Okay, let’s go with the facts:

1: Miller has outscored Pettersson since he got here:

        Miller GP: 109 Pts 95

        Pettersson GP: 94 Pts 87

2: Pettersson hurt once more and currently out.

3: Pettersson is so weak on face offs that Miller takes most of them when he is on the same line as Pettersson.

4: Miller has the size and strength to match up against the leagues bigger, stronger centres.

So which fact did I get wrong?

As for your “Trumpien(sic) Bovin(sic) scatatology(sic)” you shouldn’t use words you can’t spell, much less understand. I think you meant ‘Trumpian bovine scatology” which would mean ‘Trump’s study of cow scat’ which doesn’t mean what you think it does, I think you meant Trumpian bullscat, not that Trump was making a study of cow manure, surely a task beyond Trump’s conceptual reach, but you were attempting to compare what I said with something that Trump made up.

Why bringing up Trump should bring extra weight to your comment, I have no idea - I have no love of Trump, but I despise people who lie for a living even more (which includes most people in the main stream media).

You claim it's a fact that EP is "pretty fragile"  that is what I underlined in your original post ...so no need to ask what I bolded here...

As for grammer/spelling police...I think the same of them as I think of Trump...obnoxious bits of hater's...

EP has been targeted his whole time in the NHL because we have no tough guy...so he has to reverse hit guys  and such....

Just because he got slashed and it is taking some time to heal doesn't mean he is pretty fragile.

Your take is BS of the Trumpien kind or Trumpian kind ....take your pick and keep walking....

“Pettersson has been great, no doubt, but the next step in his development is to be the #1C.”

Maybe before we anoint Pettersson 1C, maybe... we ought to pay attention to the fact that Miller has been the more complete centre, and that he has outscored Pettersson since he has been here. Then there is the fact the Pettersson has turned out to be pretty fragile.

Your facts are Trumpien Bovin Scatatology....

  3. We got more for Benn than AG...which makes no sense....we even got more for trading our 4th for a 5th rounder...Bowie at 25 years old may be just a late bloomer like many D. men are...seemingly worth way more than a minor upgrade at the draft.

AG is likely to enjoy scoring some highlight reel goals against us ...and every one is going to be a reminder or how mistaken Benning was ...!

Benn is the guy there won't be a fit for next year...and he is still here.

Gaudette is just getting over a debilitating stomach issue that kept him from gaining weight or even just playing at full throttle...

Next year I expect a big jump for him...and Benning will have egg on his face again...!

Edit...YAH  ....Benn did get traded after alll.....!

    Yeah...

    Prognosticating lines next year:

Either they go Lotto line and

    Pearson+Horvat+Hoglander as your matchup line..

Or they flatten it out with something like:

    Hoglander-Pettersson-Boeser

    Podkolzin-Miller-Virtanen

    Pearson-Horvat-Motte

I just don’t see the fit for him.  Largely because as much as I like Petey-Miller-Bo I don’t think any are elite enough defensively to offset Gaudette’s two-way downside.  I’d rather roll the dice with Podkolzin or even Jake at this point if they don’t buy him out.

Being financially committed to Virtanen kind of fills the enigmatic winger slot anyways.  Having both of them struggling along with Roussel has killed us this year.

Benn is the guy there won't be a fit for next year...and he is still here.

Gaudette is just getting over a debilitating stomach issue that kept him from gaining weight or even just playing at full throttle...

Won't lie, I'm pretty pissed off about losing Gaud, but fleeced "again"? Are you talking about Forsling?

I meant the total amount of deals we have been fleeced on...and the elbow to D. Sedins head and the Big Buff Butt in Louie's crease not getting called, etc., etc.

  7. Adam Gaudette is likely worth twice as much as Mathew Highmore....we should have gotten at least a 4th round as well...really a 3rd...

Or better yet...sign for a year and watch him grow!

Trading down to the bottom again ...JB is just not with it enough to keep this from happening over and over again....

    !!!!!

And OJ just needs to keep on staying healthy.  I'm so happy that he's gone two years now without any major injuries, after spending four years in and out of surgeries.

I'm going to side with the professionals here when it comes to his development, and if they are holding him out for fitness reasons then so be it.  He still gets to practice with all the NHL guys day in and day out.

I think the plan might have been to showcase Benn and trade him tomorrow...it might still work out that way...but all this Covidiosy is going to make it difficult.

When OJ was in he played better than any D. we have whose initials aren't QH...he was mistake free ( made one error in all that I noted ) ...he still can't pivot to well but another year of working on it should get him to league average at that skill as well.

We are going to have a really strong D. by the end of next season and moving forward...!

I think folks are really going to be surprised at how superior a player/prospect Jack is as compared to Olli. Rathbone’s effortless pivoting on his skates is going to serve him so well on offense, and perhaps even more importantly, defensively.

Jack's going to be great...but so is OJ...they have different skills in some areas but they both will be getting it done better than half our D. right now...

Even Edler who has had a better than average season is only better at body checking and the PK....these 2 are much better at the PP and outlet passes and even OJ is a better skater up and down the ice....

