sticks and trips all the time, for both teams. But blatant high sticks in front of the ref that leads to a goal should never be acceptable. Also, for people who don't think certain refs hate the Canucks, or at least certain players on our team, I'd ask them to explain the curious case of Stephane Auger.
  7. Until Gary Bettman goes on television and says that yes, there are 2 separate rulebooks, one for playoffs and 1 for regular season and we have instructed refs to "put away the whistles" for BOTH teams, I fully expect the game to be called the same from Game 1 of the regular season to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in overtime. Anything less is game management, and game management, while perhaps does "ebb and flow" to quote 1 poster, is usually biased in favour of 1 team over another. I think that's all any fan wants is a level playing field. And that did not happen last night.
  8. I'd add: 5) how many penalties has the team already taken? If Team Sh!theads have already taken 6 well-deserved penalties the zebras will make a weak call against Team Good Guys to even it up and will even start to allow the Sh!theads to start taking liberties.
  9. Sooo many people in this thread saying to quit bitching about the refs. And yet, it is only when we as a society/group speak out against injustices of all kinds are we able to rectify and overcome them.
  10. Tell that to Sutter and Myers, one who could have been injured on a dangerous play and another who was hurt.
  11. Here's the thing too, ALL the pressure is on the Blues. They are Cup champions after all. Canucks are playing with house money at this point.
  12. You don't need a psychic to tell you this is going to be a tough series. Canucks may have fared well against the Blues in the regular season but a best of 7 series is a different animal altogether. That said I'm confident in our boys. I'll say they win 5-4 in OT tomorrow and take the series in 6.
  13. In fact, and forgive me if somebody else already pointed this out, but there are NO fans in the stands, toxic or otherwise.
  14. Your post made me think that a rink shaped like a "Y" where 3 teams face off against each other at the same time. Anyone can score on any other team's goalie. That would be a beautiful thing to watch.
  15. My point was referring to someone who had to mention what a great coach Torts was for us. I feel very differently. He is currently doing great in Columbus and was good in Tampa and New York. His time here was not great, or even really good, for the reasons I mentioned. My personal belief is that he was coaching to get fired so he could sit back and collect a paycheck. That's probably not the case as these guys have a lot of pride, but his actions were baffling at best. Not fully invested in the team maybe the most respectful way of putting it, imo.
  16. I'm sorry but did I mention Travis at all in my post? No, I was replying to a poster who said he thought that Tortorella was a good coach. Nowhere in my post did I mention Travis Green or his coaching abilities. How dare I insult a Stanley Cup winning coach? WTF does his Stanley Cup have to do with him being an absolute dumpster fire of a coach in Vancouver? Nowhere in my post DID I EVEN MENTION TRAVIS GREEN'S NAME!!!!!!! Is that really hard to understand? I'll repeat it again: NOWHERE IN MY POST DID I EVEN MENTION GREEN'S NAME. I WAS TALKING SOLELY ABOUT TORTORELLA.
  17. Yes, you mean the guy who benched Luongo for the Heritage Classic? You mean the guy who didn't even live in the country where he was coaching? You mean the guy who reamed out David Booth for being late when Booth was actually 5 minutes early? You mean the guy who wanted the Sedins to block shots? You mean the guy who a bunch of players complained about not practicing enough? You mean the guy who wouldn't communicate with his players OR the farm team? You mean the guy who ruined Edler's confidence with his screaming? You mean the guy who stormed Calgary's dressing room? Yea great coach we had in Torts. Give your head a shake. He was brutal.
  18. Here's my "dumb take". Burke was on the draft day show to hype up everyone's prospects, which he had been doing until it got to Hughes. Instead of hyping our newest prospect he belittled his size. So screw that guy.
  19. I wonder if Benning can or would use Covid as a reason to ask the NHL to rescind the Luongo recapture penalty?
  20. Taken down? What are these people scared of? Telling that they think free speech only applies to the greenies.
  21. Yes. And no. There's many ways to skin a cat badly. But there's only one way to do it that will keep the precious fur intact.
