This was a hard move to make as we are very high on Pelletier, but it seemed like it would be too difficult for him to break in on the wing this season with Tkachuk, Farabee, and Knies higher on the depth chart. We felt 4th line minutes would harm his development and decided the best thing for the player and organization would be to move a position of strength (LW) for a position of weakness (D). I would guess that an expansion franchise is a much more attractive proposition than a neglected franchise. I was offered the Ducks at one point and wasn't at all interested in taking on that roster, it was bare of assets and loaded with bad contracts.
