  1. To add more hyperbole to this, come the end of May we make to the Finals but are banged up again. Horvat, Fox and Gaunce join us and become line 2B, outscoring Kesler's line and bringing us home the cup!
  2. I think he just has to realize he can do those things. He only tried that once at the World Juniors and it almost worked. He might have to develop a bit of attitude, confidence at least to do that regularly.
  3. Didn't take long to vote him up to first place!
  4. If Marchand makes it I may have to give up my citizenship...at least hope he gets nailed in the corner, by Chara preferably! Or Douglas if he is playing for Sweden, probably not though.
  5. He played well with Sam but McDavid missed at least half a dozen quality set ups by Bo.
  6. He is going to quit passing it to McDavid, so many chances squandered.
  7. He did seem to have some chemistry with Laughton, Anderson for speed and grit, sounds good to me. I hope Bo is alright and they keep him with Laughton who seems a bit more dynamic than Sammy.
  8. I realize that is his game, much like it is Gaunce's game but unlike Gaunce he seems to make up his mind a bit quicker and then use a quick 3 or 4 strides to get to where he needs to be. I did not see those quick first steps last game or for most of the one before, that and the fact he rode the bench for much of the second period leads me to believe he is protecting a groin tweak.
  9. Ha, I had the game recorded and just finished watching. I came on hear to post my thought's and it appears you guys are on to it too. I think he is fighting a groin tweak suffered last game. Sutter barely played him through the second period, he was the first one off the ice every line change. The big thing I noticed was he never once tried to push his first three steps, his top speed was fine but it took him awhile to get up to it. His skating looked labored like he was guarding an iffy groin. I hope he managed to keep from making it worse, the US is waiting and we need him, he is still the best all round forward on the ice even missing the steps!
  10. Thanks for righting the ship... Can't wait for that line to dominate, leaving no doubt which is the first line.
  11. Just an oversight, Gaunce has been great the last few weeks in particular.
  12. That list looks right to me and in the right order as well in my opinion. I am starting to think Grenier may have more upside then Jensen though.
  13. Horvat is as good of a lock to make it as any of the top 10 picks from last year including those playing in NHL already (he may not be as good as Mckinnon but Bo is still as much as of a lock to make it). There was just no room for him to get a toe hold on the Canucks as well as Gillis knowing he was going to play in the world juniors as well as the Memorial cup. Both events will help develop him further. All in all as good a lock to make as it gets. Gaunce on the other hand has ways to go...thinks to much before skating,he needs to move his feet as he figures out what to do, Shinkaruk has to deal with his size issue and may need another year of minors/junior.
  14. That's right, it has to be an emergency situation due to no players available from Utica to call up (Utica needs a minimum of 18 skaters left there) so it would take a massive amount of injuries on the Canucks and Utica.
  15. Actually we started the season with around $2 million of cap space and with the injuries we have had there should be another $1 million or more available. If Gillis waits until the deadline date $3 million will be enough for a $6 million player (for the remainder of the season).
  16. So Horvat is back up to almost 2 points a game; 12 pooints in 7 games!
  17. Grenier breaking out! 2 pts and he is a plus 3 in two games played. The Comets have only scored 3 goals so he has been on the ice for all of them and none of the goals against!
  18. I'll bet a bit of each. Jensen played great as a 18-19 year old in Sweden, he had the most goals of any rookie that year, then he came back over here and looked kinda slow to read plays, slow first step, no grit in the corners and just generally lost. Rodin is older and has played in the AHL, although not to succesfully but still he may find it easier then Jensen to translate the Swedish success to the NHL. I think because he is another small player the road to the NHL may be through another team, Gillis has his quota of small project players specially now with Shinkaruk looking like he has a real shot to make the club next year. If Rodin keeps this up he might be decent trade bait though.
  19. Gaunce got injured early last year and was slow to get it going, at least points wise, once he got back in the lineup.
  20. That is about what he will have to do, at least get over a point a game, then he should earn a 9 game tryout. Horvat will still have to keep up that pace to make the team but if he does I think Tort's keeps him.
  21. We will know by this time next week if he has a shot and in 2 weeks if he gets a main camp invite we will know if he has a decent shot.
  22. He is more of a no-risk medium to high-reward player. I have no problem seeing him as a first line centre or a Kesler style second line centre (Bo has better hands than Kesler did and at least as good as Kesler does now). Both those outcomes are high reward, worst case he becomes an average 2nd or good 3rd line centre or medium reward type player. Any of those three outcomes are equally possible in my mind. So way safer choice than a Russian. Yes Gillis would be gone if we chose Val and he was a bust.
  23. They have to stay with there Junior teams until after there teams get eliminated from the playoffs in March or April.
  24. Gaunce and Horvat are not eligible to play in the AHL they either make the Canucks or they have to go back to Junior.
  25. Those 16 goals in 21 games during the playoffs make you wonder if a light bulb went off with him, not that he was bad during the regular season. Total of 49 goals in 90 games. Shinkaruk got 52 goals in 72 games all told. Come on boys put on a show at the Young Stars tourney and keep things going!
