  1. HFBoards is crazy, there is a tank thread and just posts in general have the vibe of wanting this team to fail. It seems they would rather lose the opportunity to win a Stanley Cup if it meant that it would have JB fired, ridiculous. Many of them have lost touch with reality. I never agreed with JB's strategy fully, but I understood what he was doing. He may not be the strongest GM out there, but he has a great hockey mind and knows how he wants his team to look. His drafting ability along with putting together a strong staff is great too. It's great that he's learning on the job and hopefully it means sustained success for us moving forward.
  2. Disagree. Assuming that the structure follows general business roles and responsibilities, an AGM in this circumstance is not shadowing the GM to take over as a succession plan while they are on the job therefore they are not learning GM duties first hand (other circumstance being the AGM needing to shadow the current GM due to them leaving/retiring, therefore needing to understand the job of a GM thoroughly). They have their own set of duties. Yes they are aware of the GM's duties but personally I would assume that until one is in that position with the pressure and responsibilities to make those decisions, it cannot count as experience. I agree that they get an idea of the job however, but actually doing the job is its own beast.
  3. Surprised at the lack of Myers suggestions. He has a good offensive mind and can rip a puck. Would give him a shot on PP1 over Edler if Hughes is gone any longer.
  4. Today I learned touching the back of a jersey and covering the puck are penalties
  5. "all or some" was the quote I wonder if the Oilers would've ruined Serg and Poolparty would be thriving in Columbus right now haha
  6. No. Juolevi was ranked ahead of all or some of those three in most draft projections. http://www.mynhldraft.com/2016-draft/nhl-draft-rankings/ There's a reason he was ranked high, just let the kid develop, he's only 21. And to respond to one of your earlier posts, our drafting is exceptional. We haven't thrown away picks. Not every pick turns into a superstar (it also happens with every other team, you can go check). Getting at least 2 NHL players from a draft is great and we've been over pace for that since Benning and co have taken the helm.
  7. Just saw this on twitter, haven't checked the authenticity of this but if anyone wants to vote. Maybe someone wants to create a new thread with this
  8. It's not always about the stats, eye test shows he's hesitating on good chances. He'll come around of course, it's Petey.
  9. I just don't get why they can't keep Holiday. Majority dig it, to me it just feels right.
  10. Disagree, through the first 4 games he's been good on the wall but other than that many grade A chances have died on Leivo's stick and he wasn't great as the bumper on the PP. Hoping he takes the next step but at the moment I would rather slot Baertschi, Ferland or Virtanen in the 2 RW spot.
  11. Petey needs to stop hesitating and just shoot the puck, it's getting frustrating.
  12. Good thing we sent down Baertschi because we had too much offense in the lineup.
  13. That bottom 6 is pathetic, no way Baertschi and Gaudette shouldn't be in there.
  14. Regardless, a team in our position should not be downgrading the team by dumping their 7th best forward to clear cap. I'm not a management hater but this is poor management of the cap.
  15. There is no logical way that Loui Eriksson should still be on the canucks roster. None. Naddah. Zero. Management is not living up to their word. I'm rattled.
  16. Yeah I can't see a team like Edmonton passing on him.
  17. Kane reacted the way any person would if someone pushed them to the ground. The slash was careless but in the heat of the moment, the ref should've backed off.
  18. Steep and decent? This is a GREAT price in correlation with the term. Avs did well.
  19. Juolevi is no where near that low on the depth chart, he's behind Stecher, but he won't be our 7th D because he needs playing time, not to be sitting in the press box.
  20. Regardless of what Benning says, if Juolevi comes into camp and knocks everyones socks off, he'll be on the team.
  21. Bag of pucks? Lol. It's like people forget that Sutter is actually a very good shut down centre that can put up 30-35 points while playing other teams top lines. Risk vs negative value is what gets mistaken a lot it seems. Sutter does not have negative value, however the risk of his injuries have lowered that value for sure. As well as him being over paid by about 500k (His caphit is 4.375m not 4.5m, I'd say he's worth around 3.750m). Also, just to further this point, many teams were looking to acquire him before the start of last season. Since the team is looking to compete, it's a smart thing to not trade him yet until Gaudette proves he's ready. https://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/report-canucks-have-received-multiple-trade-calls-on-brandon-sutter-1.23327090
  22. No look passes on the tape too!
  23. I guess it's the positive posters getting triggered when some posters call him a bust or bring up Tkachuk etc and critical posters get triggered when some posters call him a sure shot top 3 guy (or anything similar). I post positively and that's because I don't think he needs a lot more development (but of course I could be wrong). I think he has taken steps each year to become better and more NHL ready (although not as much as we'd hope from a 5th pick I admit as it would be nice if he was already in the NHL making an impact). His flaws you have posted are a fair argument but I'm hoping that his injuries are what was holding him back (for example, how Karlsson's injuries made him look like an AHL defender in the playoffs). Nonetheless, no one knows how he'll turn out but let's all hope for the best! I'm hoping he is on the Canucks roster by Christmas.
