  1. Holy jumping ape shi.... Horvat is up to 215 Lbs. and he looks ripped as can be!! The Bull/Ox in the corners is going to flatten his competition and skate away with a spot. Just try taking the puck away from him Hansen or Richardson see what happens...
  2. Tryamkin looked like a young, faster Chara to me. That size, reach and skating ability alone is worth the pick.
  3. If Virtanen is taking part in drills on Sept.4th , it is likely he will be good to go by Oct. early. Probably still miss Canucks training camp though.
  4. I suppose but he did look quite fast on the big ice at the world juniors. I have a feeling Gill would have looked slow, even going up against juniors, on the big ice.
  5. 14 minutes of ice time for a 20 year old D. playing in the NHL would equate to a star in the making.
  6. 4 blocked shots and 2 hits, 4th in ice time, in the KHL as a 20 year old. This kid is going to be dynamite!
  7. Tootin lootly, I concur except I am hoping for 3 second lines instead of 3 third lines. One injury is all we need to keep Horvat up without losing someone.
  8. Well if he didn't make it I wouldn't expect him to play on the third line either...who died and made you Overlord anyway?
  9. Apparently he was told to "lean out", looks like mission accomplished! He is such a wide body he is probably still around 200 lbs.
  10. Sedins/Vrbata Burrows/Bonino/Vey Jensen/Horvat/Kassian HIggins/Mathias/Dorset or Hansen Sestito Sub Burrows and Jensen if Burrows can't find his form. The "Kid line", the 3rd line could be deadly and hard to handle, if Jensen and Kassian can learn D. Of course Vey and Kassian are interchangeable as well. The fourth line has some skill and should score some goals. The only problem is if we ever get healthy Hansen may have to go. We need Sestito for McGrattin, etc.
  11. Bo had 74 points in 54 games last year, if he would have played the full 68 game season that would equate to well over 90 points, 14 more games and about 18 or 19 more points = 92+ points last year full season. He would have led Canada in scoring at the world juniors if Conner McDavid hadn't messed up every setup in front of the net that Bo gave him!!! Bo has nothing more to learn in junior. If he is not with the Canucks this year it can only mean Jensen and Vey and maybe one other rookie are tearing up big time. All in all it's going to be an interesting season of change.
  12. Well apparently he has been working on his first few steps. Thing is even if he starts on the fourth line that will mean they are playing the 4th line more and if they put him with at least a bit of a finisher like Mathias,Fox or even Gaunce, who knows Dorset may be able to up his game on O. ,the 4th line will get it's points and by mid season with injuries, etc. Horvat will get his time on the 3rd or 2nd line. Once he get's a few games with skilled linemates he won't be going back down or back to the 4th line. If he now has those first 3 steps up to NHL speed, the rest is there already, why wait?
  13. No one was expecting Datsyuk or Zetterburg, etc.,etc., to be top 6 players let alone first line players. It isn't only top 3 picks that make the first line...oh boy...
  14. Again, we shall see, Horvat may need another year in junior but if he is ready and earns a spot I see him as being already better at puck possesion, take away's, corner work and thinking the game then Hansen for sure and Richardson too I think, He may be better at Face offs than Richardson as well. I do believe his offence is already as good as either of those two players and yes I like to get ahead of myself as much as possible, you never know who may be catching up...
  15. That sound's good too! So many options so few spots available for the next year or two anyway.
  16. I like Shinkaruk / McCann / Virtanen assuming Virtanen does stay on the RW. Otherwise I like Virtanen / McCann / Kassian the "mow em down" line or the "Vircanian" line.
  17. uhm...one guy does it in the toughest division in the NHL, the other well you know...
  18. Horvat is at least as mature as Monahan was last year, I know they are a bit different players but really comparable skill levels. While Horvat may not get many second line minutes, if he does make the club there is nothing wrong with third line minutes with the odd night on the 4th line or the press box, he would be getting some PK time at least by mid season. I expect his first season to be similar to Monahan's stat. wise at least on a TOI basis.
  19. His offensive game is fine. We shall see but I think his total game is ahead of Hansen, Richardson and Dorset, Sestito will be th 13 forward so unless we carry 14 forwards one of the above (or Vey) will have to go for Horvat to stick. He will have outplayed them by a good margin to make it work for the coaches. I think he can do it but there may be others who are pushing hard too like Jensen and Shink, etc.
  20. So the Alberta teams finish one/two in the West and we are third?
  21. er...that would have to be a nickel now...
  22. They say he is highly competitive, that should set a fire under him, going from #1 to #7. Hope to see compete in just 2 weeks or so!
  23. We finally have some solid push from the bottom up. The veterans are going to have to be better, one of them will likely start in the press box others will go into a slump and get replaced by an injury call up who doesn't want to go back down. Come trade deadline I see more then one veteran gone. If Bonino can keep it going plus push from the bottom and viola we are a playoff team. Calgary, no I don't see it Edmonton, not this year Winnipeg, please....
