  1. I've seen Edler out in the shootout so why not Hughes? #FreeQuinnHughes
  2. I didn't mind the trade at the time even though I knew almost nothing about Horvat. Mostly based on the fact Schneider was 26 and Horvat 18.
  3. I'm sure we're all sold on him being a bona fide NHLer by now. He's been great. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't he been mostly deployed as a winger as of late? Despite what some people on here want to believe, Gaudette is not an upgrade on Sutter. Not at the centre position.
  4. I don't want it to seem like I'm disrespecting our veterans, BUT... if our soldiers protect our rights and freedoms then where were they when: 1) our government sent Japanese-Canadians to internment camps and dispossessed them of their homes? 2) or when aboriginal children where forcibly removed from their homes and placed in murder camps, I mean residential schools? 3) and where were the soldiers when the police would beat, pepper spray, illegally infiltrate and confiscate cell phones and laptops from concerned citizens, dubbed "protesters" by the State and media during the various APEC, G8, WTO, G20 (at the G20 summit in Toronto a York Region PO was caught on camera saying "this ain't Canada right now", implying a police coup and creation of a temporary police state) and other summits held in Canada? 4) or Prime Minister Borden enacted the Wartime Elections Act in 1917, which stripped many people of the right to vote who would have opposed conscription. This all in a bid (which worked!) to force Canadian men to go overseas and die for the benefit of some rich old European duke? Whose interests do our soldiers really serve? Outside of WW2 and the War of 1812 (and other battles waged against the USA which I would say is the only country that has actually posed a threat to Canada) I can't think of a single enemy that has threatened "our rights and freedoms", as is so often parroted. Maybe you mean Canadian business rights and freedoms? I'm not dumping on our soldiers. They do what they think is the right thing. But sometimes the biggest enemy is on the home front.
  5. Even when they show us love TSN can't help but slight us. I'm not triggered. Just thought it was funny/sad lol.
  6. Flagging this. Might offend fans of other teams who don't have any cockles. Edit: Warm or otherwise.
  7. Part of the reason LA and Detroit are doing poorly in the standings is because we whooped each of their butts twice already. Also, Canucks were near the bottom of the standings LAST year and weren't projected to do much this year either, at least by anyone not connected to the team.
  8. I'm not even worrying about playoffs. I'm just enjoying the ride.
  9. 3-1 Nucks win. Demko with the shutout but the refs decide he shouldn't be allowed to make all those saves so they award a goal to SJ.
  10. The top the of the GDT post says Your Beloved Vancouver Canucks (subject to change). I'm sorry but I cannot envision any scenario where they are no longer my Beloved Vancouver Canucks.
  11. Like many posters I was flabbergasted that Schaller was still on the main roster when the season started. I am more than happy to eat crow. This year's Tim Schaller, so far, is looking like a steal at 1.9m.
  12. I would say this was less a case of the Canucks trying to hold the lead and more of a case of the Rangers coming out flying in the third. They had terrific pushback. Luckily Marky was equal to the challenge.
  13. Why can't white people wear black or brown face (yes I know, it's racist AF) but you can do a whole movie about black people putting on white face? I'm referring to White Girls of course. It's not that much different to when Chris Rock (I think, too lazy to google) who said he liked his new movie because he got to kill all the white people. IDK I guess I just live in a pretend world where racism is racism no matter.
  14. I've been a metalhead since grade 6 or 7 when I first heard Ozzy's Bark At The Moon followed by Judas Priest's awesome Defenders of the Faith. My first concert was either Alice Cooper's Raise Your Fist And Yell or AC/DC's Fly On the Wall. I've been hooked ever since. When I first heard thrash metal grade 9 or 10 I was amazed music could be so fast and brutal with (mostly) very socially aware lyrics. When I first heard black metal it was Dimmu Borgir's Progenies of the Great Apocalypse. I absolutely loved the epic music but couldn't stand the shrieked vocals. My buddy told me to keep listening and after a few goes it really grew on me and now I'll listen to pretty much any and all styles of BM (excluding suicidal and Nazi BM) as long as they have those vox. I just LOVE the singing style. It speaks to my soul the way clean vocals never will. And right now black metal is about the only thing in my life that can make me smile.
  15. People really do metal, especially BM, for the love of music and artistic expression. People get into rap and pop to become rich. They even say as much in their lyrics.
  16. Saw D.R.I. on the Thrashhard tour at the New York Theatre in Vancouver back in the day. I was a skinny 18 yo and there was a brutal moshpit with skinheads kicking people when they fell. Needless to say I watched the show from the back lol.
  17. To be fair that can be said for many, many scientists, historians, and archaeologists. That they twist facts to fit a narrative or agenda.
  18. Philip Coppens, a regular on Ancient Aliens until his death, wrote some interesting books on the subject. Robert M Schoch and Robert Bauvall have proposed some interesting theories, such as the pyramids being 1000s of years older than is currently accepted. I enjoy these types of discussions but too often they devolve into name-calling, usually by those who can't tolerate threats to their world view.
  19. We the People need to make the Elite accountable. Drag the CEOs, royalty, media moguls, heads of the secret police, etc into the street and shoot them like the vermin they are. WE do the work of the world. WE should be the ones to reap the rewards. I've worked for far too many rich bosses in my life and without fail they were all lazy greedy f#ks.
