  1. well that really is quite the cup half full perspective they were hurt and helped by a young gunslinging quarterback who pulled out games but also lost games in a bit of a rollercoast ride this season, i think it is very hard to say they underacheived given last years record i side more with the view the team overachieved this year we got to see exciting and at times maddening football too much turned on our qb in my view but at least he has experience now (i do hope we keep lulay at least another season and play him a little bit more as well) i think wally has a good handle on this team there are 24 free agents, more than half the roster wally will rebuild the team to shore up the weaknesses and hopefully create a little better balance on both the offense and defence next year should be fun
  2. it was an unexpectedly good year man wally sure makes a big difference as coach he has to try to live forever i fear anyone .. solid year for the team . .with upside for next year our qb needs more experience and we just need a bit more talent on d stamps had a truly great year and deserve to win the cup this season nothing wrong with them finishing off with the championship
  3. some perspective very nice and i agree we saw a good hawk team they were at their best for the last period and a bit of the game and we got to see the nucks at their best the first 40 minutes anyone who knows hockey and saw Q's upset at the end of the 2nd period knew we were gonna see the full on hawk team in the 3rd it was a good game all round. . fun to watch
  4. i'm still thinking he wants a 5 year term i think 5 years at 105 million would be very good for the jays
  5. i think jose missed his signing window just prior to the start of last season he should have taken 4 years and $25 mill per i think he is now worth about $50 million over 3 years he is in decline his defence and offence are both falling off he still has box office value to the jays though a 20, 17.5, 15 contract is reasonable for him edit: just realized my math is off.. a 20, 17, 13 contract then, and, if he did not have box office/marekting value, i'd knock 5 mill off the entire deal
  6. one of my all time favs and i have been here from the start was a kid when the nucks entered the league
  7. dream on he'll get a 150 million offer if he becomes a free agent
  8. i think you are in the ballpark for what he will cost i'm hoping we could get him for 5 years at $125 mill though (30,30,25, 20,20)
  9. the caps i think understand that they are not toronto or some other well heeled team nor are they a team that has a natural grass surface suitable to any high end player i cannot see the caps paying more than 2 million for a striker and who are we going to find who is worth that or more who is willing to play on artificial turf even designated players on other mls teams sit out games against the caps in Vancouver we know Camillo flourished here and never complained about the turf i think everyone needs to take a step back, the player, management/coach, and do what is best for the team Camillo did not complain about every little thing he did not devise the tactic of his departure, his agent did i think the fans will accept him back, and i believe the players will too it's really whether management is prepared to eat crow and recognize that they handled unwisely a very messy and muddy negotiation when they had far less leverage than they realized it was surprising news to everyone that Camillo could in fact breach his valid contract and be permitted by fifa to play for another team and that the caps remedy was only compensation now that we know this, and that Camillo's agent was in fact smarter about this, let's accept it and move forward
  10. wahoo thanks deb you got me to 500 pluses
  11. the history on Camillo is a bit different he breached his contract and signed with another team because he wanted a raise before his existing contract was up fifa got involved and required the caps be given compensation.. which it seems the were . about 2 million if the rumours are true but i do agree he is worth considering
  12. i think it is a good signing the whitecaps do not have enough leaders robinson is one of the leaders i see ousted and harvey as the only other consistent leaders laba fell off a bit this year and the rest really fell off (morales flailed, waston became a card machine, tiebert did not play much) the team really needs a top flight central midfielder and a dp striker otherwise i think the core just needs to develop better and play more together i'd like to see a couple of tough europeans brought in (perhaps a couple of strong willed german players) this team just lacks that strong motor required for consistency
  13. i dunno jays payroll for the 2016 season was 159 million and that was with edwin and jose on very friendly contracts even with a needed payroll bump next season i do not really see much additional cash dickey leaving helps and he can be replaced more cheaply bautista is unlikely to come back, but his replace will likely cost close to what he was paid in 2016 we have contracts in place that contain raises, donaldson being one example if edwin is resigned he eats up the $10 million or so of the additional payroll bump
  14. he was a good coach and contributed greatly in his day to the lions i wish his family well
  15. i suggest you change the title of your latest post so as to demonstrate you do not need to put down the female gender to assist your attempt as poor humour

you act like saying "Queens" over "Kings" is a slur of some sort. You act like you're doing the world a favour, when you're actually just being over-sensitive

This shouldn't nearly gotten the response it should have. @coastal.view, I'm sorry if I offended you, and I'm sorry if these guys were harassing you. I didn't change the title, one of the mods must have, but regardless of who changed it, you are right.

  16. the iggy button is your friend embrace it use it you will feel more content and at peace if you do
  17. a nice tight 1 run game what is everyone fretting about this is what high level pro sports is all about 2 teams in a close battle.. where any error or positive can alter the outcome that's what makes sports entertaining sit back and enjoy
  18. i agree but 2 of their wins were gifts from the lions / jennings
  19. i think it is quite clear now that he has not learned a damn thing about how to manage the ball at the end of games he appears immune to learning this critical skill / understanding
  20. i'm just gonna pack it in on this team this season they are almost unprofessional in their approach at the end of games i mean fool me once, that's on you, twice, i'm a fool, 3rd time.. i must be an idiot or insane.. .wally wake up .. do somethimg go jays go
  21. you gotta be &^@#"in kidding jennings blows a late lead again .. 3rd time.. by throwing a late interception when lions are protecting a lead he cannot be relied on late in a game to protect a lead put lulay in late game situations so at least we have his experience this is ridiculous are they worried they will hurt jennings feelings? well f him... he is hurting my feelings and loyalty and i am sure his teammates are sharing similar views at this juncture he is a complete ass at the end of games where he needs to be conservative
  22. the qualifying offers are just to ensure the club get compensatory drafts picks should these players sign elsewhere i doubt bautista is back . he wants big coin and the jays won't be offering that encarncion has always said the jays are his first choice so it just comes down to whether they can agree on the numbers and the term jays are in the best position still to sign him but i'm guessing it is at least 6 years at $25 mill per year.. maybe higher salary in the first part of the contract and lower at the end
  23. well that tie with the rapids pretty much assures the caps of a 9th place finish in the western conference damn but on a happier note, read in the paper today that there might be thoughts of pursuing camillo when his contract is up in january 2017 if i recall correctly he is a striker who is capable of scoring in the mls .... mmmmmm