OJ needs playing time and another year of working on getting his hips loosened  up after those surgeries...his pivots are the only thing holding him back.

Well how do you not play them? Juolevi will be 23 in just under one month, played well in his limited action. He needs to play and can't have another year where they just healthy scratch him. Nothing pissed me off more than them benching him this year & if they bench him again when we come back (from COVID) for Benn I will lose it.  Rathbone on the other hand is ripping it up in the AHL and deserves to get games, he will be 22 in a month as well. These guys are at the point in their careers either they are good enough (and they are) or they aren't. I know some count Tryamkin as a rookie but he's a pro, 27 years old, with NHL experience. He will be a huge addition to our team.

Will there be growing pains? For sure, but I believe our backend will be so much better and play a lot less in our own end. Edler is old and washed up, I'd rather go with Tryamkin. I'd take Juolevi over Hamonic and Rathbone over Benn. Call me crazy! The upside however is so much higher

I don't have time to expand on this but I totally agree...these guys are more than ready

It would be nice, for once, if we were the team that traded a respected vet with an expiring contract, at the deadline, and then he re-signed with us after the playoffs.

I’m not sure Edler is the right candidate, but hopefully they’re at least having discussions.

It can be done respectfully, and there are benefits for both sides. Obviously, the club gets an asset. But also the player gets a kick at the can to chase a Cup, and while he still has a chance to be a contributor, before age gets the best of him.

    Exactly...

With it looking like a real mess for the Canucks to try to complete the season and no real chance of making the playoffs even if the do get the games in....

I would be packing my bags already if I were Eddie....

Edler has made it pretty clear he isn't interested in playing anywhere else

If he goes to a real contender...I think he does it and then just sign's with us in the summer...it is only a matter of playing 16 to maybe 30 games with another team and then he is right back here...

Or he likes were he is and we have Juolevi, Rathbone and Tryamkyn to take his place...

you have not been paying attention to NMCs that have been stated will not be waived

I think Edler will waive if it is to the right team and Benn will for sure...Hamonic may not waive...but given the fact he may have to play 19 games in 25 days or so just to complete this wacky season if he stays here....

    he just might....

    Thumbs up.

But the poster does have a point too. 6 guys making the NHL all at once is highly unlikely -- don't even know if such feat has been accomplished ever before.

OJ will be on the team next season for sure, because well, he is already on the team.

Rathbone has a good shot if not for the logjam on LD. But he will likely be a first call up.

Podkolzin has > 50% chances. A former first round pick will be given an every opportunity to succeed and he is a winger. I'd say he is probably already better than Roussel.

Lind is 50/50. I'd like him to make the team but it might be premature to put him on as 3C to begin his NHL career. I think we will need to bring back Sutter on a short term deal or find a veteran replacement for 3C spot. I think the season after, when Beagle and Roussel's contracts come off, Lind can be eased in as a 4C assuming that does continue to get groomed as a center.

Gadj and Woo are probably going to require additional developments before they are NHL ready.

But yeah, it's exciting times ahead.

I was reacting to the comments on Rathbone only....it is the Rathbone thread after all...

I do not expect more than Podz, OJ and JR to make the team out of the gate next year...

I know OJ and JR play the same side ....but JR can play on the right if need be and I also think we will be trading Benn and maybe even Edler at the TDL...there is also Tryamkin to factor in if he comes over...maybe they trade Hamonic as well or instead of Edler...

Rathbone should be ready to force his way on to the team next year in any case.

He's also only played 4 AHL games and people are already annointing him as the 2nd coming of Scott Niedermeyer. Seriously, we need to ease up on the whole Rathbone hype. Lot of CDCers are expecting Podz, OJ, Woo, Lind, Gadjovich, Rathbone making the team next season LOL. 6 rookies, geezus. 2 making it is already massive feat on its own, let alone 6

That's just what some said about QH and EP and BH before that...

You guys keep up the naysaying and the rest of us will keep telling it like it is....!

Yes, it's far sexier to play rookies in the NHL, but, as you implied; "Green is afraid of making a mistake so he plays a guy like Benn".

I wouldn't say that OJ and Rathbone are better dmen at this point.   Rathbone has played a total of 4 games in the AHL so far and has done well, but that's a very small sample size.  I doubt we'll see him in Vancouver until next season.  OJ may be better, but I believe Benn was playing because he can play both sides and has a lot more experience in important games.

Besides, Benn has been playing really well and deserves the recognition.

...They are playing him to trade him...or ...they aren't playing OJ to pay him less on his next contract...

OJ is our 2nd best D. right now...and our best break-out passer...and...he should be playing over Benn if they weren't trading Benn in 13 days...

  19. I have been whinning about the biased reffing for years...

Finally one gets caught saying how he is basically fixing the game....but he was going to retire anyway....

Vesey has played with Miller at world Jr' and with the Ranger...Vesey 6'3, 200 lbs will be a 18 --20 Goal scorer playing in top 6..

Vesey will run with this great opportunity ...

I hope your right on Vesey...I think I would rather have Pearson myself....Vesey looks like Lievo "light" to me, lots of talent but no sense of how to play a complete game....
