  1. That's totally unfair. Dhaliwal is the most connected guy I've seen in Vancouver and reports what agents, management and players tell him. He does his job fairly, obviously not everything comes to fruition.
  2. Dhaliwal is as credible as it gets. Sad that he wants out, he really has more to give. We likely won't get good value for him, especially after the down year.
  3. If we want to be a serious contender, we need to insulate these positions via young guys with upside or players who are good at these roles, not aging players who can just "get the job done". Cut your emotional ties and move on, like we did with Ohlund. Eagle will still be a legend in Vancouver regardless.
  4. For sure, but also important to temper expectations. If I recall correctly, he also got some PP1 mins alongside Quinn, which I never expected to happen at all the next decade barring injury. Kid's gonna be a beauty.
  5. Not sure how I feel about Ceci and don't know much about Hakanpaa, but any of those other guys are solid options for us for sure if we could afford it.
  6. I'd be surprised if the move Schmidt to the left side when he's more comfortable playing the right.
  7. Schmidt isn't getting enough respect in this thread for how good he actually is. He's had a CF% above 50% his whole career until last season. Get him a new D partner, clearly not working out with Edler. He was the top D-man for Vegas for a reason, he's really good, let's give him a better chance to succeed and be an impact player.
  8. Hyman's likely gonna get paid in free agency. I'd be surprised if he gets under 5 mill. He's not the type of player I'd want to risk a long term contract at that dollar value with.
  9. Oh definitely, Fox is already an elite #1 d-man. I'd be happy with Rathbone being a solid second pairing guy. Anything more is gravy. Fox had no issues transitioning from College Hockey to the NHL so I'm hoping the same for Rathbone to improve our backend strength next season. Didn't look out of place the games he played imo.
  10. Yeah I'm not sure how to tell how ready a defensive dman is for the jump, but I'm guessing the best way to see is to get them some games via call ups to see how they fair versus NHL competition. Seeing how Fox did, I wouldn't be surprised if Rathbone transitions well coming from the same program and becomes a solid impact player right away.
  11. Not all contractual aspects are depicted on Capfriendly, however, it does give a good general idea. If Drancer and Greener are both saying there was contractual reasons, there had to be an underlying reason. The Benning comment is odd however, a coach doesn't tend to talk about contractual issues, which leads me to believe Greener rather than Jimbo. Seemed more like Jim saving face rather than anything else. Playing Benn to get an asset at the deadline was also a major reason I would think. Regardless, Olli has more to give, and I hope he can prove himself this year. also..
  12. How many times do I have to post this so you don't spread misinformation?
  13. Might be a hot take but I'd be surprised if Montreal even makes the playoffs next year. They're riding a hot goalie and on an adrenaline rush of things going their way. They had one more win than us and look how poor our season was. They would've finished 10th in the east this season overall. As Jimbo said, get into the playoffs and anything can happen, however, no GM in the league should be banking on that. Build your team properly.
  14. Wow, that interview was impressive. Very candid and not wearing rose coloured glasses. There's gonna be some serious work going into our systems and players this year. So I wonder if King or Gustafson is our PP coach?
  15. We won't know until they get an opportunity. You never know who can excel where until they try. Overall, the coaching staff got stronger today with the addition of Shaw and Gustafson.
  16. I'd assume King or Gustafson. Would surprise me if they moved Baumer from defence to offence.
  17. I'm assuming this means King and Shaw on the bench with Green (or possibley Gustafson instead of King) moving forward and Baumer taking over that third assitant role that Manny and King had before. But of course, just me assuming. Good moves regardless, retaining Clarke is HUGE.
  18. That package likely won't get you a signed Jones, let alone a late first and Jenner on top. Schmidt and #9 for a signed Jones would likely be closer but not enough imo.
  19. I agree with this, the one thing the Hughes draft taught me is anything can happen when teams reach. I was all on board the hypothetical Hanifin for 7OA trade because I did not think there was a chance Hughes would be there.
  20. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Jones, but I also believe Schmidt underperformed last season due to circumstances. He was the top minute man for one of the best teams before coming here. Let's give him another shot, maybe a different package could be had for Jones?
  21. He looked pretty fatigued to me near the end which likely resulted in the poor reads and getting caught flat footed more often. I'm assuming covid affected a lot of his play. He looked way better mid-season.
  22. OJ was playing very well before he was scratched for a veteran in Benn. Green already mentioned that he likes him and they couldn't play him due to cap reasons.
  23. Solid post, like you said, we shouldn't be rooting for one against the other. Can't hit on every pick but if OJ can fill a key role, that would be huge. I see Rathbone's ceiling like Vancouver version Ehrhoff and OJ as an Edler type. Two completely different types of dmen but both crucial to building a cup team. Here's hoping both can reach their potentials!
